@Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy bet me have people in common Grin
We are so lucky with such a lovely city
Think we will see normality much quicker than rural areas sadly
I would love to head west to the beaches.
The toilet thing requires military precision timing Grin

Oops, cross post with @Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy

I got in a row when I said that they shouldn't reduce parking at an accessible local park due to disability (they've coned off most of the parking thanks to wanting people to stay local). This was right at the beginning and even then more people seemed to support the idea that it was unfair that people with mobility issues wouldn't be able to access the area. Not everyone has a blue badge and I think that's being forgotten in our rush to reduce cars without investing in public transport.

using mum's iPad (murdering AAALLLL the people) my neighbour would jump on you with open arms if you came to her cafe!

Teateaandmoretea · 13/06/2020 12:39

Omg I’ve just been on a bike ride with a friend for the first time since March. It was so so good and has cheered me up so much. We even got a murderous coffee and cake on the way.

BarkandCheese · 13/06/2020 12:45

I’m going to all the cafes, one small good thing is with most of the chains shut the small local places have been increasing their custom. There’s a cafe near me which had the horribly bad luck to open about two weeks before lockdown. I did wonder if they would survive, but they’ve now become the go to place in the local area for coffee and cake, there’s a queue all day long outside. They’re almost opposite a Costa which is still closed, I hope once that gets back opened people still go to the independent shop.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 13/06/2020 12:48

@HesterShaw1 and @Cattermole - I hope you don't mind if I DM you when it's closer for ideas!

Scotland and Wales won’t be getting any closer than 2m to each other for years by the sounds of it. Don’t know how they expect people to form new relationships (or maintain existing ones).

Maybe this is part of their Cunning Plan to cut costs? No new relationships means fewer pregnant women using health services, fewer babies costing the NHS money, fewer children in the schools.

Also, of course, fewer adults paying taxes, but that’s a problem for 20 years’ time. Hopefully the economy will have recovered by then but if not there’ll be fewer people claiming UC.

Of course, it could all be ill-thought-out nonsense. Take your pick.

Wales and hobnob..we stay right near porthkerry country park
Love that place
Aww Bute Park..you must have sun
Still grey and miserable here

I have friends in the theatre in Cardiff and family in Barry, the vale and fair water
Been coming there for 60 years
I have a bit of a welsh twang to my voice, especially when I go ‘home’ as I call it
Nearly bought a static or a unit at the Marconi village three years ago, but the 6-7 hour drive held me back.
So we bought near york instead and spend 4. Nights a week there.
This is the longest I’ve spent in my own home since I met my husband 12 years ago. 10 weeks.

On a dismal note
Northern kin festival which was cancelled in May and postponed to August has now been cancelled till May next year

Nothing to look forward to ..yet

looks like things might kick off in London today

@Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy Not your fault. Or the fault of a great many people who don’t get to shout loudly on the TV. It’s just a real shame.

I’m sure we will go back anyway, my stepdad has been going there since he was tiny! It’s a real family tradition, we get a couple of cottages and all go at once. And it’s a wonderful place, with a gorgeous beach, nice pub, good ice creams. All you could want. DS adores it.

It’s just all a bit raw for all of us at the moment.

ThatLibraryMiss · 13/06/2020 13:03

I’m planning to downsize and was seriously considering moving to Wales, where I’ll get much more house for my money (actually, the same size house and more money for my retirement). I’ve changed my mind over the past couple of months.

On that basis they should have not bothered shutting down at all as the majority of deaths are in people past retirement age. It would have saved a fortune in future NHS costs, pensions and care homes.
justasking111 · 13/06/2020 13:08

Wales - honestly it is a few knuckle draggers, unemployed, illiterate, just looking at their posts and nosing at their on screen presence who scream stay away. There was a bit of dissent in Anglesey when second home owners decamped there at the start of lockdown, well guess what they did not bring a plague, three months later they have piped down and are grateful for the extra income. It is only those incapable of critical thinking from Lands End to John O Groats who have been dementoring.

justasking111 · 13/06/2020 13:10

Wales - it is a sad fact that we are a retirement area and the loss of life is in that age group, residential, nursing homes, folk who were in hospital for co-morbidies because of their age did die.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 13/06/2020 13:11

Has Sunak responded to Sturgeons begging bowl yet?
I hope he tells her to fuck off.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 13:14

We’ve just been to an actual party. Bouncy castle, piñata, party games... outside, but definitely far more than 6 people!

Bollss · 13/06/2020 13:20

I don't know how he can say yes really.. I mean if he did they're basically admitting that the people of Scotland are... More important? More worthy?

I mean what kind of weird precident would it set?

If she wants to do it she needs to find a way to pay for it imo.

I don't personally feel it needs to continue any longer than it already will be.... Unless for very specific industries which will still not be legally allowed to open perhaps.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 13/06/2020 13:22

@TrustTheGeneGenie
Me neither he has to say no.

NannyPhlegm · 13/06/2020 13:23

@Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy and @Hobnobswantshernameback
I have re-registered into Mumsnet to say that there are 2 more anti-dementors in Cardiff. Myself and my best friend.

I've been following this thread from the start and it has been a beacon of sanity when the rest of the world looks like it's going mad.

Ibake · 13/06/2020 13:27

@LivinLaVidaLoki he's not replied to my email yet so I'll be a bit cross if he replies to her first Grin (unless it's just a quick fuck off whilst he works on a longer and more detailed response to mine!!)

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 13/06/2020 13:27

It's good to meet you @nannyplegm. We need a secret badge. I re registered for this thread too, but I forget other people read and don't comment too! Maybe Cardiff is has a den of ADs!
