@Drivingdownthe101 that sounds like heaven!

my parents have a house in Belize, if I stood any chance of ever getting ds1 on an aeroplane I'd be there like a shot.

BakewellTarts · 12/06/2020 19:52

@Laniakea Jacinda can't afford it either and now has the huge problem that they can't open to tourists. At least it's heading into their winter I think she is banking on a vaccine before their spring.

(My brother is a kiwi in spite of the hype it's not all lovely down there. And they are an island at the end of the world noone travels through NZ unless visiting it so the logistics of lockdown execution were easier).

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 19:52

Don’t get me wrong, the in laws can be fucking annoying Grin. But they have a wine cellar, and a swimming pool... it’s all swings and roundabouts!

BarkandCheese · 12/06/2020 19:54

Well...my mum is my official bubble and she came over today, but DD went to her friend’s house, and her friend had just come from her dad’s house, and DH has been to his stepmother’s flat today so I guess the bubble is well and truly popped.

BakewellTarts · 12/06/2020 19:54

@BogRollBOGOF I think the big difference is that you don't social distance with your bubble. We are bubbling with my sister and her son. and I was ahead of the curve in hugging her last weekend. They are staying over with us too.

Ibake · 12/06/2020 20:00

Well, you lot seem in a stroppy sweary mode this evening I'm delighted to see - you've all got your mojo back! Am a bit tipsy, have been drinking with a friend who came round to watch the 5pm briefing with me (inside!!). Wankers never asked my question and the two today were nowhere near as good as mine so now feeing very belligerent. Have ordered a Chinese to a) sober up and b) kill a few people

Thanks, I did wonder if it was something like that.

My friends are seeing a family member, and apparently had a premature headstart on it... Fair play, they were really struggling with WFH and a 2 & 6 yo to keep safe/ entertained/ educated. At least they have childcare/ school back for some respite.
This encapsulates my social problem really, as all the local people I know are just busy with life and have some local family which tends to leave us out of the loop. I don't tend to ask for favours as I don't tend to end up requiting them because they have their own support.

That's the spirit Grin This one works well too... Gin I might not do hair of the dog tonight though Wink
LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/06/2020 20:04

I feel a bit left out not being tipsy....finished work, did an online body attack class and then shower PJs and tea followed by a parks and Recreation bingeathon.
Though DH and I are having a fake date night tomorrow once DS is in bed. Getting a delivery from a nice local restaurant, got a nice bottle of wine.....so there may be hope for me tomorrow!

Dowser · 12/06/2020 20:09

Wales
@glotterbug - I wonder if St Fagans will open up soon? Then there's the National Trust gardens like Duffryn and Tredegar House. There's a few you could do without being inside at all.

I’ve been to st fagans loads, we stay near Duffey and have been to Tredegar once
.
Who’d have thought aleister Crowley was a friend of one of the previous owners.
I wondered if I’d feel a nasty energy while there but no I didn’t.
Seems like a lifetime ago.
Had a lovely day with welsh cousin and her lovely now deceased dh , met my dh relatives from Chepstow there, ( now live near cheddar) lovely couple and my dh was still able to drive ( no stroke )
How Much everything has changed. Cousin married to someone else for 3 years, dh can’t drive, worlds gone mad and it’s highly likely we won’t be going to wales this year.
Once it gets past end of August it starts getting a bit chilly for days out and now way am I driving all that way, spending all that money for a fraction of the experience

BakewellTarts · 12/06/2020 20:09

I'm on the Honey G&T bloody delicious and yes feeling no pain!

Dollybagwash · 12/06/2020 20:10

Someone upthread asked for this again. Busy catching up but here are the covid sex rules Grin

I don’t think my dear mum quote understands the bubble thing 😂😂😂 she announced today that she could hug her grandchildren - yep but she has grandchildren from 3 daughters 😂😂 she can’t hug ‘em all 😂😂 she had a stroke in Feb so we’ve been shielding her and dad has given up his pretty active and varied life to look after her and protect her - I’m sure she won’t but I really hope she doesn’t contract cv19 now! 😳

Dowser · 12/06/2020 20:13

Pop your bubble

I love it

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 20:13

BakewellTarts I’m also on Honey G&T... my lovely dad signed me up for a monthly gin subscription and this one was on my doorstep when we got back from McDonald’s this afternoon!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/06/2020 20:15

Bit of good news....
The 7 day average for new infections is falling by approximately 500 a week.

bakingcupcakes · 12/06/2020 20:16

I've not completely caught up on the thread yet but I've got as far as Nicola wanting furlough extended in Scotland. Is she having a fucking laugh. What we need to do is scrap most of the stay at home stuff and all go back to work and school. My patience is wearing very thin with all this now. I'm furloughed and I fucking hate it. I know I should be grateful but I really just want my job back. And I can only get that with schools opening.

In happier news, DS is now the proud owner of the Oral B junior green electric toothbrush which we went on a murderous trip to Boots to purchase. He used it for the first time tonight. Loved it and let me clean his teeth for the full 2 minutes. Long may it last! While we were in town we called at a few other shops too (just to make a day of it). The sooner they scrap the 2m rule the better. I honestly don't know why we're making spending so difficult when so few people out&about have it. However, I somehow managed to trap my ankle in the car door when we were about to go home. It absolutely killed and now it's bruised and swollen. I can't decide if it was karma for going into all the unnecessary shops.

thenightsky · 12/06/2020 20:18

We are forecast good weather tomorrow afternoon and most of Sunday. Me and the neighbours are planning a little belated street birthday party for 3 of us.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 20:19

Palming the DC’s (well the two older ones) off with my mum tomorrow now she’s in our bubble... they’re so excited they can’t sleep, and I feel the same TBH Grin

soberfabulous · 12/06/2020 20:25

This thread continues to keep me sane.

Special thanks to whoever mentioned the telegraph article about school kids being more likely to die by being hit by lightning than COVID. I've been screen shotting and sending to dementors when they get too much.

Enclosed here in case anyone else needs them!

I know its good for your ds but it made me laugh. My ds2 has an electric tb and it was momentarily green this afternoon as it got knocked in the paint tin!!! Thankfully handle only as it was plucked out pdq. Never fails when we do something there has to be something screwy! 😄

I have been undercover all this time and now I have PROOF that all you lot care about is seeing the backs of your children!

Why can't you embrace the opportunity to smother them and not allow them any independence?

That is so SAFE.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 12/06/2020 20:28

My mum is now having illegal hugs with dd. Once we go back to school I think we’ll have to stop them but the chances are so low we’re getting them in while we can!

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 20:29

Argh Nihiloxica I hope the dementors don’t read that... they will then know for sure that the only reason people object to lockdown is because we hate our kids!

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 20:29

Had the primary school newsletter. many parents contacting them to ask if their children can return in the other year groups, but they can't yet due to the gov.
