Which foods do you like to eat the wrong way?

Lighthearted, in case anyone feels offended by the idea of there being a "right" way to eat certain things!

I like my pasta and rice to be cooked until properly soft, not al dente.

I also dislike meat cooked rare in most cases. Beef is ok, but any sort of game makes me heave when I cut into it and it's still bloody in the middle.

And cereal has to be dry - no milk. I can't bear good that was once crisp when it's gone all soggy and limp.

@GindependantWoman

Totally concur, the biscuit is the best bit and this is the only way to eat Twix, I think instructions should be printed on the packet.

Am also a Bounty chocolate nibbler
A Boost chocolate and caramel remover leaving the biscuit part to be eaten whole
A Kit Kat chocolate remover and wafer eater layer by layer and not snapped in half.

I also like dried pasta to be soft and prefer sticky rice

My grandmother would be horrified....

toria658 · 11/05/2020 10:04

I also love the pastry round a pork pie but hate the filling and jelly. I often eat the pastry leaving the innards in the fridge and OH unhappily mentions he never gets a whole pork pie just the filling and jelly.

GindependantWoman · 11/05/2020 10:13

@toria658 I'm so glad there are more of us out there. I've not done it with any other chocolate but I think I need to give it a go.

I haven't had a pork pie for years but also only eat the pastry.

I like trying to extract the orange jelly slice from a jaffa cake.

Whenever I have a big mac burger I eat each layer separately- so the top of the bun, then the 1st burger, middle bun and so on.

Dilbertian · 11/05/2020 10:26

Gingernuts should always be dunked, preferably in cloudy apple juice. I'll eat biscuits dry if I have to (cos, you know, sometimes you are forced to eat biscuits) but all non-sandwich biscuits are vastly improved by dunking. Water or cloudy apple juice for preference, hot tea will do, but milk is absolutely wrong.

EngagedAgain · 11/05/2020 11:05

Ah yes, I usually cut a bit off the pastry on a pork pie (not too much as I'm on a permanent diet!) The hard outer edge or bottom, then cut up and rearrange said pie on my OH's plate so he don't notice! Never eat the middle.

firstimemamma · 11/05/2020 11:10

Pasta over cooked and soft like you op.

Bran flakes warm up in the microwave with milk - soft and mushy! Grin

Nope! The other way round so you have a big ball of caramel to shove in your mouth all at once Grin

Crystal87 · 11/05/2020 11:18

If I'm doing tuna and jacket potato I mix the tuna with salad cream rather than mayo. It just tastes so much better.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/05/2020 11:21

Ketchup and Mayo mixed together with chips.

Mint sauce with any meal that has gravy, regardless of the meats.

Salt on cheese on toast

MaMaMyCorona · 11/05/2020 11:23

I thought I was the only one that only ate the pastry on pork pies Grin

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 11/05/2020 11:31

Cold roast potatoes in a sandwich with mayo are fab.

Pizza leftovers at fridge temperature are nicer than the original hot pizza.

AlCalavicci · 11/05/2020 11:37

Of I am cooking burgers or sausage I always cook extra , the following day cut them up into little bits and snack on them cold.
I nibble the choc off crunchies & milkyways ( don't like kitkats or bountys )
I like my egg yikes runny but if even a tiny bit of white isn't cooked I can't eat it.

Dilbertian · 11/05/2020 12:04

Cheese on toast without the toast.

Ie melted cheese is even nicer than unmelted. Especially Cheddar.

I'd have some right now, only dd is studying in the kitchen, and all my dc insist that the smell of melted cheese without toast is rank. Deluded, I tell you, deluded. Where did I go wrong? Sad

Sparkle733 · 11/05/2020 12:16

I eat the chocolate around a magnum and then enjoy the ice cream..
Got to be an almond one!

steppemum · 11/05/2020 12:33

my ultimat eeat things wrong is that I love cold sausages in a sandwich.... a sausage a sausage and marmalade sandwich!

AlCalavicci · 11/05/2020 12:55

quickly swipes a sausage out of @steppemums buttie and munchies it before it can be contamanated with marmalade

TeddyIsaHe · 11/05/2020 13:00

I love still frozen french fries. I’ll eat them like that over cooked any day. Dp thinks I’m disgusting Grin

EngagedAgain · 11/05/2020 13:08

I like a sausage sandwich (no not that type 😂) hot or cold. Also cold sausages are nice dipped in brown sauce

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 11/05/2020 13:12

Any mince based meal is vastly improved with a dollop of salad cream

Big Mac should be eaten as followed:

  • top bun discarded (it’s dry and boring)
-first burger eaten -Turned over and bottom bun eaten (has sauce on so is acceptable) -middle bun eaten -bottom burger, the saucy, cheesy, pickly goodness savoured and eaten last

Peanut butter and sliced green (can’t be red, that’s gross!) grapes on toast is food of the gods

Peanut butter is an appropriate substitute for humous in most situations

mumofone2818 · 11/05/2020 13:14

i eat my veg overcooked and mushy, cannot stand cauliflower wirh a bite in it Sad

ByzantinePrincess · 11/05/2020 13:16

With a non-fruit ice lolly like a Zap, I like to just bit into it and eat it like you would, say an apple.

Ice cream in general I like to bite into and get it down rather than savour it or let it melt in the mouth etc

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 11/05/2020 13:17

I eat the skin off kiwis! I love it.
I’ve never had warm custard, I always eat it cold !

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 11/05/2020 13:31

Oh god no, not kiwi skins Envy (not envy). Actually, not kiwis at all, as I'm allergic to them, but I can't eat anything with a furry skin. I used to peel peaches before eating them before I realised that I might as well have nectarines instead. To me, it's like eating a mouse, and I reserve that sort of thing for my snakes!

Wholemeal pasta tastes better than white. And it should be cooked well, 12 minutes boil.

Rice is always basmati and always boiled in a full pan of water, none of this measuring water business. Though I don't think that's wrong as such, just closer to the Indian style rather than the Southeast Asian style.

Houmous goes in sandwiches.
