Which foods do you like to eat the wrong way?

Lighthearted, in case anyone feels offended by the idea of there being a "right" way to eat certain things!

I like my pasta and rice to be cooked until properly soft, not al dente.

I also dislike meat cooked rare in most cases. Beef is ok, but any sort of game makes me heave when I cut into it and it's still bloody in the middle.

And cereal has to be dry - no milk. I can't bear good that was once crisp when it's gone all soggy and limp.

I am also quite shocked by the Kit Kat thing.
I’m not sure I eat anything in a particularly controversial way although people are shocked at the speed at which I do it and amazed I don’t vomit

steppemum · 10/05/2020 13:11

I eat KitKats without snapping them in half. I did it in the staff canteen and there was an audible intake of breath

my 12 year old does this, and what is more she comes over to me and does it RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE and then runs away laughing.

I have bred a deviant.

Bolognaise is lovely in a sandwich made with white sliced pan. Dh eats it with rice.

I also eat pickled beetroot straight from the jar

In The Netherlands, they have a pudding called Vla. It is cold custard. It is like thick yoghurt, ie pouring consistancy.

You can get it in every flavour, yellow obvioulsy, and then choc, strawberry, buterscotch, autumn cinnamon and apple etc etc.

It is lush.

We always bring loads back when we go.
You don't eat in ON stuff though, just as it is in a bowl!

GindependantWoman · 10/05/2020 13:15

I eat the top caramel part of both fingers of a twix first and then the biscuit part after. It's a bit messy but the biscuit bit is the best.

I know I'm not the only one but there aren't many of us.

JoeExoticsTiger · 10/05/2020 13:15

I eat pizza backwards, so crusts first then work my way into the middle.

Gottaleave the best till last!

New potato sandwiches. Potato. Butter. Bread. Delicious

NiteFlights · 10/05/2020 13:17

I like eggs hardly cooked - I like the white to be still a bit translucent, especially in a boiled egg.

Lemonblast · 10/05/2020 13:18

I bite the chocolate off maltesers.

Standrewsschool · 10/05/2020 13:25

I prefer food to be at room temperature, so not chilled, so will often get sandwiches and salad out of the fridge ten minutes before my lunch hour at work, to warm up.

My dh complains I overcook veg. Have concluded he likes al dente veg, whilst I like softer veg.

If there’s some baked beans left in a tin, I’ll often eat them cold straight from the tin.

Pyjamasarethenewblack · 10/05/2020 13:28

I love cheese on toast but don't melt the cheese! 2 slices of well done toast, thick slices of mature cheddar and a thin spread of tomato ketchup all put together like a sandwich.

DF eats crunchy peanut butter with salad cream on top! The vegan brands only because he watched Gamechangers on Netflix.

EngagedAgain · 10/05/2020 21:00

Oh I do the twix thing, also do it with mars bars and bounty. I also eat things straight from the jar/packet while getting a salad ready, then by the time it's all done I've had my fill! Not a great way of eating, because it's like eating a meal standing up, but it's usually because I am too hungry to wait. I then only put very little on my plate to sit down to eat! Sometimes do it with other things but mainly salad.

JingsMahBucket · 11/05/2020 00:17

My husband doesn’t understand string cheese. He just takes a bite out of it like regular cheese instead of gracefully and neurotically peeling away at the layers, making the enjoyment last for longer.

He’s a monster.

I know, I’m a weirdo. Even Ultimate Omnivore Gregg Wallace won’t eat an undercooked egg!

x2boys · 11/05/2020 09:11

Regarding Bolognese and pasta ,dh like Bolognese and chip,s I like battered fish with gravy or curry sauce .

lazylinguist · 11/05/2020 09:23

My husband doesn’t understand string cheese.

Neither do I, but not in the sense of not knowing how to eat it. Grin

RiverCrossing · 11/05/2020 09:32

@Standrewsschool Yes to that! I can’t stand fridge cold food and will get even chilled items out to we up for a bit before I eat them!

Also like bananas so green they’re practically crunchy Grin

sueelleker · 11/05/2020 09:36

In fact, I tend to stick to the Chunky variety these days.
I can't eat Chunky-I have to open my mouth so wide to bite it that I start dribbling!

EngagedAgain · 11/05/2020 09:39

Yes, I don't mind a slightly under cooked yolk, if the eggs are fresh, but runny no, and somehow a runny white seems worse 🤢 whenever I see a food programme or advert where they cut into a runny egg and it all pours out, turns my stomach a bit! My OH likes runny yolks, but I think even he might baulk at a runny white!

Seaglasss · 11/05/2020 09:44

I'm a fan of stale biscuits.. I also dip rich teas in squash..

steppemum · 11/05/2020 09:58

I adore proper runny yolks in eggs. I would rather have a bit of undercooked white that an overcooked yolk.

I am always so diappointed when you pierce a yolk and it doesn't run!

eggs with chips dipped in yolk
eggs with toast soldiers dipped in yolk
eggs with sausages dipped in yolk.

delicious.

Even better, proper huge duck egg with massive orange yolks, and the yolks are runny.
