Which foods do you like to eat the wrong way?

Lighthearted, in case anyone feels offended by the idea of there being a "right" way to eat certain things!

I like my pasta and rice to be cooked until properly soft, not al dente.

I also dislike meat cooked rare in most cases. Beef is ok, but any sort of game makes me heave when I cut into it and it's still bloody in the middle.

And cereal has to be dry - no milk. I can't bear good that was once crisp when it's gone all soggy and limp.

Thank you NiteFlights! You’d be surprised how unpopular that opinion is!!

onlyhereforthefood · 11/05/2020 19:01

@JuniorMumto1 that sounds amazing, that's lunch tomorrow!

As for me, the only thing I really eat wrong is cereal without milk.

VettiyaIruken · 11/05/2020 19:03

I like to eat my kitkats wrong. Bite across the lot rather than snap and go stick by stick.

Gives me a tiny thrill of wrongness.

Which tells you exactly how sad my life is right now!

I have also been known to eat frozen oven chips while they're still frozen. But I gave myself horrendous indigestion on one occasion and that rather put me off.

I don't see what's so wrong about runny egg yolks! Surely they have to be runny when you want to dip your soldiers in them?

@Bella444 I'm with you on the Twix - biscuit first, then stick your teeth together with the massive gobstopper of chocolatey caramel!

GindependantWoman · 11/05/2020 21:09

@Zisforstripyoss biscuit first??? No, no, no. There's wrong and then there's wrong!

I'm a Jaffa Cake nibbler...

Nibble around the circumference of the Jaffa Cake up to the edge of the orangey bit. Then prise off the base in one piece. Then nibble off the chocolate on top without disturbing the orange. Then enjoy the orange bit on its own by letting it melt on my tongue.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 11/05/2020 21:41

Can I send my DD round to everyone who only eats the pastry on pork pies? She only eats the middle and it drives me nuts!

Fresh fruit and chocolate is an abomination, but dried fruit and chocolate is the food of the gods. I absolutely love tiffin, it would be my last meal on earth if I had to choose.

HellToupee · 11/05/2020 21:42

My favourite treat is a frozen mini Mars bar. In fact, I just remembered there is a bag hidden behind the peas! 🥳

I also tear two slices of white bread and put them in my cream of tomato soup. It’s just so good!

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 11/05/2020 22:29

Strawberrypancakes your post re tuna sandwiches very upsetting to read 🤣 I can only eat them if they've been made within the last five minutes, with no butter or mayonnaise or anything that might be considered to be slimy. Once a hint of sogginess or sliminess creeps in, tuna sandwiches can fottfsofatfosm.

@IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece yes to fruit and chocolate being bleah. I’ve never understood raspberries and chocolate. I’ve only very recently warmed up to a particular dried cherries, cayenne pepper and dark chocolate bar but that was a total experiment for me.

Cruddles · 12/05/2020 13:25

A dessert i grew up with: when eating a main meal with rice cook extra rice and leave it to cool as you eat. For dessert put that rice in a bowl and add milk and sugar and eat child. You can heat the rice slightly if you wish. Voilà: rice, sugar and milk, as we called it.

My grandmother made it for my mum, she made it for me. My mum claims it's a depression era meal from when my gran grew up with not much.

I made it for my wife and she said it was horrible and she didn't like rice pudding. But it's not rice pudding, i can't stand rice pudding

Ginger nuts left in the air until they go soft.

And cheddar when it's just turning mouldy. Mmmm

AdaColeman · 12/05/2020 13:47

Dark chocolate digestive biscuits with ripe blue cheese piled on top.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 12/05/2020 14:03

I can't say I'm a fan of fruit and chocolate together either, but there are precedents for having jam on savoury things - cranberry jelly and turkey, quince paste with cheese, etc. I do like those yoghurt coated raisins, which is almost the same thing as chocolate but somehow much more acceptable.

I love sausages dipped in salad cream.

Most things are improved by salad cream!

I also don't like al dente pasta. Also al dente veg. Have it raw or cooked don't f* about!

GingerBeverage · 12/05/2020 15:05

Rice needs salty butter, for sure.

EngagedAgain · 12/05/2020 15:45

'Dark chocolate digestive biscuits with ripe blue cheese piled on the top'.

Sounds pretty lush. A step up from my digestives with cream cheese on!

Anyone like mars bars deep fried in batter?

notreallybotheredaboutausernam · 12/05/2020 15:57

I eat bananas sideways-they have 3 sections so one at a time.

Beetroot straight out the jar.

Hot dog sausages for dinner straight out the tin (cold).

Sunday dinner sandwich! Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, roast carrot, bit of cabbage and stuffing... delicious!

Monsterjam · 12/05/2020 15:59

I love raw spaghetti 😬😬😬

MoominKitty · 12/05/2020 16:01

Another one for only eating pork pie crusts 😂.

However I hate gravy on a roast dinner so I have it dry but dip my Yorkshire in my partners gravy, as far as I'm concerned gravy is a drink or goes on cheesy chips and beans only.

Also salad cream is the only acceptable sauce, bar gravy, to put on chips!

And veggies are to be eaten raw or barely cooked unless they are potatoes or peas.

Missmonkeypenny · 12/05/2020 16:06

Gherkins by the jar full, straight out the jar
Pretzels and chocolate at the same time ( not that weird I dont think )
Mayo in mash
Pizza slices must be folded in half length ways

DH is partial to a still frozen oven chip and DD likes dried pasta a lot, she also folds toast over like a sandwich.
