Which foods do you like to eat the wrong way?

Lighthearted, in case anyone feels offended by the idea of there being a "right" way to eat certain things!

I like my pasta and rice to be cooked until properly soft, not al dente.

I also dislike meat cooked rare in most cases. Beef is ok, but any sort of game makes me heave when I cut into it and it's still bloody in the middle.

And cereal has to be dry - no milk. I can't bear good that was once crisp when it's gone all soggy and limp.

I only eat my cereal dry. When I was a kid, my mum used to refuse to sit in the same room as me while I munched through my breakfast!

safariboot · 11/05/2020 13:37

I like jacket potatoes but I leave the skins behind.

Vegetables served with a roast or similar are always steamed or roasted, never boiled. I will die on that hill. Steamed fresh carrots and potatoes taste so good.

And I never put salt in the water for boiling stuff.

Oh and fruit and chocolate is an abomination.

I will swing naked from London Bridge before eating blackforest gateau or chocolate covered strawberries

I like the red bits of rhubarb eaten raw with no sugar....good for the pelvic muscles if it's really sour. Although I am banished to a different room when I have it because it makes OH slightly sick watching me.

EngagedAgain · 11/05/2020 14:31

Omg, the skin's off 🥝. Although I used to know someone who ate orange skin's. Anyone know if it's ok to eat the white outer rind on brie? Also, my OH probably would if I let him eat that outer crust from stilton. What about that?

Deviantslagheap · 11/05/2020 14:34

I really really overcook broccoli and cover it in salt.

jackparlabane · 11/05/2020 14:43

Biscuits need to be dunked in whatever I'm drinking - usually tea or coffee, but otherwise milk, water or wine...

Rumboogie · 11/05/2020 15:32

Another pork pie crust eater here. Can't stand the meat. like the jelly, though!

Also: 3 Weetabix, three quarters of a pint milk, micro till foaming slightly. Yum!

Also hate undercooked meat, veg, rice, pasta.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 11/05/2020 15:40

MaMaMyCorona: yyy to microwaved stuffing. Even better with Brain's faggots, also microwaved so the gravy stays proper runny.

longcoffee · 11/05/2020 15:45

Jam in both cheese and ham sandwiches. Ideally fig, but strawberry at a pinch.

Graphista · 11/05/2020 15:46

I also like my pasta a little softer than its supposed to be.

Another who loves raw mushrooms can happily sit and eat as a snack as they are.

“I always bite the chocolate off of a milky way first then eat the inside” roll it into a ball first, makes it chewy. In fact most filled choc bars are deconstructed while eaten here. Double deckers are best for this

Rarely use pesto without a wee spoonful straight into mouth.

Anyone know if it's ok to eat the white outer rind on brie? totally fine, best bit!

EngagedAgain · 11/05/2020 16:09

Thanks Graphista.. I still don't think I would eat it but at least won't cringe when OH does. I've got a knack of scraping some of it off without wasting the brie, I don't mind under the top layer.

SpeckledyHen · 11/05/2020 16:13

I much prefer porridge to be cold . Nice and thick and can be cut with the spoon , preferably with pumpkin seeds added .

NiteFlights · 11/05/2020 16:16

Oh and fruit and chocolate is an abomination

@IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece yes! You are so right. Although I like milk chocolate with raisins in it.

TheDogsMother · 11/05/2020 16:28

Yes to sausage and marmalade sandwich, especially the lime one. Or have you tried it with lemon curd ? It's very nice.

Take your cold roast potato sandwiches to a whole new level with the addition of sausages and Branston.

OublietteBravo · 11/05/2020 16:30

I prefer cold toast. I also eat baked beans cold.

HarrietTheShy · 11/05/2020 16:30

I scrape the filling out of fruit pies and just eat the crust.

Dilbertian · 11/05/2020 16:32

There are so many things on this list that are so right! Cold sausage sandwich with jam, cold baked beans straight from the tin, cheese rinds (both Brie and Stilton), chocolate outer first then whatever's inside, ketchup mixed with mayo (but not to uniform pinkness - it has to be unevenly streaky and swirly), bolognaise on anything carbie, crisp sandwiches, yesterday's pizza, raw mushrooms, cold custard.

It's the rest of the world that's weird!

Burplecutter · 11/05/2020 16:35

I like to eat my toast flipped upside down so the jam goes on my tongue not the dry hard plain side of the toast.

PenguinsOnParade · 11/05/2020 16:47

I hate al dente pasta or rice too. Same for vegetables. I don't want them to be mushy but don't want them hard either.

I'm one of those horrible people who eats Kit Kats and cheesestrings just by biting them.

I also prefer bananas still slightly green.

On the other side though, I hate when you go to a restaurant and order a steak pie and what you're actually given is a serving of casserole with a separately cooked piece of pastry. It's not a proper steak pie if it doesn't have that beautiful layer of cooked, yet squishy, pastry in the middle. I won't order it when out now because I'm disappointed every time.

MrsOrMiss · 11/05/2020 16:50

Raw bacon - peel the rind, eat, then the fat, then the large round bit then the rest of it. I've been known to eat it while cooking bacon for every one else.
I put a bag of maltezers in the fridge for about 15 mins, it hardens the chocolate just nicely for nibbling off. Then melting the middle bit in my mouth. I score extra thrills if the choc comes off in as few a pieces as possible and keeping the centre intact before melting. My DH gobbles them down without the ritual, I may have to LTB.

PenguinsOnParade · 11/05/2020 16:52

Yes to pork pie pastry too. I don't mind a little of the meat but hate the jelly so I've been buying Morrison's mini pork pies. No jelly that I've seen and a much better pastry to meat ratio.

Standrewsschool · 11/05/2020 18:07

I like pork pie pastry and meat, but not keen on the jelly.

Also, fruit. I prefer them hard. When they are ripe, they tend to be too soft for me, especially pears, nectarines and peaches.

danidella · 11/05/2020 18:23

I love eating chunks of raw potato, cabbage or broccoli. The only meat i can eat cold is sausage rolls or sausages. Any other meat i have to eat hot. I prefer eating wheetabix with cold milk

JuniorMumto1 · 11/05/2020 18:35

Fried onion sandwiches are the food of the gods.

I have also occasionally got myself a bowl of dry cereal and a glass of milk. Then had a spoonful of cereal followed by a slurp.
