@TheGreatWave

Dianne I always feel that attitude is quite selfish. It's "I'm so grateful for those doing x, y, z" (for the positive feelz) but actually what is really meant is "me and mine are so much more important than you and yours.

Yes that was definitely my vibe from that post . Also who do these people think will keep paying for them to stay at home (she doesn't work - I almost hesitate to say that as I promise I am in no way judging her for that aspect of it)

Shodan · 09/05/2020 23:09

@DianneWhatcock

My inner Pollyanna is clearly having a day off because all I can hear in my head are snarky comments about spelling and grammar in that drivel Grin

TheGinGenie · 09/05/2020 23:09

I've just realised all this reminds me of this scene from Mean Girls (which I have hopefully posted correctly)

Anti-Dementor Alliance Thread - learn how to produce your patronus here
justasking111 · 09/05/2020 23:11

My local FB pages are a wealth of dementors, OH and I read the maddest ones out to each other. Grin

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 23:13

@Shodan ditto ditto! Thank you - that made me feel less judgemental Grin

Also, as an aside, I reckon our usernames are pronounced in almost exactly the same way...

I can't sleep, I've got such bad stomach ache and I hate my flipping isolation room. I need to not go on the dementor threads for distraction, or I'll get so enraged that I'll never fall asleep! Wink

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 23:19

I might try writing some anti-dementor poetry... a limerick!

A dementor who lived in West London
Felt all fun and games should be frowned on
She locked all the door
And kept mopping her floors
And then spied on her neighbours till sundown.

Schoolchoicesucks · 09/05/2020 23:19

Near me, they've been frothing on facebook about how ridiculous it is that the parks haven't been closed yet.

They are desperate for us all to be locked in.

How dare anyone take any pleasure from the good weather and nature doing its thing.

BirdieFriendReturns · 09/05/2020 23:33

Birdie Friend is my patronus.

Shodan · 09/05/2020 23:33

Also, as an aside, I reckon our usernames are pronounced in almost exactly the same way... @Jourdain11 I think you're probably right, only yours sounds more exotic in my head.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have had snarky SPAG thoughts Grin

TheGinGenie · 09/05/2020 23:33

Don't forget "this isn't even a real lockdown"

Hmm
TinRoofRusty · 09/05/2020 23:34

My patronus is a murder hornet. Slay every day!

Topseyt · 09/05/2020 23:46

Blimey, I just visited the Boris Costa in the park thread. How mind-blowingly ridiculous and banal. The dementors (including the OP) must be producing more froth than Boris would have had on his coffee.

I've decided that my patronus should be my old labrador. He died last November aged 15 and I would be delighted if I could conjure him up and see him again. That would make me very happy.

Wehttam · 09/05/2020 23:48

😆

So this is where you all hide

😘

TinRoofRusty · 10/05/2020 00:54

We're in the middle of a pandemic!

LilacTree1 · 10/05/2020 01:03

Jourdain I love your verse!

Topsey that would be lovely, sounds like a fab dog.

Though dogs are freaking me right out at the mo. There are proper dementors controlling this - Video in article

DressingGownofDoom · 10/05/2020 01:09

@Topseyt my patronus could be my elderly pug who died 3 years ago, although I can't imagine she'd be too effective at scaring anything off bless her.

Topseyt · 10/05/2020 04:23

DressingGownofDoom, it is happiness that is supposed to scare the dementors away..

So if your patronus was your pug and mine my labrador then we would be happy to see them and the dementors would flee.

Mookie81 · 10/05/2020 05:46

My local Five Guys had reopened for click and collect.
I picked it up and ate it by the river, dangling my feet over the side.
It was the best meal I'd eaten in weeks! Grin

Springersrock · 10/05/2020 06:40

Had a day away from the Internet yesterday. Had a lovely day, ended with a Chinese takeaway and a bottle of wine

Bloody dog got me up at the crack of dawn this morning so I’m having a cup of tea and a mooch on MN

Over 70s in garden centres, people having BBQs and Boris and his costa - fucks sake

Magicbabywaves · 10/05/2020 07:06

Bear place marking

HauntedGoatFart · 10/05/2020 07:40

I reckon my Patronus is a polecat. Sinuous with a sharp and effective bite Grin

Bollss · 10/05/2020 07:44

See I see things like @DianneWhatcock posted and I just think. Oh, you poor love. You don't really understand where this is going do you?

They'll be waiting a long time for a cure. I wonder how they're going to fund staying in for years?

BlackberryViolet · 10/05/2020 07:46

Thank the gods that I’ve found where the sensible people are. We’ve had a shite few years, late diagnosis of asd in both dds. Dd1 was however finally happy at college, the mh issues much improved, now she’s been pulled back into depression and panic attacks. Dd2 should have been sitting GCSEs this year but her college place broke down in January. After a five year fight the LA finally agreed that she needs a specialist setting due to her autism. That was in Feb. It’s now on hold and we’ve been told is not likely to be even looked at again until Oct at the earliest. So a whole year or more out of education by the time we find somewhere and get her in and she’ll have no qualifications. She won’t get her GCSEs based on predicted grades as she was removed from the college register at the end of Feb.

I’m more worried about the mental health of both of them than I’ve ever been. I took them and dog for a long walk along the coast last night. The chippy was open! We sat and ate fish and chips looking out on a closed beach - signs up from the local council telling you stay off the the beach under Covid-19 regulations. Best chips I’ve ever had!

Littlebelina · 10/05/2020 07:54

I've just spotted a reference to HIV spike proteins in reference to Covid-19. Not even sure how to respond to that. Is it too early for wine?

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 07:56

@dianewhatcock

I'm SO curious what these people will do when everyone else is back at work! I dont believe for one second they will have the money to just stay at home for the next 2-3 years and their employers certainly arent going to pay their wages if everyone else is back.

They'll go back. Mark my words. Once they're in the minority because everyone else is back to normal they'll look like right twats staying at home whilst everyone else is out having fun.
