I wonder of the mayor is just stressed about London and the tube etc perhaps, also he would criticise the gov as he's Labour isn't he so would be like that anyway.

Kind of ironic as Labour have been on about a plan to relax the lockdown for ages but there we go lets not get political

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:21

I'm chuckling at the thought of "stay the fuck alert" 😜

Do you think the dementors will now be frothing and huffing about people not being alert enough when out and about? "urgh I was just in tescos and a man there was not alert at all- do you WANT people to die? stay the fuck alert!"

TitianaTitsling · 10/05/2020 08:22

@Elmerrrrrrrr so glad your off to your mum's! It'll be fantastic to watch your DC have freedom to run about!

Drivingdownthe101 · 10/05/2020 08:25

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter yes, do you think there will be a reporting hotline for people who look too distracted while going about their daily business?
JUST STAY THE FUCK ALERT!

DominaShantotto · 10/05/2020 08:27

I'm considering taking the kids to my mum's to give us all a break from each other. Mum's offered to have them as my mental health is now destroyed and then I could sleep through the rest of this shit.

However I'm too scared of being stopped on the journey (3 hours) to consider it at present.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:28

I am LOL

"I've just reported an old lady to the police. We both grabbed for the same grapefruit and she accidentally brushed my arm! She's clearly not alert enough to be out and about so I've reported her for not being alert enough. Hopefully the police will give her a warning or a suspended sentence because people really need to realise that not being alert enough is a fucking CRIME and I WILL be reporting anyone who I think isnt alert"

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/05/2020 08:28

Dementors also seem to be suffering with selective memory loss...
They are claiming a horrendous second peak following friday claiming everyone stayed in over Easter why could they not do it now? I am sure at Easter they were screaming, "second peak, second peak!!!" as they claimed everyone was out.....

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:30

@DominaShantotto

I'd go if i was you. Hopefully by tomorrow things will have relaxed a bit and you wont get questioned for driving that long.

Your mental health comes first.

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 08:32

Just been reading through the new thread- pretty busy! On the subject of invasive treatment thought I'm mention that I was listening to one of the BBC sounds Healthcheck series last night on the virus and they were interviewing consultants dealing with it and they were sharing info on best treatments etc- basically they were saying ventilators are not good despite the focus on them, the Cpap machines much better (mask for oxygen) much better outcomes with them, thought I'd mention this I know I felt better at the idea of that in needed for anyone

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 08:33

Imagines them shouting at the doddery elderly to 'stay alert'! (hopefully not)

Mascotte · 10/05/2020 08:35

The ventilators thing is interesting as all the screeching about people being "denied ventilators" is a huge misdirection. Being ventilated appears to be a pretty unpleasant process and not suitable for frail or elderly people in general as it is liable to do more harm than good.

OutwardBound2016 · 10/05/2020 08:39

There are lots of people here who think this can be eradicated by STAYING THE FUCK AT HOME, I was shouted down by a poster who told me that was the government policy and it was widely known. She didn’t have a source though as apparently the government liked to contract themselves Confused

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:39

You literally couldn't ventilate the old or frail. Ventilation can really damage your lungs and it can take months of physiotherapy afterwards to properly recover. After ventilation, some people are so weak they cant even get out of bed - its a brutal process and would be utterly cruel to ventilate an old, frail person with dementia. I mentioned that on a thread once but was told I didnt "value" their lives. eye roll

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:42

Also, people seem to think ventilation is a treatment for covid. It isnt.
Ventilation just artificially inflates your lungs to allow your body to keep breathing. Your body still has to fight the virus off.

BarkandCheese · 10/05/2020 08:44

Good morning all.

The remote of “stay at home” is going to cause some frothing. “what part of stay alert don’t you understand?” Doesn’t work as well does it?

DominaShantotto If it helps my DH drives approximately ninety minutes to and from work twice a week since all this started and he’s never been stopped by the police.

BarkandCheese · 10/05/2020 08:46

Remote? That should be removal.

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 08:46

Some more on the changes here:

The immediate changes Johnson will announce fall into two categories: doing more outdoors and reopening businesses in “highest value economic” sectors that give the maximum economic gain with the minimum risk to the R number.

From tomorrow the restriction on people exercising just once a day will be lifted. They will be allowed to sunbathe if they observe six feet social distancing. From Wednesday, they will be allowed to shop at garden centres. Staff in No 10 were told last week that Johnson himself is likely to begin jogging again this week — yesterday he went for a morning walk in St James’s Park, central London, and was confronted by a passer-by.

A minister said: “If you want to go out in the morning and you want a breath of fresh air in the evening that’s fine. That means police can go and focus on other things.” In his speech Johnson will also give viewers a “framework for how to make sensible decisions around social distancing”. A senior source said: “He’ll explain the science behind it — what sorts of things are good practice.”

They are going to recommend face coverings on public transport and shops too... not compulsory though. Hmm

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 08:47

I take it that was the Costa walk!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:48

I was a little confused why everyone was soooo desperate for a ventilator. Shouldn't they be keener to stay off a ventilator?

Also, I'm amazed there isn't more advice about what you can eat and so on to strengthen your immunity, and what you should do if you get it. Should you stay in bed or move around? Eat or just have lots of fluids? Etc. I bet the reason Boris got it so bad was that he'd been barely sleeping, working all hours, stressed as hell - his immunity was probably knackered.

I'm going to hospital soon to find out if I'm fit for Round 2 chemo tomorrow. I'm hoping I will be, but I'm not feeling too well today because of the enlarged spleen which is giving me a lot of stomach pain and making me feel generally quite uncomfortable Sad But fingers crossed! If all goes to plan I'll be disappearing for a few days, so I didn't want you to all think that I'd become a dementor (or had my soul sucked out).

P.S. don't tell the dementors that I'm having hospital treatment - because, you know, NOTHING IS RUNNING.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:48

Boris looks so utterly bewildered!

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 08:48

My DH's work (manufacturing) has said it is planning on re-opening this week. He has to drive about 90 mins to there as well.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 10/05/2020 08:49

Good luck Jourdain! We are all rooting for you

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/05/2020 08:50

I won't tell jourdain
Good luck Flowers

Bollss · 10/05/2020 08:51

Good luck @Jourdain11 hope it all goes well for you!
