Take your shaming and your doom and gloom somewhere else.

Yes Janice Turner was quite right how she picked up on the 'remain on the sofa' brigade vs 'leave the house' wasn't she. Very apt

Oh dear @Orangeblossom78 I didn't realise that. I'll report my post

everythingisginandroses · 09/05/2020 13:48

I agree, @Orangeblossom78, don't engage Smile

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 13:50

Ooh, can I join in? Please? I'm so sick to death of the massive virtue-signalling, self-punishing, self-aggrandising crap that's going on EVERYWHERE!

In case I need to prove my credentials for fitting in... I am the wife of a man who goes to the shops daily, not wearing a hazmat suit or taking a disinfectant shower upon his return (thereby obviously condemning the whole family to certain death). I am sending my kids back to school when the schoolwork reopen - I'm currently on shielding list because I'm having chemo for leukaemia, but the way I see it, I'd be at risk from any germs the kids brought home in normal times and wouldn't pull them out of school, so why should this be different? However, I've been told that I'll regret my decision when my kids are growing up without a mother Confused (Not quite sure how that will work, but hey...)

When life gives you shit, you don't just curl up and hide, do you? You find ways to work around it! At least, that's what I always thought...

everythingisginandroses · 09/05/2020 13:57

There are some proper self-righteous bores posting some horrible comments on here, sorry you've experienced that @Jourdain11. These people generally haven't been ill with Covid-19 and don't know anyone who has, they are worried well and hysterical. You are doing your best to live your life and manage risk sensibly, what else can any of us do? Wishing you a good recovery Flowers

Willitneverend · 09/05/2020 13:57

I am sitting on the beach having just eaten some chips. Flavoured with salt and DEATH.

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!

I hope you ordered a side of body bag with those chips.

Isleepinahedgefund · 09/05/2020 14:03

This thread is a breath of fresh air (not that I know what fresh air is because I haven’t left the house for weeks BECAUSE THEN I WOULD BE MURDERING MY OWN PARENTS EVEN THOUGH THEY DON’T LIVE WITH ME)

I am genuinely disappointed that I haven’t seen any of the Anne Frank references in threads.

It will be interesting to see how the dementors react and adapt tomorrow if for instance Boris says picnics are now ok. Will they take the stance that Boris is personally trying to murder us all and is effectively turning every park into a new Auschwitz, or will they adapt their rules and self righteousness to incorporate the new guidance? Perhaps giving a time limit for picnics, after which the picnickers turn into murderers? Acceptable foods to take to the time limited picnic? Acceptable number of picnics to have per week, after which you would be deemed to be a terrorist?

I also really want to know if the “I’m staying in until there is a vaccine” brigade genuinely expect to be paid in full while they do so.

HavartitoMeetYou · 09/05/2020 14:03

Body bags which can only be ordered IN BULK.

Alsohuman · 09/05/2020 14:08

Latest gem:

There are whole communities out there not giving a flying fuck about protecting anyone, thinking they’re above the rules or invincible. We are doomed

This is very much my attitude too.

I really hope your chemo goes well Jourdain and that you go into remission very soon Flowers

BarkandCheese · 09/05/2020 14:11

Apparently the VE Day anniversary and street parties were a plot by the government so that the spike we’re going to see in two weeks can be blamed on that and not any easing of lockdown restrictions announced tomorrow, or something.

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 14:13

DH went through the park on the way to the shops. He saw a friend with their son and kicked the football to and fro with them for a bit (obviously distanced, as that's kind of the point of passing a football). He saw loads of people sat on the grass, eating, sunbathing, whatever. So they might as well change the rules, everyone is doing it anyway! And I'd be willing to bet that the whole population of Hammersmith isn't going to be on a Covid ward next week...

GhostsToMonsoon · 09/05/2020 14:16

Garden centres are set to open next week (B&Q opened recently and the social distancing seems to work well there; only a limited number are allowed in at once). Cue people on Twitter saying that if you go and buy some flowers PEOPLE WILL DIE.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 09/05/2020 14:16

Its quite clear that VE day was planned, that WW2 was started by our own government on PUPOSE so that when covid hit they could wheel out VE day to infect more of us. The fact they waited 75 years is proof that they lulled us into a false sense of security so we wouldnt suspect. I fully suspect Vera Lynn is involved somehow and that she was instrumental in releasing the virus, perhaps she planted a bomb in the polar ice caps which released the virus to infect us all and her song "we'll meet again" was actually about her meeting the VIRUS again! Think about it- her name begins with V. V is the MIDDLE letter of covid!

eye twitches

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 14:18

@AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter thank you, I hope so too! Honestly, I just don't understand how anyone thinks it would be right to keep my DC off school until a vaccine is found? I can't teach them!

YgritteSnow · 09/05/2020 14:18

@Jourdain11 I am in the same area and seen the same and it's been like that for a few weeks now. Have said it on MN a couple of times - that many Londoners have eased off, and have been told I am lying, stupid, talking nonsense, trying to fear monger, been met with real rudeness and aggression in fact. Telling the truth is not permitted with dementors it seems, even if they don't live here and cannot see or experience what I can.

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 14:19

@GhostsToMonsoon there is an opera where that happens. The heroine dies from sniffing poisoned violets or something..!

Tappering · 09/05/2020 14:20

There has always been a contingent of really negative posters on here. I remember after the 2015 GE, one said that the result meant that she might as well dig graves for her and her DC, with her bare hands. I'm not making light of austerity and its impact, but it really highlighted for me that there are people who will instantly go straight to the worst case scenario and embrace it.

Jourdain11 · 09/05/2020 14:22

@YgritteSnow I've only been out to go to and from hospital and (I admit) for the occasionally stretch of legs and breath or fresh air, but even then I can see the difference. More traffic, more people, more shops reopening. DH chats to the guy who runs the local pizzeria cum cafe and apparently they're doing super good business!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/05/2020 14:23

Don't forget to add this one to the bingo card: 'Would you go up to a frontline worker and tell them 'Fuck you!'?'

I got told I should go into a covid ward and tell them I enjoyed myself yesterday!

Clemmieandareallybigbunfight · 09/05/2020 14:23

Loving your work

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/05/2020 14:28

Although some posters may think there are 99 strains out there!

And now the time for Nena to re-release 99 Red Balloons as 99 Covid Strains! I'm sure the dementors would love the bit about calling the troops!

Ninety-nine decision street
Ninety-nine ministers meet
To worry, worry, super scurry
Call the troops out in a hurry
This is what we've waited for
This is it, boys, this is war
The president is on the line
As ninety-nine red balloons go by
