Thanks for the new thread. I'm sick of people saying on Facebook they won't consider sending their children back to school until there is a vaccine. It makes me feel so guilty as my dc have both been in school since day 1, dh and I both NHS.

psychomath · 02/05/2020 18:52

You did just murder an entire ITU ward with your smiling though so for that shame on you!

Totally worth it Grin

ThatLibraryMiss · 02/05/2020 19:00

I'm sick of people saying on Facebook they won't consider sending their children back to school until there is a vaccine.

Frequently the same posters who are complaining about teachers not setting any school work and how hard it is to motivate their beloved offspring while they themselves are working at home.

I can't wait until they're whinging about being fined for not sending their kids to school or that homeschooling is hard.

GoldenOmber · 02/05/2020 19:03

psychomath you callous cow, imagine SMILING! I hope you repent for this by spending that entire date saying to each other "HELL IS COMING" and "WE WILL NEVER HAVE BIRTHDAYS/SHOPS/MUSIC AGAIN" and nodding solemnly Grin

Am a bit worried there's an overlap between the "my kids won't go back to school until there's a vaccine" people and the "I refuse to trust any vaccine that hasn't had ten years of testing" people. Hopefully they're just speaking from fear right now and will reconsider when things start looking up.

psychomath · 02/05/2020 19:04

GoldenOmber I think it's sadly inevitable that the death rate will start to rise again when we do lift the restrictions, hopefully not by too much if strategies like contact tracing work and some of the less extreme social distancing measures are kept in place. So first it will be SEE, ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE DYING BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE COULDN'T STAY AT HOME FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS/MONTHS/YEARS. Then when the virus eventually does die down for good they'll spend years shoehorning 'remember when tens of thousands of people died because the Great British Public were too ignorant and selfish to stay home properly?' into every irrelevant political debate, as though there were no deaths in other countries, and comparing our figures unfavourably to the totally accurate and honest Chinese ones.

Willitneverend · 02/05/2020 19:06

I think the Dementors are starting to move on to dement about other countries coming out of lockdown and how this will make everyone die. I've just seen one posting excitedly over Germany's R rate increasing.

Tomorrow I am going to have a big Facebook cull and mute session.

TazSyd · 02/05/2020 19:09

We’ve just got back from a 5 hour walk. We drove for 15 minutes to get there too. There were a few other people there. We saw 5 groups of people in 5 hours, plenty of space between us though.

We were passed by two police cars as we were out walking and none of the police driving them gave us a 2nd glance. That is the bit that is likely to upset the dementors.

Littlebelina · 02/05/2020 19:26

Love this thread. We went for a long walk today and got a take away coffee half way round. It was lovely but we almost didn't go as weren't sure about walking so far (despite the fact we've done a similar walk the previous two may day weekends) and similar to pp with the drone there was a woman with a camera near the coffee place which had me worried we'll end on the local fb page.

Pinkflipflop85 · 02/05/2020 19:33

So glad I've found this thread!

Our local dementors are going absolute nuts today. A local party mascot company has sent two superheroes out on a walk around the local area.

The children have been waving from a distance. It absolutely made my son's day.

But alas, the facebook demontors have branded all those involved as murderers.

PickAChew · 02/05/2020 19:36

Just found this. Dementors is such an appropriate name. I was watching Russell Howard's thing he's doing from his bedroom, the other day and he's becoming more of a dementor with each episode. I drew the line at him saying people shouldn't be out catching pokemon. Hmm

I ordered some tester pots for my hallway, this week. I full expect them to arrive with the colours renamed to the name of someone's granny that I've murdered.

And I had roast lamb for dinner. Not one single item in my meal came out of a tin. I've been out shopping for fresh food 3 times, this week, in fact, and I'm considering popping out for wine, right now.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/05/2020 19:39

3) "Well, how do you KNOW you've had Covid-19?! People keep saying they've had all these symptoms, but unless you have been TESTED you don't know, so you are being unhelpful and should keep your mouth SHUT!"

This is the bit I don't understand. One minute anyone with any sort of symptom must have Covid-19, but when someone says they've had it they don't believe you!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/05/2020 19:39

Ah there's one on a thread I'm on telling people that schools won't go back at full capacity until there's a vaccine.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/05/2020 19:40

@PickAChew I go shopping twice a week too and I go to 2 different supermarkets each time so I can get exactly what I want.

TazSyd · 02/05/2020 19:46

@waxoneaxoff0

Ah, well they are the ones that would like to be stay at home parents but can’t afford to be.

They think that the government is either going to pay them 80% of their salary to stay at home on furlough for 3 years/until there is a vaccine. Or their employer is going to continue paying them to home school their kids during working hours for the next 3 years / until there is a vaccine.

LilacTree1 · 02/05/2020 19:47

Sparkling you’re buying cider but having a go on the birthday drive by thread?

You are a dementor.

BirdieFriendReturns · 02/05/2020 19:51

I went to Waitrose today with DH! Yes, two of us allowed in together! How many people have we “murdered” then?

Notthecarwashagain · 02/05/2020 19:51

Ooh I like this thread!

I've had to leave facebook, because I was just too stressed by the 'FFS STAY INSIDE!!!!' happening.
Mostly posted by someone who always knew how long the queue for everything was!

@psychomath was that Scottishmammy with the creepy brackets dislike?
Also, great news about your future date!

Notthecarwashagain · 02/05/2020 19:57

Actually I think it's scottishmummy? She doesn't like the humphy face either Grin

Notthecarwashagain · 02/05/2020 19:58

Or didn't? No idea if she's still on here. Shut up me! Sorry, way too invested!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 02/05/2020 20:07

This is the bit I don't understand. One minute anyone with any sort of symptom must have Covid-19, but when someone says they've had it they don't believe you

haha! THIS. Any time a random stranger coughs they freak out because they're "recklessly infecting them with Covid" and anyone who has a cough (even if its due to hay fever or asthma) should stay indoors until 2075 just in case its actually covid.

Yet, when someone posts they actually had covid and it was mild they get:
You cant POSSIBLY have had covid, it wasnt covid, youre lying! unless youve been tested you cannot tell us you had covid

Make your damn mind up!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/05/2020 20:09

Well I've no idea how many I've murdered this week. I've ordered local chutney from a shop in Lyme Regis, notepads from another Lyme shop, a sandwich toaster, nail varnish and a Cornish cream tea and pasties from a bakery in Padstow. And to make matters worse we had another takeaway tonight!

psychomath · 02/05/2020 20:09

Yes Notthecarwashagain, that was it!

Well jealous of all the people getting takeaway coffees and/or fancy artisanal milkshakes. None of the cafes round here are open, except one that lets you do click and collect food orders on two afternoons a week. Really hoping Costa extend their trial re-opening before I die of caffeine deprivation.

AgentCooper · 02/05/2020 20:13

Oh I needed this thread. I’m so sick of it all. After an anxious start I was actually feeling pretty well for weeks but have crashed horribly this week.

On Wednesday I was out for a walk with my wee one, who has been so good. He’s obsessed with cars and hasn’t touched a single one recently (he’s 2.5). He has a car badges book and can identify pretty much every one going now. We sat on a wall (not a house wall) for a while and watched the cars while he shouted Skoda! Mitsubishi! Fiat Cinquecento! The looks we got. I didn’t care, we weren’t doing any harm.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 02/05/2020 20:14

@agentcooper

love your name! love twin peaks!

OutwardBound2016 · 02/05/2020 20:21

The ‘how’s lockdown near you’ is a hotbed for them, anyone that says ‘nah quiet here’ gets ignored whilst the ‘normal Saturday’ crew are lavished with attention. I’m not clear as it can be a ‘normal Saturday’ because everything apart from B&Q, Homebase and a few takeaways are open (unless all these people are visiting their local retail park to spy).
