I think I've committed the most murderous of sins this evening.

The ice cream van came and not only did I buy icecream....i took ds out with me to get one too!!!

Drivingdownthe101 · 06/05/2020 19:00

Also "also have you been around small children, they are always snotty, biting, coughing in people's faces in MURDEROUS ways"

This drives me mad. My DC are not perfect but they’re perfectly capable of wiping their noses and disposing of the tissue or coughing into their arms or a tissue, and they definitely wouldn’t cough in someone’s face!

TinRoofRusty · 06/05/2020 19:17

Whoever thought up that term 'shielding', I jinx them with the Langlock curse forever. Fucking irritating AF.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/05/2020 19:19

They don't want to meet my cat then. He bites and coughs and doesn't observe social distancing. I mentioned the cough to someone recently and was asked if I'm sure he doesn't have coronavirus!

(He's seen a vet, they don't know why he coughs but it doesn't bother him so they didn't want to do more tests just in case anyone thinks I'm neglecting him!)

MagdaS · 06/05/2020 19:20

I do have a first world lockdown problem though. My kids are at school and school has decreed that during the crisis PE kit shall be worn rather than school uniform. The PE kit is white. They only have one set (all that is usually needed). It is filthy when they get home and even more so after DH has only loosely supervised the eating of pasta pesto. We cannot get more as it is regulation and the cupboard at school holding it is locked. Therefore every bloody night I have to wash and dry it.

As for social distancing at school, almost certainly not. My youngest told me they were standing 2m apart in football at first but he did ‘loads of good tackles’. Still not DEAD.

Drivingdownthe101 · 06/05/2020 19:22

That sounds an absolute pain in the arse MagdaS. Can they just wear normal shorts and t-shirts?
Our school sent a video they’d made to all pupils last week, to let them know they’re missing them. At the end they showed all the key workers children who are in... there was definitely no social distancing involved!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 06/05/2020 19:26

Really important questioning that I'm pondering over the Pinot....

Which side would Professor McGonagall be on? I've like to think she was a secret rule breaker.....but she was pretty strict with breaking of Hogwarts rules.

too invested in the whole Harry Potter world vibe

Drivingdownthe101 · 06/05/2020 19:28

She’d follow the rules, but she definitely wouldn’t tell people in capital letters that they were all MURDERERS. She’d just get on with it quietly.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 06/05/2020 19:31

@Drivingdownthe101 I'm now saying MURDERERS in my head with a Scottish accent 🤣

Alsohuman · 06/05/2020 19:33

We’re going to need a new thread very soon.

MagdaS · 06/05/2020 19:34

Unfortunately not Driving. Both the suggestion of ordinary shorts and T-shirts and the one that someone might be able to collect the key from the school secretary to open the cupboard with the kit in if she’s not willing to come in have fallen on deaf ears. The head is unsympathetic to dual working parents (well, working mothers, really) at the best of times, now he is forced to look after their kids in a pandemic, even more so!

I’m not braving the class WhatsApp groups for assistance either. There is a significant dementor cohort who are at the same time very unhappy about homeschooling and have decided that us key workers have it easy. It’s bizarre.

GhostsToMonsoon · 06/05/2020 19:38

Outward - I saw it on a local village Facebook group. Most people are lapping it up.

OutwardBound2016 · 06/05/2020 19:43

Ghosts, that’s mad! It’s been relatively calm (boring) here but one resident did take to FB to say that she saw some lads playing football the other evening. There were a few sympathizers but generally people asked her what she had done about it to which the answer was nothing so she gave up.

SomewhereEast · 06/05/2020 19:43

GhostsToMonsoon
Lol at that sign. Someone local (not the council) went around putting red & white 'crime scene' tape on a few nearby benches when the lockdown started. I noticed today that the tape has now quietly vanished & two people were....sitting on a bench!!! The horror!!!!

Seriously its actually been pretty good in my area. The local fuzz have been very sensible (unobtrusive patrolling of our local big green space, but letting everyone do their thing unless they're blatantly taking the piss). Everyone's doing their best but not losing their minds if the two metre thing isn't quite possible 24/7 (good luck in Tesco).

EskiSummerleaze · 06/05/2020 19:51

My two are at school and there's zero social distancing going on because they're tiny children...all the parents have risk assessed and decided that it's fine and all the teachers are doing an amazing job at making sure they're happy and as safe as possible and that's perfect. Nobody's caught anything from each other and maybe they've just been lucky but I'm so grateful that the school have acted like this. There's hope! But shhh don't tell anyone thatGrin

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/05/2020 20:43

New thread.

Mascotte · 06/05/2020 20:43
