Thank fuck for you cheery lot here!
I got grief on MN for saying that we walk our dogs around the block here at midnight because the government here in SA say we can’t walk our dogs at all.
We have three lovely dogs; one is a 9 year old irish wolfhound who has been though a hell of a time with stomach torsion , big operation months of recovery due to his age, and some bitch on here said they hope we get caught and fined. All my beautiful dogs want is nice food and a good walk / sniff and we want to enjoy what time we have left with our big lad and someone thinks I am in the wrong. Can’t even walk them on the golf course where we used to take them So we will continue to walk our dogs at midnight, and she can fuck off! We even have a curfew here, not allowed out between 8pm - 6am.
We can’t buy alcohol or cigs here, it’s like prohibition, fucking mad and maddening. Now the government have decided we can walk between 6 am and 9 am so there are hoards of people all walking at the same time, again fucking madness!

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 18:33

I've no idea, but I bet the more remote areas of Scotland that can only be reached by ferries are not necessarily being as good as other places less remote! I may be doing them an injustice , but if your already remote and know your neighbours and there are only a few of you , I doubt you would have to be as strict? They may be more hardy too than someone in a big city.
I'll run for cover now.

everythingisginandroses · 03/05/2020 18:38

I am strictly an urban lowland Scot, so the Highland and Islands are a total mystery to me, @The80sweregreat. I can definitely imagine they have their own Wee Free Kirk Dementors and Gaelic Dementors, though. The city-dwellers I know are complying, but I suspect they may get complacent as the number of recorded cases is so much smaller.

The only thing that makes lockdown bearable for me is walking the dogs, and alcohol.

You poor thing, being denied that!

Summersunandoranges · 03/05/2020 18:56

I know some one who was tested because her husband was being treated for chest infection and she worked in a care home and she had zero symptoms Shock. Bet they’d hate that.

Jesus why!??

sonjadog · 03/05/2020 19:02

The Lofoten island group in Norway did exactly what you are suggesting, The80s, and they closed access to the outer islands. Life has gone on there as normal while the rest of the country has been shut down.

Drivingdownthe101 · 03/05/2020 19:03

Has lockdown made anyone want to go and live in the middle of nowhere? I’m dreaming of a house with a couple of acres of land, my own chickens and above all, no dementors nearby! Just in case it happens again Grin

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:04

I can imagine that if your remote anyway then life won't change that much. They will still get ferries and deliveries etc.
It's us city dwellers that have it harder!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/05/2020 19:05

I've spent rather a lot of time on Rightmove today. That and Autotrader. I think the new car might be more realistic though!

Drivingdownthe101 · 03/05/2020 19:07

Me too PinkSparklyPussyCat. I’ve found us a rather nice place in North Devon with two acres of land and a library!

sonjadog · 03/05/2020 19:08

Anyone reading the only ten people thread? All the angst about having more than ten people when it hasn't even been announced as policy yet. Also the assumption that your ten people will want to pick you too. If it does become policy, I foresee many threads about why x didn't want to have me on their list.

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:09

I'm starting to hate my house but dh said we've spent so much on it in fifteen years he won't move! The prices will probably tank round here by autumn so I doubt we'll be going anywhere.

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:14

The ten people thing will start so many ' aibu' threads! Considering most Mumsnet people seem to actively hate their family ( sils mostly) I bet it won't stop them starting a ' she hasn't put me on a list' thread! Or grandparents are favouring x y or z ( even though they haven't seen these people in years over a row about loo brush use in 2016)
Will be funny to see them crop up.

everythingisginandroses · 03/05/2020 19:14

A library!

Over on the Dementors' paradise thread mentioned above, 'the new normal' has appeared, along with 'how could you live with the GUILT if your DC get it and develop long-term problems (comes back to gleefully list, again, long-term conditions which LOTS of recovered Covid cases are getting). FFS, fuck off!

everythingisginandroses · 03/05/2020 19:15

Can you imagine being in a fucking 'bubble' with any of the Dementor Overlords? I'd rather spent the rest of my life walled up like an Anchoress.

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:18

The hardcore dementors won't have a bubble ; they will refuse!
The more slightly relaxed dementors might let them hang about at the end of the drive wearing masks.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/05/2020 19:18

That sounds amazing Drivingdownthe101. Mine was also in Devon but sadly not as big as that but there were enough trees and bushes in the garden to enable escape without being seen.

I just need to choose between an MX5 or Mini convertible!

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:20

Get the MX 5!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/05/2020 19:21

My daughtesr OH has an MX5 . Watching him uncurl his 6ft 4 frame as he gets out is hysterical.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/05/2020 19:22

That's what I'm leaning towards. I want something fun!

Obviously I understand I shouldn't be thinking of having fun at this time and no doubt many people died due to me looking at the Mazda website.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/05/2020 19:23

Uh-oh looking at my spelling I'd better put my coloured screen on my monitor.

Drivingdownthe101 · 03/05/2020 19:25

Don’t you know the economy is going to crash and we’re all going to be living in wooden huts and eating gruel for the next ten years, and the 5 of us that still have jobs will be paying 100% tax to pay for this lockdown?? And you’re looking at cars?!

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 19:26

Pink, stuff em! The Internet hasn't been condemned (yet!)
A few dealers are wfh and can take returnable deposits until you can look properly etc.

OutwardBound2016 · 03/05/2020 19:35

We are also going to have kidney problems if we have had the virus (definitely not just a few). It appears that some posters are spending their days watching/listening/reading the news just so they have something to throw into the ring. I would assume that these people have a LOT of time on their hands (not like the plebs working/looking after DC’s/shopping for family members....)
