I didn't realise she was due already. Baby boy born this morning!

I think Carrie and Boris bringing a baby back to Downing Street with a picture call on the steps will be a lovely distraction from the relentless horror of this pandemic

Nothing will be a distraction for those of us who know our loved ones are going into work, on the NHS frontline day in and day out with insufficient PPE thus putting their own lives at risk. Least of all a picture of the bloke who should've made sure that they would be safe when they were doing their jobs. How many of you have had conversations with your 23yo about their funeral plans lately, because that's what's been happening in my family, and countless families up and down the nation.

Boris Johnson is a disgrace and becoming a father again doesn't change that.

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:33

He won't be doing any childcare.

Helmetbymidnight · 29/04/2020 11:33

i still cant see what makes this thread so horrifying and sickening. is it the fact that people are mentioning boris has lots of children (dont know exactly how many) or that they are mentioning that his attendance record is poor?

Foxglade · 29/04/2020 11:33

He's around eight weeks early. Hopefully he is getting the best possible medical care.

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:36

You really think a photocall of a baby will distract us from the fact that an additional 40,000 people have died?
I mean it might distract some idiots and those who support Boris anyway. But no I am not that stupid or shallow.

Thighmageddon · 29/04/2020 11:37

Thread starts with news of baby and whether he was prem.

Thread continues with some slanging matches and words of 'mistress' ,'unmarried mother entering no10', "I wouldn't shag him" and various other insults towards a woman who has just given birth.

Thread further develops over whether Boris should resign due to potential ineffectiveness.

Only on MN. Can we start again?

I think Carrie and Boris bringing a baby back to Downing Street with a picture call on the steps will be a lovely distraction from the relentless horror of this pandemic

Is that a joke?

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:38

@Helmetbymidnight It is because we are criticising Boris. What we are all supposed to be doing is awwing and aaahing over the new baby.

PenfoldsFive · 29/04/2020 11:39

I would imagine there is a Red Trouser list of names somewhere.

ducksback · 29/04/2020 11:40

Johnson separated from his wife in 2018 and she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in May 2019.

But don't let facts get in the way of your hate.

TooTrueToBeGood · 29/04/2020 11:42

I wonder if it had a hard or soft exit.

Cam77 · 29/04/2020 11:42

@jasjas1973
Actually probably more than 32000 UK deaths. Analysis of excess deaths in England suggests 45000 deaths in the UK so far. Given that France includes all deaths in their official totals, this would make the UK possibly the worst hit country in the world per head of population, with only Spain and Italy in the same ballpark.

ducksback · 29/04/2020 11:42

I agree Thigh, it is so dismal.

I hope that the baby is healthy and that mum and son are doing well.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 29/04/2020 11:44

I don't think he was ever as ill as was claimed.

And you'd know, wouldn't you? Honestly, people do post some shite on here Hmm

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:44

I hope he bothers with this child at least.

LadyMary50 · 29/04/2020 11:44

TokyoSushi.Yes juggling a baby and work with no support just like thousands of other women.Only she won’t have the added pressure of worrying about money.and if you think for one minute she won’t have a nanny and minions at her beck and call even in this pandemic think again

derxa · 29/04/2020 11:45

Keir Starmer
After the news broke this morning, Sir Keir tweeted: 'Wonderful news. Many congratulations to Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds.'
Miles away from the nastiness on here.

indecisivewoman81 · 29/04/2020 11:45

This seems really early! She was hardly even showing! I was massive by 5 months.
*note to self. Must do more stomach crunches

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:46

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace None of us know. But he has never once coughed on video or been properly breathless when speaking. I know what it sounds like when someone with serious respiratory problems is speaking, you can hear the difference, he has never had that.

Helmetbymidnight · 29/04/2020 11:46

what on earth are you trying to argue ducksback?

that boris hasnt had multiple affairs? that boris hasnt fathered/left/denied multiple children? that boris didnt push one partner into an abortion? that boris didnt divorce the mother of four of his children when she had cancer?

MaybeDoctor · 29/04/2020 11:47

Above all, I really hope that the baby wasn't too premature and that neither the baby nor Carrie suffered any health implications.

Boris is an appalling example of a man, but I am glad he recovered from Coronavirus. I wouldn't wish him ill.

I hope his brush with death prompts him to make amends to some of the people he has hurt, including his wife and existing children, some of whom are now adults I think. Their complete absence (even on celebratory occasions like election night) is notable.

I suspect that Carrie is a little naïve and, like many second partners, has been told a tall story about his previous marriage. It's also quite probable that she is ambitious and being at the centre of power was a huge attraction to her. However, becoming a mother herself is likely to make her think a bit more deeply about it all.

cantory · 29/04/2020 11:47

@derxa Of course he did. What did you expect him to tweet. Congratulations hope you spend time with this baby unlike your other kids.

MaxNormal · 29/04/2020 11:48

like many second partners

Third at least surely?

Helmetbymidnight · 29/04/2020 11:48

why does mentioning boris' family/ies upset you so much?

Devlesko · 29/04/2020 11:49

I hope mother and baby are well.
he won't take leave, I'm sure he didn't with all his other children. He doesn't really take to being a father, unless it's absent.
