The shop I went to yesterday didn't have charcoal.
But never mind I'm sure when lockdown is over there will be endless weekends where its lashing down and we can barbecue in our jumpers and with brollies :o

Why is it miserable to suggest smoke from a bbq can really badly affect people especially if they have covid or underlying chest problems. Why not cook inside and eat it outdoors.

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 20:43

That's what we are doing!
Enough of this now.

The law clearly states you're not alowed BBQs. The only thing you can do in your garden is bleaching your hands and walking on broken glass to remember this is a lockdown and fun has been forbidden.

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 20:45

We know our neighbours on both sides. I suspect they will be barbecuing. The neighbours over the road will not smell it. The other side is a road, where people drive or walk past in about thirty seconds.
If our neighbours get the barbecue out we'll be sure to log it with 101.

Bugger. Forgot about charcoal. We have a BBQ bucket, no whizzy fancy pants gas BBQ green with envy

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 20:46

Dh hoovered the grass the other day. He really did.
We smashed a glass (obviosiy it only contained tepid tap water) and he was sucking up the tiny bits.

Bollocks that the law says you can't have bbqs. People really have gone mental.

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 20:50

Everyone hates them and the food is objectively awful, rather than being a matter of personal preference.

@category12 If you refer to my post it was meant to be sarcastic...

Shouldershrugger · 09/04/2020 20:51

We got ours from a petrol station. Only because my dh was there filling up. Yes, he is a key worker! Before anyone starts.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 09/04/2020 20:53

My new neighbour was burning stuff in his garden late at night 3 days running. Both neighbours and the people who's garden backed onto mine had bbqs the other day

No one had a problem. I dont dare get out the new burning bin or the new bbq though after reading bloody mn

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 09/04/2020 20:54

Oh, I ordered charcoal from Amazon

Lovemusic33 · 09/04/2020 20:57

Local police here have advised agains bbq’s and bonfires though no one seems to be taking any notice.

mbosnz · 09/04/2020 20:58

We got ours from John Lewis. . .do we get points for revolting middle classness?

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 20:58

This is probably where I discover barbecues are non U or whatever pompous shit it is you say to signal you're a cut above the rest.

Just do not get bad food poisoning that would put a damper on things. Enjoy the sun, the wine and the bbq folks. Wine

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/04/2020 20:58

We’re hoping to have one. This is what our local fire service have said. Nothing wrong with having a bbq

TryingToBeBold · 09/04/2020 21:00

I hope you find some.
Can I recommend bacon on the bbq... Grin

TryingToBeBold · 09/04/2020 21:00

And who the hell doesnt like the smell of a bbq?!

rslsys · 09/04/2020 21:00

Anyone know how we can get replacement gas for our barbecue?

Our Morrisons sells bottled gas, as does our local 'open all hours'.
B&Q do click & collect.

DaphneFanshaw · 09/04/2020 21:00

You’ve inspired me to have a bbq tomorrow op.
My neighbours have been having them all week and I agree with a pp that they smell of summer.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 09/04/2020 21:02

Local police here have advised agains bbq’s and bonfires though no one seems to be taking any notice.

I can understand them not wanting bonfires, due to fire risk and fire brigade needing be called out, or the obvious pollution, but I imagine the barbecues is in case people invite others around.

I have THREE gas barbecues. Two half decent sized ones and a huge one that even has a gas ring if you want to fry some onions for your burger. When my husband was alive we used to have fabulous family and friends get together. I miss those days.
