Can't have a barbecue this weekend :(

The shop I went to yesterday didn't have charcoal.
But never mind I'm sure when lockdown is over there will be endless weekends where its lashing down and we can barbecue in our jumpers and with brollies :o

I am almost certain my barbecue won't help nor hinder the pandemic. Should a hyacinth-turned-police-informant sit somewhere near I gave them something to hoik about so they will hopefully leave the neighbours who buy an Easter egg alone.

Grin Wine

goldenorbspider · 10/04/2020 13:46

I pre cook stuff in the oven before it goes on bbq. Doesn't end up completely charcoaled

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 10/04/2020 14:46

I have a very snazzy gas barbecue and cook all sorts on it
We barbecued last weekend, last night and will again tonight
Thankfully most of out neighbours have buggered off home (students) .
God the joy sucking dementors are still here
Shame they haven't added mumsnet to their joysucking banned misery lists

UpCloseAndPersonalWithGlenda · 10/04/2020 15:04

SPB, I didn't realise you were vegetarian. I'm sure there's a mythical Mumsnet Halloumi Block which will feed 2,345 people for a week and still have leftovers so you can make cheese stock.

StealthPolarBear · 10/04/2020 16:17

Neighbours have started their barbecue

DaphneFanshaw · 10/04/2020 16:30

Are you close to them, do you think they would lend you some coals...
We are lighting ours in a minute.

mbosnz · 10/04/2020 16:47

Mine have fired their's up. Looks like it's going to be a mexican wave of bbq's on this street tonight!

StealthPolarBear · 10/04/2020 17:02

Aargh I was wrong, it was a pressure washer, the spray looked like smoke

2 beers, 2 burgers and 4 small lamb kebabs down, here. The chicken skewers have just gone on but I honestly don't think I can face anymore food Envy (not envy)

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 10/04/2020 18:40

Ours is lit. Burgers, chilli prawn things, sossidges (obvs), potato salad. High on cals, low on greens and that's the way we like it!

Halloumi in fridge, but think we have enough...

Chrisinthemorning · 10/04/2020 19:15

It was halloumi followed by burgers in buns with salad here.
Tomorrow lamb steaks, Greek salad, pitta and tzatziki. Was intended for Sunday but rain forecast.

mbosnz · 10/04/2020 19:33

Cheers everybody! Wine

DaphneFanshaw · 10/04/2020 20:16

I love sossig on the bbq, mine was fucking lovely. Not too burnt at all.

DaphneFanshaw · 10/04/2020 20:16

TryingToBeBold · 10/04/2020 21:24

Bacon was bloody lovely on the bbq.
As I knew it would be Grin

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 10/04/2020 21:35

We had streaky bacon wrapped around 2 spring onions (several obvs, just one set would have been meagre). Very delish, you could also do it with pancetta. Or, skewers of streaky bacon wrapped around mushrooms is another favourite chez yolo.

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2020 17:51

OK now they're having a barbecue. It smells amazing.

Joy sucking dementor here.
Just one fine weekend when we don’t have to close all our windows because of the disgusting smell of barbecue would be nice.
Every fucking weekend in the summer. Often week nights too.
You like it. We don’t. But apparently it’s your god-given right.

drunkyhumptydumpty · 11/04/2020 18:34

Not God given. I think more Government given....property law given? I don't know.

But I don't think God has anything to do with BBQs.

mbosnz · 11/04/2020 18:46

@DuchessofBolton

Wonder what it is that you do that you think is an entirely harmless pleasure and use of your property that winds your neighbours up no end? I can practically guarantee you that there's at least one thing.

It's a shame you don't like it. Perhaps you could ask your neighbours to position their bbq in a better position where it won't upset you so much?

TwoZeroTwoZero · 11/04/2020 19:22

We had a bbq today. Vegan burgers with real bacon (we didn't have any meat burgers!) in brioche buns with salad, pineapple salsa, cheese, onion rings and sweet potato chips. It was delicious.

mbosnz · 11/04/2020 19:26

We did saussies in bread with onions and sauce for lunch, we get homesick for the sausage sizzle outside the homeware DIY shop that we used to indulge in every weekend, lol, so make our own.

Those burgers sound magnificent TwoZeroTwoZero!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 11/04/2020 19:41

I'm really fancying a sausage butty @mbosnz but can't find any decent ones without trawling around all the shops. We had to make do with what we had so it was a bit of a mish-mash!

mbosnz · 11/04/2020 19:54

Our hunt for good sausages is further exacerbated by them having to be gluten free - lincolnshire Tesco or M&S are very good.

drunkyhumptydumpty · 11/04/2020 20:10

My sausage of the epidemic is the pork and apple ones I've found in Tesco.
I don't know the brand sorry and they are a bit pricy but I have never tasted a sausage so delicious. They have ruined all other sausages for me.
