Have you aged ten years overnight on a supermarket website?
Are you sticking to the 'two sheets' rule?
Have you had it with singing celebrities?
Are you yearning for what we will now call The Before Times?

If you've answered yes to any of the above, here's where you come to post threads about Naice Things - like ham and cats. Where The Virus That Must Not Be Named (TVTMNBM) is off-limits.

We'll do our best to keep the corona-free zone moderated - you do your best to chill out and gather strength. Flowers Brew

Keep using the normal boards for normal stuff, but here's where to come if you need a break. We're hoping everyone will see the value of having somewhere to get away from it all.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Oh good, I need somewhere I can post without wanting to throttle people.

And I'm nice, so I don't post, just write angry replies in my head.

I feel calmer here already.

N0ManJan · 24/03/2020 19:07

Oh thank god for a dedicated spot away from the madness!!!!

theoriginalmadambee · 24/03/2020 19:14

Yay, thanks @yetanotherbeckymumsnet

@thegirlwholived i don't know if you can ride alpacas, better be careful it doesn't end up, an upside-down camel Grin. Actually a quick Google seems to suggest your dreams may come through.

Through?? True Blush

My DH has started a 'positive thing of the day' on his daily team meetings. His contribution to it today was that there was a bonus rasher of bacon in the pack this morning.

I got the DC out on bikes for our daily exercise. We rode round an empty hilly field and had a wonderful time belting down the hills.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 24/03/2020 19:17

Thank you lovely byootiful HQ!

I did an hour or two of tidying and sweeping today in my front garden. So enjoyed the sun on my face and thoughts about what I'll be planting in the next couple of months.

Sadly, a neighbour over the road (nice enough ageing hippy type woman) decided today was the day she needed to sit out on her front step and play her guitar (badly) and sing (even more badly)!

Tr1skel1on · 24/03/2020 19:18

I found an old red dog toy ball in the garden today and my loopy collie who is missing his walks thought it was birthday and Christmas rolled in to one.

In other news I've nearly sown all my veg seeds for the year. We normally have fairly wild weather here and it's been lovely

The ones I saw were definitely smaller than that one! Grin

MutteringDarkly · 24/03/2020 19:24

Thank you @SoupDragon Smile

It has been a trying day but in the spirit of this thread / section: my chives have survived the winter and
I chopped some onto my tomatoes at lunch; we ate lunch in the garden in the sunshine; tomorrow will be our "adoption anniversary" of DC joining the family, so we're making chocolate cake to celebrate.

Loving the llamas and alpacas!

theoriginalmadambee · 24/03/2020 19:24

@Roussette perhaps you could give it a go for thegirlwholived Grin.

Oh and in that case pics please.

Topseyt · 24/03/2020 19:24

Yaaaay to this. Smile

Not belittling the virus that shall not be named, but I am getting a little bit fatigued with it right now.

Raera · 24/03/2020 19:26

If you found one big enough to ride I don't think you'd be able to steer it!
They do what they want to do (a bit like my hair).
Also, if they see some nice dust, they drop onto it and roll, apparently the rolling in dust stops mites annoying them.
I'll stick with the walks!

theoriginalmadambee · 24/03/2020 19:27

The scent of these is fantastic and filling the dining room Smile.

I have been sorting out my yarn stash today: it's grown and had babies. May use the additional spare time available to crochet a camping blanket. We've promised the kids we would camp in the garden over Easter.

Inandoutthedustybluebells · 24/03/2020 20:04

Can I add penguins to our list of Things That Make Us Happy? British Antarctic Survey have a fantastic 'Penguin of the Day' website here:
www.bas.ac.uk/bas_image_queue/penguin-of-the-day/

And here is a lovely Adelie Penguin chick...

Grin I'd need an alpaca the size of a baby elephant!

Here's another pic from this morning. Smile

A happy thread - yay 😀 Loving all the Yorkshire daffs and primulas.
Also Aldi orange and almond chocolate. It is fantastic!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

AT LAST

This has made my day Grin

I've had a lovely day today - my mood has lifted a million levels for the sun being out. We had an amazing walk over part of the Malverns today and didn't see a soul. My dogs are both a bit nervy and they were so relaxed for not seeing other dogs. I feel like I should send Boris a thank you card.

theoriginalmadambee · 24/03/2020 20:21

roussette re. baby elephant, me too -sigh- me too Wink.

But they are lovely though.

tigger1001 · 24/03/2020 20:25

Love this thread. And love the alpacas!

It's nice to read something cheerful

JoMumsnet · 24/03/2020 21:09

@MutteringDarkly

Which section of the topics is this in? Found this thread in active but want to favourite the topic and I can't find it...help?

Here's the whole new topic, The corona-free zone - you'll find it under Other Stuff. Plenty of room for lots more lovely threads. Smile

And if you want to hide any other topics, here's the link to our Talk preferences - topics and threads page.

You need to be using the Desktop version of the site to be able to hide topics. Just click on the link above and keep scrolling down to the bottom of the screen... there, in teeny tiny letters, is a link to the Desktop site.

Hopefully that's all clear but do shout if you need any further help.

Money back on the empty bottles too, we were green before it was a thing

I expect that some enterprising youngsters would have thought of going round the back of the corner shop to where the owner stored the crates ready to go back, nicking a bottle or two and then 'returning' them to the shop to get the 10p.

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 21:42

I'm here! I'm here! Oh you lovely people.

It's like when the Pope lands his plane and kisses the tarmac!

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 21:45

@Rousette, might that walk have been in Kent? There is a place where you can take alpaca for a walk. DS and I had the Best Time.
