Have you aged ten years overnight on a supermarket website?
Are you sticking to the 'two sheets' rule?
Have you had it with singing celebrities?
Are you yearning for what we will now call The Before Times?

If you've answered yes to any of the above, here's where you come to post threads about Naice Things - like ham and cats. Where The Virus That Must Not Be Named (TVTMNBM) is off-limits.

We'll do our best to keep the corona-free zone moderated - you do your best to chill out and gather strength. Flowers Brew

Keep using the normal boards for normal stuff, but here's where to come if you need a break. We're hoping everyone will see the value of having somewhere to get away from it all.

Thanks,
MNHQ

@elshajd
I was one of those enterprising children but in my day my brother and I only got sixpence back.
Very old gimmer here.

No, not Kent. It's a walk I do regularly but this time I went another half a mile and it was a farm/smallholding and they were in the field! I only saw them, I haven't walked one, it was Raera who did that Smile

TaighNamGastaOrt · 24/03/2020 22:13

hello! A lovely CV-free space! I can breathe!!

I swear if my DH shows me one more depressing story or rant on FB, I'll shove his phone somewhere!!

Also, I like alpacas. Couldn't manage a whole one though Grin

TheLarkDescending · 24/03/2020 22:24

You can actually buy the meat - I thought it was just something they put on for the tourists in South America but it’s available here as well.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2020 22:42

I occasionally see an alpaca in the fields near me, in with sheep. Apparently they protect the flock from foxes. They are half cute, half 'come on, make my day', aren't they?

theoriginalmadambee · 24/03/2020 22:47

Whaat?? Noo, I thought they were kept for their wool Confused.

SnakePlant · 24/03/2020 22:59

I bought an alpaca walk for my friend the Christmas before last. She took her DH and they loved it. Sheep and alpacas are my favourite animals. I used to be a volunteer alpaca feeder/water re-filler for a woman who kept some near where I lived . In the end she sold them to someone who had a bigger alpaca enterprise. They were so lovable and were obsessed with carrots . It felt like no matter how many you cared to bring them they were intent on setting some sort of carrot eating world record,

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2020 23:01

That too, maybe, but if there's just a couple I'd guess they're primarily guardians of the flock.

TheFaerieQueene · 24/03/2020 23:09

These daffodils have come out in my garden. I think they are rather ott but there is nothing wrong with that!

TheFaerieQueene · 24/03/2020 23:09

Well that didn’t work. I’ll try again!

TheGirlWhoLived · 24/03/2020 23:16

Well if they can ride one then so can I!! I’ll pop it safely on the bucket list. Maybe I’ll walk one first? Though I can’t say the need to hop on won’t overwhelm me Grin

Lovely to see everyone’s flowers! I haven’t topiaried this evening (as I’m not off out imminently) but I did move some dead leaves out of the garden whilst my eldest homeschooled my youngest. She is much more capable than me. Any good books recently?? I’ve heard that new Marian Keyes is ok!?

TitianaTitsling · 24/03/2020 23:21

Bloody ecstatic to see this!

DramaAlpaca · 24/03/2020 23:22

Glad to see the alpaca love on this thread Wink Grin

Thanks for this new space MNHQ!

DS & I were watching a couple of robins while pottering around the garden today. It was so nice to see some normal springtime activity amongst all the madness.

Littleshortcake · 24/03/2020 23:25

Lovely.. thank you. I have been baking, walking and decluttering. The kids have been so good. I am happy and I love mumsnet but we all need a break from this. Tomorrow I am going to enjoy a nice mug of tea and my Maire Kondo book & old magazines I have stashed away.

Thanks MNHQ BrewDaffodilBrewDaffodil

LargeGinOnTap · 24/03/2020 23:41

Oh wow those are some fancy daffodils.

OhioOhioOhio · 25/03/2020 00:07

Yay!

Roussette · 25/03/2020 07:15

Ooooh thanks for the tip on the carrots and the alpacas. I'm going to see them again this morning, and might take one.
(saying I will take one sounds very mean, but I can't get hold of much fruit or veg round me, so every carrot is precious!)

On my walk, I also see lots of these... they are called 'the hairies' by me Grin

Given this is an entire topic and not just a thread can I suggest that we post multiple posts in it so as to make active all about cats and puppies and the trivial....? So if everyone posted the post they had posted in answer to the OP as an individual thread we could populate most active and trending.

Lightuptheroom · 25/03/2020 07:30

Currently trying to convince our lovely Labrador puppy that we don't really need all of the pebbles from the back garden in the living room, think she's getting into landscaping!!!!

Grandmi · 25/03/2020 07:34

Thank you 🙏 Definitely need a break from the beast ! Beautiful morning out there .

ErrolTheDragon · 25/03/2020 07:56

I've started a Nature Notes thread

Edited by MNHQ to fix the link

MissFitton · 25/03/2020 08:07

Oh I am glad to see this. Had sworn off MN due to, er, well, you know but then realised just how much time I spend on here - even when working (which I'm currently not).

This morning I've been watching a gang of bull finches playing in my garden. Lovely.

TSSDNCOP · 25/03/2020 08:09

@Rousette they can't eat them whole, like a horse. Their teeth are more like a sheep. You need to chop them into little bits. (The carrots, not the alpaca!)
