...because I didn't close it over the weekend.

Today's special is eggs.

Boiled, fried, poached, coddled, convent, I might even do scotch eggs.

Tea and coffee as always and toast of course.

@Queenofpi hands over glasses so you can read the menu

sashh · 20/03/2020 03:52

I will never serve artisan anything, I don't even understand what makes something 'artisan', it just seems to mean 'expensive and poncy'

Morning all, kettle still on? I have some lemon and ginger tea that looks remarkably similar to guinea pig food if anyone fancies that over the string coffee ?

Frownette · 20/03/2020 05:13

Morning whatever45, yes please to lemon and ginger

Actually also have stash of homemade ginger marmalade that I'd love your feedback on? ( slightly embarrassed by now rather obvious obsession with marmalade)

Frownette · 20/03/2020 05:33

I've been thinking I'd love some nice marmalade recently! A friend of mine's grandmother used to make the most amazing marmalade, it was slightly zingy so perhaps she put ginger in. I could never figure out if it was lemon or ginger

ProperVexed · 20/03/2020 05:35

Good morning. Cake for breakfast is one of my favourite things. I would love a pastry....if that constitutes cake....a pain au raisin, please. And strong black coffee as it really helped yesterday. Thank you.

sashh · 20/03/2020 05:51

Pain au raisin, no problem.

I had some mango chutney from the indian supermarket (normally I make my own) it had a kick of something in it, not sure what, it was like eating mango chutney with a madras kick.

Super, thank you. For a second there I thought you were going to put mango chutney on it! I'm up for most things but.......

whatever45 · 20/03/2020 06:19

The ginger seems to really enhance the orange flavours rather than being overwhelming gingerish. Anyway back to the cake ..

Frownette · 20/03/2020 06:23

sashh was it good? I used to live near a fantastic indian supermarket, their deli snacks were amazing and loads of cheap, very fresh produce

sashh · 20/03/2020 06:36

@Frownette

I'm in Wolverhampton so I have a choice, I have a favorite sweet centre where i get samosas and then there are a couple of supermarkets near by.

My brother is in Cornwall so hundreds of miles from an Indian supermarket, at Xmas my dad drives down to mine, stays over and then goes on to my brother, so I have to send samosas with him. I sometimes send a 'veg curry kit' with punjabi tibda, kerala etc along with spices and 3 flavours of Bombay mix.

@whatever45

Fresh orange juice with a bit of grated ginger is good.

OK I'm back to my RL, I'll see the regulars tomorrow, and maybe a few new faces.

I've got a nice freshly brewed coffee on if anybody needs a mid morning pick me up? I certainly do!

Frownette · 20/03/2020 10:16

I would love one @Rainb0w

ProperVexed · 20/03/2020 20:16

Don't suppose you're open for a decaf black coffee? None in the house and if I drink normal coffee I'll be up a all night.

NoGravyForYou · 20/03/2020 22:09

Wonder if there's a slightly stale but still ok pain au chocolate floating about back there? Not doing well today.

Perhaps I'll add a shot of baileys to my got chocolate as well.

Frownette · 20/03/2020 22:20

@NoGravyForYou tough day? I wouldn't mind a cup of tea.

Need to get off the sofa :)

NoGravyForYou · 20/03/2020 22:26

@Frownette I'll be mother and pour. Sugar? How much milk, just say when.

Just struggling not being able to see my mum this weekend, doesn't feel right at all. But it's for best, so we shall prevail etc!

I think I need another pain au chocolate now to help my corona stone along.

Frownette · 20/03/2020 22:30

Lovely! Half a sugar please.

Yes it's strange times. I'm not quite sure what a corona stone is...

NoGravyForYou · 20/03/2020 22:47

Here you go, half a sugar is hard to do so please don't hold it against me if it's a bit more 🙈

It's a stone ( of weight) that I'll put on in isolation, trying to find the humour where I can. Though these pastries won't help, they're delicious!

Frownette · 20/03/2020 23:40

I have no moral high ground, I bought microwaveable sticky toffee pudding pots and clotted cream earlier!

NoGravyForYou · 20/03/2020 23:44

Shock Yum! That sounds delicious.

Perhaps a certain chef might add some sticky toffee pudding to her menu in the near future, wink wink nudge nudge Wink
