Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

@userxx

There's quite a few vitamins!

  1. Menopace multivitamins. I'm 48 and definitely approaching menopause (despite clockwork-regular periods, and no hot flushes). Been taking these for about a year and they're amazing. Just the standard Menopace. Not the fancy ones.

  2. Vitamin D 1000ug mouthspray - absolutely AMAZING for curing a "slump". Had always thought Vitamin D was bullshit 😆 but I'm a huge convert.

  3. Viviscal to thicken my hair up. That has lots of B vitamins do I think it's good for energy. It's spendy but often in the Holland & Barrett penny sale.

And 4), a Holland & Barrett own-brand blend of St John's Wort and Black Cohosh, which cheers me up and stops me wanting to shout/leave/bludgeon everyone at home.

Lovely thread , OP .
I am imagining us all sitting in a candlelit , peatsmokey parlour , with the wind banging outside on the window ; peacefully quilting or darning or watching a sleeping puppy and nodding contentedly that one of us has bought a fragrant hopeful hyacinth , another has
constructed wardrobes and another has pleased her daughter , and HRT is marvellous medicine and yes , it is too cold to cast a clout .
We are living in turbulent times ; I take great pleasure in these the small things .
The kettle is singing .

Good evening all. Have you all had a good day?

I’m happy because it’s my last day at work tomorrow before I’m off for 9 days. Feels like ages since I’ve had any time off so really looking forward to it.

I just know tomorrow is going to drag...

Dingadingdangmydanga · 12/03/2020 22:45

I had my first G&T after a week of antibiotics for a tooth. Lush!

Our chickens have just srarted laying. We have three, and we're getting two eggs a day.

FantailsFly · 12/03/2020 22:45

I’m watching Prison Break (yes, I know I’m about 7 years behind) and wondering if it gets better again after series 3 ...

SapphireSeptember · 12/03/2020 22:48

Just watched a Royalty Soaps video on YouTube, about to watch a train spotting one, and then maybe a How To Cook That one. (The latter is by an Australian lady with a lovely voice.) I can hear the trains on the east coast mainline from my house and that always makes me happy. Smile
Also I get paid tomorrow and I've got the day off work, which is brilliant. I'm going to the nice little cafe I like to eat at when I have paydays off work.

AutumnRose1 · 12/03/2020 22:52

I can only have a plastic curtain rail and the clippy hooks keep breaking. Argh.

Wellintentionedreader · 12/03/2020 22:54

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery ....she (a JRT) has my permission to eat me (not 'the foot' , obvs) if I am dead , until help arrives .

Wigeon · 12/03/2020 23:05

Nice thread. There’s a slot on Radio 4 which this reminds me of, can’t remember the same of it, anyone know what slot mean?

My things are: my sister is part way through being induced with her first baby literally right now and I am massively excited!

The pigeons who we watched getting jiggy on the top of our fence a few weeks ago now seem to have two smaller, teenaged pigeon children, and we are pretty sure it’s the same lot because there is a particular bit of the fence they all sit along, bobbing and chatting to each other. They are funny to watch!

WobblyLondoner · 12/03/2020 23:09

I just watched the penultimate episode of series one of Stranger Things. Oh my goodness, what an amazing show - fantastic casting (especially the young actress who plays El), amazing atmosphere & 80s vibe - it's brilliant. I know I'm about three years behind, mind - only just got round to subscribing to Netflix.

But so creepy ... Nerves ajangling just before bed not so wise!

AlCalavicci · 12/03/2020 23:12

@puds11 have you tried using their power?
No plastic at all and I find the smell lingers long enough to be nice but not over powering

OutOntheTilez · 12/03/2020 23:20

My 14-year-old son and I watched three episodes of "Friends." Just finished "The One With the Giant Poking Device."

DoctorTwo · 13/03/2020 00:30

Two things made me happy today: I tweeted something that made a renowned professor of economics laugh, and I had a really lovely chat with my local Big Issue seller.

Oh, another one, there was a blackbird singing outside my bedroom at 5.30 this morning. It woke me up but I didn't care as the blackbird's song is one of the most beautiful sounds in nature.

salsamad · 13/03/2020 00:49

I’m really pleased that I’ve managed to ‘persuade’ my Orchid to sprout a new flower spike from lower down on an old spike that had finished flowering. My DH caught me talking to the little sprout yesterday 😁.

puds11 · 13/03/2020 00:51

@AlCalavicci, I usually use the powder, but am going to try the liquid to if it’s stronger or not.

managedmis · 13/03/2020 00:54

Went to the dentist today and my god the hygienists butchered me! Not sure why she hated me so much 🤔

Teeth are clean though

In other news, we have found that DD is allergic to dust mites and tree pollen. So I've been washing all the bedding, soft toys etc. Hopefully her skin will be better this summer. Got antihistamine for the pollen.

Weather is gorgeous at the minute, around 0 degrees and sunny, love it! Spring is in the air

HeronLanyon · 13/03/2020 01:27

Melted a thermometer in my oven earlier. Was trying to see if turning o. The light really did heat it up ‘just right’ for proving dough (no it doesn’t). My oven therm starts too high so used a plastic room therm. Decided to ‘just turn oven on very slightly’. 10 mins later awful smell from forgotten therm.
Problems problems, eh.

userxx · 13/03/2020 07:36

@AnuvvaMuvva Thanks so much 👍. I will source them out and see how I get on. It's got to be better than how I'm feeling now! If I hear myself say one more time I'm tired I will explode!

SapphireSeptember · 13/03/2020 10:23

I'm very excited cos I found some Pukka teas that were discontinued, so I bought them, and I finally got my hands on the Hufflepuff make-up bag I wanted. Smile I have enough tea to last me several years months, but I can't stop buying it! I see a flavour I like the sound of, so into the basket it must go.

maggienolia · 13/03/2020 11:43

I have just looked round a new care home with a friend.
It was very nice and we got tea and cake.
She has now gone off to visit her dad in his existing home and I have just mopped the kitchen floor. And fell over on said floor going to let the cat in.

RedTartanLass · 13/03/2020 11:50

I'm going for a weekend away on a Rugby Tour today! What should I expect? I'm a Rugby Tour virgin.

Copious amounts of alcohol? Parents and kids rugby match?

Arrests?

Peachypips78 · 13/03/2020 14:26

@BabbleBee yeah the fuckers.

In today's news:

My poinsettia still hasn't died despite me not watering it.

My cat has sneezed on my duvet.

BabbleBee · 13/03/2020 14:30

I’ve made the mistake of sitting down before the school run.

I really, really, really don’t want to get off my cosy sofa...

Dowser · 13/03/2020 15:06

We decided against going to the surfers beach as it was a bit cool, so went to ordinary beach and chatted to English friends for over an hour.
Having a hot drink, then a long walk through town to the Lebanese restaurant at the top of the hill as we haven’t been there yet
It doesn’t get more boring than that.
Oh and the sun has come out a treat and it’s too late to hop on a bus.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 13/03/2020 15:09

Mundane news? I’m getting a butter dish for the first time and really looking forward to cutting some butter and putting it in. No more spreadable tubs.

It’s the little things in life!
