Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

National holiday here and I am binge watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix.

BearSoFair · 17/03/2020 15:00

Feeling very edge today but I've downloaded a new book on my Kindle (The Bees, have never got around to it before) so looking forward to settling down with that. Also managed to finally buy some eggs at the corner shop!

poorbuthappy · 17/03/2020 15:01

We bought a new tumble dryer on the weekend. We are now spending our evenings opening the door to the cupboard to make sure it's on as it's so quiet compared to the old one!

CruCru · 17/03/2020 15:03

I have just paid my credit card off while I remember. I have also sorted through the kids' underwear and anything too small has gone into a bag to be donated to their old nursery (it is all clean). I've also hung up some laundry.

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/03/2020 15:24

I moved into my new place in January. Today was the first day it was nice enough to get out into the garden, so I've just mowed the lawn, clipped back some roses and tidied up a bit. In my Own Garden (last house was rented). It looks very trim and I am very pleased with myself.

I am still having Washing Line Crises though. Hopefully cutting back the roses will mitigate these (every time the wind blows my washing snags on the rose bushes - very small garden!).

Off to walk the dog again and then settle in for Midsomer Murders at 3.55. It's the high point of my days off...

TenCornMaidens · 17/03/2020 15:31

Bought some bird feeders and bird food. Going to put them out in a minute, just need to drag myself to finish the hoovering!

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 17/03/2020 15:38

So nice to be out in the garden isn’t it? I cut my lawn yesterday, we’re finishing laying a new patio and I’ve got lots of seeds to plant 🌱

LefttoherownDevizes · 17/03/2020 15:59

I have two loads of washing hanging up outside and it pleases me enormously - even though DS has really bad pollen allergies and I shouldn't do it.

I found a bag of liquorice toffees in the cupboard so have been enjoying them too - revelation to DH - poor deprived thing had never had them before. Thorntons used to do amazing toffee - their brazil nut one was so delicious.

About to go for a little walk to buy some peppercorns as I can't use the ground stuff without sneezing

sockittome123 · 17/03/2020 16:31

Not much happened tonight, might go and see what shopping I can get for housebound DGP (not housebound due to the C-word). I intend to make some of my legendary brownies tomorrow night, so I'm praying that there will be eggs in the shop!

SomethingOnce · 17/03/2020 18:18

I bought a bag the other day, haven’t had them for years. They are amazing and I ate most of them myself.

Wilding · 17/03/2020 19:17

Ooh I love liquorice toffee. My favourite though always used to be Thornton's treacle toffee - so good!

I was hunting around for something sweet today and found a bag of chocolate coins in the back of a drawer left over from Christmas so that made me happy!

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/03/2020 19:19

It was light out when I walked the dog at nearly twenty to seven! Spring is on the way...

Cagedbirdsinging · 17/03/2020 19:30

Yesterday , after a quick sprint around the supermarket , I treated myself to a visit to B&Q . I have a beautiful pale yellow cammelia , four little lavender bushes (four ....for eleven quid !) , a rhubarb plant and a handful of packets of seeds of edible things viz ,tomato, beans , peas , nasturtiums and herbs .

@HeronLanyon , I feel your rake-pain !

I made a tasty dinner this evening, I dished it up and started to eat it as I walked out of the kitchen , not realising I had left a cupboard door open. It’s at head height and I walked smack bang into it - idiot!

LaneBoy · 17/03/2020 21:15

Oh ouch sofa

I had the perfect avocado today. #smug

powkin · 17/03/2020 21:18

Cat hitting me in the face with his tail (sitting on back of the sofa)

Had a nice M&S pea and mint soup today

Finished my masters dissertation on Monday

Having the bathroom re done, floor tiles went down today.

I'm embarrassed because I started a book group. At the first meeting I went on about what a book worm I am and I read every night etc etc.

I didn't even get halfway through the first book we decided on and now we're having another (Skype) meeting next week and I've only read the first chapter of the next book!

I might have to leave the group that I started!

HeronLanyon · 18/03/2020 04:51

amboseli oh dear ! could you rename it ‘chapter club’ or even (doubling down) ‘The Chapter Chapter’ ?

I once started a residents’ association. It’s now active with great website, currently an amazing support system for isolated residents, etc. I can’t take any credit as after a brief flurry of enthusiasm I flagged badly. Thankfully others stepped in. I moved and didn’t miss the slight embarrassment I felt about my sorry performance.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 18/03/2020 07:10

I am looking after my little grandson at the moment. His mummy and daddy are essential workers and are working extra hours so he is with us for a week.

He has cut his first tooth!

DoctorTwo · 18/03/2020 08:25

@PhoneTwattery Thank you for saying that. It's lovely when people say nice things about you isn't it? For me, it was a case of need vs want, he needed that coat, I wanted it, I'd never had a posh coat before. :o If this happened now the outcome would be the same.

Wilding · 18/03/2020 08:28

This morning all the white blossom on our 'wedding tree' has started to come out and it's beautiful (it was a present from my friends when we got married)

We also have a little frog orgy going on in the pond today - so much frogspawn!

HeronLanyon · 18/03/2020 08:33

Going out for a walk will sit for a bit in a square local to me. - good to be still when the birds and frogs etc are all frantically doing their spring thing.
Will sit looking at one of my fave trees - one of the ‘great trees’ - it’s bursting into bud for the 400 hundredth or so years (actually need to check this). I live thing about everything it has ‘seen’ going on around it.
Then back to full wfh day.
Have good day everyone.

MorrisZapp · 18/03/2020 08:35

We're watching the first season of Stranger Things. It's just soooo good. DS is 9 but he's not scared by it, and it's given us a whole world of stuff to talk about. This is basically why I became a parent.

THANK YOU STRANGER THINGS
