Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

Everyone who wanted the chorizo and cheese scones recipe, it's THIS ONE. I can confirm they are wonderful!

BearSoFair · 16/03/2020 14:45

I can also confirm that they are just as nice made with cheddar as they are with manchego.

And SomethingOnce not loo roll, but toilet cleaner! We're always well stocked on loo roll, for once I feel like having IBS has actually put me in good stead for something Grin

PenguinsOnParade · 16/03/2020 15:17

Just remembered I have some sobrasada in the fridge so that should work in the scones. Definitely making a batch tonight, thanks for the recipe. Grin

TheBeeatAmbridge · 16/03/2020 16:14

What a nice thread this is Smile

I got a free sample of Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Skin Protectant, put some on my hands last night and they feel so much better today!

It's a beautiful day here and I had time to have a little potter round town earlier in the sun.

Dinner tonight is fajitas which is one of my favourites, and there's a large glass of Italian red with my name on it too.

Lastly, I bought a cross-stitch kit of my favourite town in Cornwall and I'm going to start it tonight.

Nocti · 16/03/2020 16:19

Thanks @BearSoFair! Might make those at the weekend.

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/03/2020 17:29

I've just made cheddar and smoked paprika scones and they were amazing! Also got all my laundry out blowing on the line, which is great, and I've given the place a good clean through with my new mop and some Fresh Linen Zoflora (i have tiled floors throughout downstairs).

It's not exactly spring cleaning, but it's made the place smell lovely and fresh!

HaddawayAndShite · 16/03/2020 17:32

I got a job!! I had to resign due to bullying at the end of last year, and due to my anxiety and terrible interview skills I’ve been unemployed since October and got rejected for everything. Until today! My perfect job with a brilliant charity. I’m so happy I could burst.

peaceanddove · 16/03/2020 17:49

That is lovely @Haddoway I'm pleased for you x

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2020 17:50

The sun has reappeared round the end of the flats opposite. Small gap between flats and houses only visible in March. In September it is blocked by trees.

The magnolia is coming into flower.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2020 17:55

The post about washing blowing on the line has made me all whistful.

PenguinsOnParade · 16/03/2020 17:57

Well done @HaddawayAndShite!

SomethingOnce · 16/03/2020 18:55

Nice one, Haddaway! Star

Peachypips78 · 16/03/2020 19:27

Evenin'

Today:

My nail varnish is chipped

My sofa covers need washing

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/03/2020 19:31

Get 'em washed and on the line, @Peachypips78! It's beautiful drying weather and there's a wonderful feeling of satisfaction when you bring it all in fresh and dry.

Peachypips78 · 16/03/2020 19:36

I'll save it until I'm locked down- it will give me something to do!

sockittome123 · 16/03/2020 20:53

Yay, fellow horsey people! I was a pony mad child from about 7 years old onwards, at one point I was obsessed with this little bay Welsh A, I still maintain that he was my heart horse - never put a hoof wrong! Unfortunately he crossed the rainbow bridge a couple of years ago, but I still have a picture of him, I'll try and find it later.

Today I helped out at what I now know was my last Brownie meeting for a while - Girlguiding announced about half an hour ago that they're suspending all meetings until the C-word improves. Sad Sad

Wilding · 16/03/2020 21:12

@sockittome123 I was a pony mad child too, walls covered with posters from Horse&Pony magazine, read nothing but pony books... Never had one of my own though Sad

I actually wrote my MRes dissertation on pony books last year!

MyuMe · 16/03/2020 21:15

I visited the zoo earlier this month.

Did an animal feeding experience. It was amazing.
Want to go and do it again.

TwatCat · 16/03/2020 21:30

Can I join please? I need some boring grounding, calming chat.

I cooked a bloody gorgeous stir fry this evening. It was delicious.

I also have cats.

I also recently traced my family tree back to William the Conqueror (although apparently a large portion of the UK is descended from him so it's not that exciting). So I'm pretty boring really.

DoctorTwo · 16/03/2020 21:37

@Peaceanddove I bloody LOVE a good charity shop find. Well done!

Same Here @PhoneTwattery A couple of years ago I found a proper Abercrombie coat for £35.00. I pulled it from the hanger and a mum and her teenage son admired it explaining he needed it for college, so I let them have it, missing out on a gorgeous coat that would've fit me like a glove. But I wanted it and he needed it.

userxx · 16/03/2020 21:37

@Zaphodsotherhead What mop is it? I've placed an order at Argos for one of those spinney ones. I seem to be obsessed with mops at the moment!

Snoodleberry · 16/03/2020 21:42

Please can I join too - this has been a lovely read this evening. Smile

Today I made an epic cheesecake. I haven’t made a cheesecake in the last decade, and I am now wondering why not!

TwatCat · 16/03/2020 21:46

@Snoodleberry I made a proper 1980s trifle the other day. Complete with sprinkles.

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/03/2020 21:47

@userxx It's just a basic Vileda mop that comes with the red bucket. It's not fancy or anything, but it's bloody good at mopping the tiles. My floors are all lovely and shiny and being as I have a muddy wee dog who's just been in season, it's nice to see the place clean!

@sockittome123 - we had a bay Section A. He saved one of my daughters from a very sticky situation once, and I adored him utterly from then on. But I'm afraid my heart horse is a wonderful Fell pony, sadly no longer with us. He also looked after my daughter - all of my kids, in fact!

I've just put the clean sheets from the line on my bed, had a long, soapy shower and I'm now under my new duvet cover. There's nothing like a clean bed and clean PJs, is there? (my shift pattern means this is my weekend, so I'm indulging myself).

userxx · 16/03/2020 21:48

Because you have to eat it, this is why I don't bake!
