Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

@Zaphodsotherhead Ahhhhh yes, that's my reason for wanting a new mop, muddy wee dog 😬. The vileda spray mop is also very good for a quick once over. I really need to get a grip on my mop issues.

thenightfury · 16/03/2020 21:53

Currently in bed with my DS (cosleeping) and he's stroking my hand in his sleep❤️ nice chill day today doing Mother's Day crafts for his nan and grandma!

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/03/2020 22:00

Relaxing with PurplecatDog. He is dreaming, so there’s lots of leg twitching and sleepy growling, it’s the cutest thing! Finally worked out how to charge my Ring doorbell so that’s working again, and got my new cashmere sweater delivered and it’s sooo soft. Not a bad day really

timeforanewjob · 16/03/2020 22:00

Well done @HaddawayAndShite. Good for you!

Tonight I have made delicious sweet and sour chicken then read some Tom Gates with DS at bedtime.

I'm thinking cheesecake sounds a very good idea!

TenCornMaidens · 16/03/2020 22:00

I am watching TV with my husband.... The Goldbergs :)

loveaspiring · 16/03/2020 22:32

I am a bit 😬 but tonight I have tried to chill out by watching episodes 5 and 6 of the pottery throwdown and eating Christmas pudding. Off to bed in a carb coma now.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 16/03/2020 22:41

I’m eating custard creams and drinking a glass of white wine. Watching the Victorian House of Arts and Crafts on the iPlayer. Black cat is sitting in the doorway as usual, supervising me.

Yabadee · 16/03/2020 23:01

Thank you so much for starting this wonderfully grounding and normal thread. My heart was going so fast watching the news earlier I genuinely thought I was on the road out. And I’m not an anxious person at all!

Today DD had nursery, and I wfh for a bit then went to the gym. We’re getting married next year and I need to lose 4 stone. 7lb down! Also, I’m getting a breast reduction (hopefully) at the end of July so surely going from a JJ to a C/D will help with weight loss.

DP bought me lovely new KG wedges for Mother’s Day they are stunning.

But he’s sucking up as he’s supposed to be home this weekend but now isn’t coming home (he works in the London area, were in Glasgow). He was called to the emergency gas works in Tooting on Sunday and is still there. Getting paid well for it so we can’t really afford for him to turn it down when we have the wedding to pay for. 2 weeks now til he’s home!

Hoping to take DD swimming tomorrow, will see how fast my heart is beating in the morning

My first ever attempt at jam worked perfectly. Just had a lovely slice of hot toast with my own strawberry jam.

Used this recipe. Smile

Because of the unmentionable thing, I am feeling more able to say no to meeting up over mother's day birthdays etc and bit of relief to be honest

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2020 05:20

Every single post has been wonderful !
nocti your teeny tiny baby blue tits sound magical.
I once had a little babby blue tit somehow end up in my flat. I ‘asked’ it to hop into a box and it did. I put box on lower window sill close to where I thought parents were likely to be. Wasn’t sure how good a flier it was yet. Stood for ages guarding it. Just when I was despairing it hopped to the edge and did a spectacular and quite showy flight off to a high gutter. Best moment ever. Thought my heart would burst.
Bird song right now in dark and silent central London is completely everything to me.
Day ahead full of sorting. May be decamping to coast as have 2 over 70 compromised relatives and might be sensible for various boring reasons we don’t need to go into.
Peace all.

Wilding · 17/03/2020 05:32

I was a bit annoyed at waking up so early but I'm enjoying listening to the birds sing in the garden.

I've been lying in bed making plans for the week - if I can borrow a tile cutter from somewhere then I might tile the kitchen which is something I've been putting off for about a year!

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2020 05:51

Good idea wilding. Just be careful! I’m a bit worried by all this diy being planned. I think diy injuries are significant reason for a and e visits (I include myself having once - just doing some garden tidying ffs - stepped on a heavy iron rake which slapped me hard in the mouth requiring stitching).
Have strange feeling we all need to be extra careful for a bit.
Good luck !

Wilding · 17/03/2020 06:10

Eek that sounds painful - yes I'll have to be extra careful!

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/03/2020 09:44

Well, the new book is well underway (I have to have it done by October and I was worrying that I may have committed to more than I could deliver), but am sitting in bed typing away, the ideas are flowing, my dog is under the covers with me and all yesterday's housework means that I've got that lovely feeling when everywhere I look is clean and tidy.

Plus a really good strong cup of tea. Right now, stop distracting me, you lot. 2,000 words to do today...

TheBeeatAmbridge · 17/03/2020 09:45

@HeronLanyon I love the story about the blue tit! A baby squirrel ended up in the bedroom once and DH had to throw a towel over it so he could pick it up. Good practice for when a much angrier adult squirrel ended up in the massive living room of the guy downstairs and we had to help get it out Grin

peaceanddove · 17/03/2020 09:48

My task today is to gather up all our teenagers' massive hoodies that slowly accumulate on their bedroom floors and wash them all and then peg them out because it's mild and blowy here today, so they'll dry in no time.

Then I'm going to declutter the spare room and hang the new curtains in there that I bought last Easter Blush

PhoneTwattery · 17/03/2020 10:04

@DoctorTwo Wow that was really good of you!

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2020 10:35

thebee I too have had angry squirrel which decided to suddenly make curtains move just as taxi to airport was showing up. Bloody hell that was a day !

By the way I’ve just caught up with recent TA episodes and Won’t do spoiler in case you (or anyone else) haven’t. Funny I think the cv news hasn’t yet filtered through to ambridge - sometimes they are much quicker to drop in references. Not that there is a ‘they’ obvs because we are just eavesdropping but you know what I mean.

But did you vacuum the skirting boards? Grin

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/03/2020 11:32

Oh bugger....

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2020 12:06

Just looked at flight tracker app. Thought it might be interesting/unusual currently. Looked normal! Many hundreds of flights in and between continents Interesting.

Duchessofblandings · 17/03/2020 12:10

HeronLanyon

I discovered this in early January and eagerly watched my son’s flight from Los Angeles coming in to land. I was convinced something terrible had happened as I watched it ostensibly landing - then taking off again, several times.

I alerted my husband that something was clearly very wrong: He explained the process of stacking 😊

HeronLanyon · 17/03/2020 12:12

Ha ha. That’s a great belly laugh I’ve just had ! Thank you !

Duchessofblandings · 17/03/2020 12:47

Thank you for reminding me about it 😁
