Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

My hair has been greying and thinning terribly just lately, and in the post yesterday I recieved, from my lovely friend, a large pot of home made luxury shampoo. Packaged with my name printed on it- smells soooo nice, used it tonight and my hair feels soft and beautiful ❤ it's nice to think somebody cares.

LordGarmadon · 15/03/2020 22:57

@LaneBoy I think butterflies sound perfect for that. The whole cocoon/transition and then flying free symbolism.

managedmis · 15/03/2020 23:09

Dried some towels outside.
Made courgette and cranberry loaf, DD helped.
DS had a party. Ds's first tooth fell out.
Bought some Maybelline mascara on special.
Played outside with the kids, weather was fab.

RedTartanLass · 15/03/2020 23:49

Just came back from a weekend away. Everyone was "normal"!

The bars were busy. The shops wee full. It was good! All good! Kids had a ball. Lovely sea air. And got a day off tomorrow! All is good!

MelAndShoe · 16/03/2020 00:26

I ate too much bread today and feel sick

@Shannith I'm not sure whether to be terrified or encouraged by that! I am trying to keep in shape as much as I can now, although if the gyms close that might all go to pot... My dream is to one day own a Lippizaner from the stud at Piber but that's looking very far in the future at the moment! It's lovely you can share it with your DD though - I share my love of horses with my dad and would like to share it with my child, although knowing my luck they'll be into cars or something instead Hmm

@amusedbush well done on the dissertation! I finished mine for my MRes last September and I still haven't got over it, don't think I've written anything since that was longer than an email Grin

We're trying to decide whether to go ahead with some building work at the moment, I think we'll probably cancel and have just realised that that means we can get a kitten sooner rather than later... Squee! I would love a burmilla but I feel a bit guilty about going to a breeder instead of rescue so will have to make a decision there.

Lovely bright morning in London.

I’m in bed reading the news, DS is messing about with Lego and DP is making a cuppa. Might have a biscuit, dunno.

Aaah Smile

Kalim8 · 16/03/2020 09:30

I too contemplated having a biscuit! It called to me with a beautiful voice, but I have resisted so far.
Having a lovely cup of tea (English breakfast from aldi).
I can hear little birds chatting, and the fresh air smells like Spring.

Wilding · 16/03/2020 09:32

What a difference some sunshine makes!

If it stays nice I might cut the lawn later.

itsme · 16/03/2020 09:33

I've dropped my 7 yo dd at school, lovely sunny morning in Shropshire. Now home to clean and have a cuppa.

spiderlight · 16/03/2020 09:36

Beautiful morning for a lovely long dog walk today, but our awkward sod of a cocker spaniel has taken against the perfectly lovely walk we have from the end of our road, along a riverbank to some nice big fields. He just puts on the brakes and refuses to shift. Nothing bad has happened to him down there but he prefers going somewhere in the car, and when DH is at work that's not an option!

LaneBoy · 16/03/2020 09:39

Today is the first day I’m not wearing my coat! It’s lovely out here. I’m just waiting for the bus to go to therapy.

I am pleased as punch because my weight loss this year now totals just over a stone. Several to go to be honest but slow and steady is fine by me!

I’ll read back on the thread later as I’m going to try and read my book on the bus. I started it before Christmas and just left it for ages 😳😳😳

tallah · 16/03/2020 09:42

We are on holiday and just had a family nap! Just waiting for the boys to wake so browsing MN

SomethingOnce · 16/03/2020 09:46

Wishing you a beneficial 50 mins, LaneBoy Smile

Family naps are the business! Hope you feel refreshed, tallah.

BearSoFair · 16/03/2020 09:50

God I needed this thread, thank you all Flowers

Off to get a very much needed haircut soon, then home to do some baking...just need to decide whether it'll be chorizo and cheese scones or banana muffins. Sainsburys delivery coming this afternoon, only one item unavailable which was a very pleasant surprise!

SomethingOnce · 16/03/2020 09:56

Was it loo roll, Bear? Grin

userxx · 16/03/2020 10:57

chorizo and cheese scones

Say what??? I've never heard of such a thing....... it sounds devine. Off to google recipe.

PenguinsOnParade · 16/03/2020 11:23

Chorizo and cheese scones sound amazing. Shock I feel like I need some but I'm not going out to buy chorizo.

Nocti · 16/03/2020 11:44

Lovely thread. Just what we all need.

@BearSoFair Chorizo and cheese scones? May we have a recipe please? They sound delicious!

Nocti · 16/03/2020 11:49

Oh and to respond to the OP rather than just comment excitedly about scones, there are teeny tiny blue tits playing in my eucalyptus tree and they're adorable. Also, my seeds have finally arrived in the post so I can get on with sowing later today. Probably with The Good Life on in the background for added gardeningyness.

Shannith · 16/03/2020 12:09

@Wilding I am spectacularly lazy so I'm sure you'll be quicker at getting riding fit than me.

I'd love to ride a Lippizaner. I've ridden Arabs and Friesians (like riding a rocking horse) but managed to fall off the one time I did extended trot on a proper dressage horse. Admittedly I was riding without tack but suspect I'd have been bounced off even if I'd been attached with Velcro.

DD has had little choice but to like horses though she is no where near as pony mad (crazy) as I was so I have to be careful not to push it. She's a total tomboy though so I live in hope.

Good luck with your new arrival and keep the dream of getting back in the saddle. It's worth it on days like these when your horse is not being a tit.

Mines a Welsh D mare, it's spring and doesn't she know it. Smile

Re the kittens, please think about recusing one. It's kitten season at the moment and there will be loads of all breeds in rescue. Depending on where you are I can recommend some that have them at the moment.

I foster cats/dogs/kittens so there are loads that would love a home. There are also breed specific rescues for orientals if your heart is set.

I've got a kitten, well she's nearly a year now and she's lovely but also a tit.

I'm looking after my neighbour's kittens at the moment one is a beautiful 7 month old burmise (sp?) rescue and he's lovely.

So here's what I've done so far this beautiful sunny day...

Tried to gentle my current foster cat who is terrified of me by hand feeding her chicken. She still hates me. Only had her a couple of days and feliway is arriving today so I hope that will relax her a bit.

Played with my neighbour's rescue kittens - I'm cat sitting and she's stuck overseas until mid April so for longer than expected. One of whom thinks he's a dog and plays fetch.

I've also done some work, tided up, hoovered and opened all the windows.

I'm also going to walk the dog dressed in running gear so that by the power of magic it will have the same effect as actually running.

I'm going to put all the dead stuff from the garden into the garden waste bin and lift some weights/do yoga in an effort to get some core muscles that will make be more able to stay on my horse when she decides she is scared of leaves/puddles/sunlight/her own shadow/thin air.

And do some more work at some point. I got a load done between 7 and 10 so feel justified making the most of the sunshine.

Happy spring everyone!

Shannith · 16/03/2020 12:12

cheese and chorizo scones sound amazing.

I've got cheese and chorizo in the fridge. Get me.

But I have never made a scone before and I am terrible at baking that's not lemon drizzle so if you have an idiot proof recipe that would be great.

Duchessofblandings · 16/03/2020 12:19

AntMansVan

I saw the first squirrel of the year this morning! Must mean spring is coming, the bunnies will be up next. “

Our magnolia is in glorious, furry bud and the rhododendrons on the way.

Wilding · 16/03/2020 12:45

@Shannith I do feel like rescuing a kitten would be better - all my previous cats have been rescues. I don't have my heart set on a Burmilla, it's just that my friend has a couple and I totally fell in love with them! To be honest I'd love any kitten though really, hard not to even when they are being a little bugger and ruining your tights/curtains/sofas etc etc. I'm in Oxfordshire, don't know if that's anywhere near you? But we do have plenty of rescues here I can get in touch with.

This week's baking project is going to be bagels from scratch - should keep me busy for a couple of days! Just did a 5k run and now going to have some greek salad and moussaka for lunch as a treat!

@Duchessofblandings I envy you your magnolia tree - I love them so much and always watch out for them this time of year. There's one round the corner which is just starting to come out but none in full bloom yet.

peaceanddove · 16/03/2020 13:07

Love this thread so much. I've finally mastered my new hot brush so have finally got that full but choppy look that I've always wanted Smile And have found the perfect rosy nude lipstick which is Extreme Pink by Clinique, but honestly it's not extreme at all. So armed with my fab new hair and lips I have persuaded DH to take me out for a nice lunch. Happy day Grin
