I have no grandparents left, my last died when I was 27. Yet I know someone who is almost 30 and has all of her grandparents still living. Can't help but feel a little jealous.

I was 9, my ds was 2.

SunshineDays2019 · 08/03/2020 11:32

35

YappityYapYap · 08/03/2020 11:34

I was 16. My grandparents were in their late 30's when my mum was born and my other grandparents were in their early 40's when my dad was born.

This time around though, my mum and dad were only 21 when they had me then I was 27 when I had my DS so my DS should have grandparents until he's an adult as my parents are only 52 and my DS is 3. All my grandparents were early-late 60's when I was born

I never knew mine. The only one still alive while I was around too died in another country when I was about 9. I don't know what you do with grandparents. Luckily dh does.

I think they were fortunate to pass away at a very good age surrounded by their family.

My dads father died when I was a teenager his Mum when I was a baby.My Mums parents who I was really close to died when I was 17 and 19. My friend who is 48 granny just died,I couldn't imagine having had your grandparents all your adult life.

Origamiheaven · 08/03/2020 11:37

I had all 4 until I was 36. Both grandad s died quite close together. Paternal grandmother died at 108, I was 50. Maternal grandmother is still alive at 97. I am 54.

GoldenKirst · 08/03/2020 11:37

I was 15/16 when my last grandma passed away. One grandad passed before I was born and I've never met the other... only knew my grandmas and they were both the best 😊

I do get jealous of people being able to nip round to their grandparents for a cuppa and a chat. Luckily my OH's nana is still around and she treats me like her own.

  1. He was 92.

I lost the others when I was 7, 29 and 34.

My husband still has his gran although she’s got dementia now. He’s 45 and she’s 97.

SallyWD · 08/03/2020 11:38

I was 25 when I lost my last grandparent (20 years ago). I still miss them all and think about them a lot

autumnkate · 08/03/2020 11:38

I’m 37 and I still have 3

Doggodogington · 08/03/2020 11:39

My dads parent died when I was 5, it made me so sad that I never had them. My last grandparent died when I was 35.

TheGinGenie · 08/03/2020 11:39

I'm 33 and I have one left in his late 80s. I had 3 great grandparents alive when I was born though and all my grandparents until I was 22.

Gibbus · 08/03/2020 11:40

My maternal Grandad died before I was born. My wonderful maternal Grandma died when I was 10. My lovely, cuddly Paternal Grandad died this time last year when I was 30 and just a few weeks before his 90th birthday. His funeral was held the day before I was due to be induced for my DS (he would have loved my son so much ). So at 31 I've still got my paternal Grandma, which I'm not very close to. My grandad was the more affectionate grandparent on that side.

Morporkia · 08/03/2020 11:40

I was 39 when my gran died.. my husband still has his 2 grandmas and he’s 49 next week. Both of them are going strong at 90!

PointlessAddict · 08/03/2020 11:40

My BIL lost all his within the space of a year when he was only 11 or 12

GordonBennett20 · 08/03/2020 11:40

I'm 27 and still have 2 grandparents.

The first of my grandparents died when I was 16 so feel lucky to have had them all in my life during my formative years :)

When I was born I had 4 grandparents and 3 great-grandparents! :)

Lou0390 · 08/03/2020 11:40

21 and I miss them terribly 💔

Seventyone72seventy3 · 08/03/2020 11:40

My last grandparent died when I was 43. They married and had children young which obviously helps!

heartonastring · 08/03/2020 11:40

This makes me so sad. I was 19 when all of them had passed on. I've just realised that my DS is 2 and only has one granparent left. Luckily they have an amazing bond and spend lots of time together.

Bookoffacts · 08/03/2020 11:42

One when I was 2.
Then 24, 25 and 28.

BoswellsBollocks · 08/03/2020 11:43

DH is 41 and still has 1 grandparent alive.

Our DC only have 2 grandparents left as both of my parents died when they were still young. DH’s parents are young and healthy though so hopefully be around a while yet.

Andonandonan · 08/03/2020 11:43

34 but he wasn’t a nice man so really I was 30 when my last ‘proper’ grandparent died.

I was very lucky to know all my grandparents - my first died when I was 8.
