The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

here's another one fleas Wine.

No word from DD1 in French Alps today. Hoping silence is good news, but it is unusual.

yolofish · 10/03/2020 17:29

DD in French France is alive and well so that's good news, although been napping all day as not feeling well which is not quite so good news.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 10/03/2020 17:42

Oh I hope DD is ok Yolo!!

And thanks for your compliment!Smile

Although, I wouldn't say I was a force of nature unless it's having to force oneself to go and obey nature. In a cold house I'm sitting under a warm blanket trying to delay having to go upstairs and obey nature's call to peeBlush

But I reckon you definitely are a substantial force to be reckoned with Yolo have loved you on the threads regarding you know what.

.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 10/03/2020 17:44

Im off to get some alcohol in a mo. All this wine emoji gives me cravings. Probably get a ciderSmile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/03/2020 18:22

Just realised that my enforced self isolation means I won't be driving anywhere, which means..

yolofish · 10/03/2020 19:13

catherine you need one of those OTT leccy blankies we discussed...

fleas rock 'n roll!!

DD1 going to call me later, DD2 still waiting for a train in London - do wish they would say 'work from home' if you can, because she could and a just under 4 hour commute per day is a stupid waste of anyone's life or time.

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 20:21

Fleas, big Wine from me. Estates are so horrible to sort out from another country. I did the same with my DF estate (DM died when I was little), so I have some inkling of how horrible it must be.

Yolo, hope your DD calls soon and tells you that she is on the mend. Big Wine for you as well.

Not much going on here, just back from LittleBoyHippo’s school event and got all three little Hippos to bed. Mr Hippo is home tonight (yeah!!), but make snarky remarks on the fact that the boiler had been off. I turn it off at night and when I am out. I don’t trust the boiler!!!

< looks at it suspiciously>

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 20:26

Noooo!!!!

I asked Mr Hippo to buy a bottle of gin. If that stupid Corona virus hits, I want to be able to make G&Ts. I saw a big bottle and thought nothing on it. Turns out it is Grappa?!?!?!? Who buys Grappa??? What do you do with Grappa??? Why???????

This Is A Crisis!!!

TheSherryEmoji · 10/03/2020 20:31

De-lurking to say I love square sausage.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/03/2020 20:33

Grappa!!! I'm guessing heavily discounted on account of its country of origin...

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 20:56

Fleas, that would explain it. Mr Hippo loves a bargain. Would you know what to do with it? I mean how to make it taste less awful?

OVienna · 10/03/2020 21:13

Checks in with a wave and a "Hi!!!!"

TheSherryEmoji · 10/03/2020 21:23

Grappa may come in handy in a desperate emergency but I do recommend that you refrain from mixing it with tonic.

Sherry is good in a crisis. I agree with the Mustress.

7Worfs · 10/03/2020 21:26

Hey, OV!

I've never tried sherry. It's on my to-drink list as soon as I stop BF-ing.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/03/2020 21:30

It's brandy like, grappa, or so I thought. Could you add it to coffee? I think of brandy as something to bring you round from a faint.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/03/2020 21:32

Sherry is very under-rated. It's delightfully powerful in a genteel sort of way.

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 21:34

Grappa and coffee... Hmm might be Mr Hippo’s plan. Not sure about it myself...

Maybe adding it to lemons, honey and hot water if I do get the Corona virus? I do like a hot toddy when I am ill...

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 21:36

I would really like a sherry now, you all have convinced me! Sadly we only have wine, whisky (Mr Hippo’s 12- year old something) and the stupid Grappa....

OVienna · 10/03/2020 21:48

I am sitting on a sherry stock. Tempted to break it out but must conserve in case of quarantine. Once it dries up I'm onto the Limoncello. Do you the Italians are in that situation now?!😱

OVienna · 10/03/2020 21:52

Graceful - I also have an apricot thing I got in Vienna last fall. Plus some English vermouth...which is good. Grappa we lack.

TheSherryEmoji · 10/03/2020 21:55

An apricot thing I got in Vienna last fall

That sounds so delightful.

Was it delicious and nutritious?

Ilovellamas · 10/03/2020 22:18

Grappa is regarded as a healthy drink in Italy - it aids digestion.

‘Nuff said.

OVienna · 10/03/2020 22:21

I havent touched it yet. This weekend! I will REPORT BACK. It was technically a gift for DH...

7Worfs · 10/03/2020 22:21

Ouzo is also said to aid digestion.
It aids mine by putting me off food and drink tbh. Envy not envy etc etc
