The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

Hope everyone plus families are thriving today!
We are doing fine finally, sending positive vibes your ways Brew

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 09:36

Don't say things like that, Worfs.

I generally find that my house falls down (or similar) when I claim that everything else in my life is fine.

Oh Gosh, I take it back 😬

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/03/2020 10:17

You know how some people in life are drains and some radiators? I feel amongst radiators here, warm and cosy.

I have left the Thread of Drains for a while until it retains its equilibrium.

Out with anger, in with love.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/03/2020 10:18

Regains not retains. Honestly, my IPad hates me. And I bought it a lovely new case too.

7Worfs · 09/03/2020 10:22

Never heard of drains and radiators but I love it!

The brew emoji Brew always looks to me like a very blurry marijuana leaf.
It only now occurs to me that’s probably meant to be the MN logo! Blush

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 10:44

Fleas, That is unacceptable. I think the IPad should be more grateful and realise that with freebies comes responsibility Grin

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 10:51

A blurry marijuana leaf

Eh?

I have not seen that many marijuana leaves (which is odd when you think how misspent my life has been) but I cannot see it, Worfs.

That mug of tea looks like a …………. mug of tea to me.

THE ROBBING BUTCHER WAS SHUT AGAIN

And if we lived in London I would think that he had got lost in Smithfield Market or something.

But here in * the RB would be spending all his time going to Smithfield and back, as it takes eleven hours to get to London from here.

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 10:57

THE MUSTRESS MHOR HAS A LIGHTBULB MOMENT

That is why the RB's shop is open and closed in such a haphazard manner.

He goes to Smithfield Market for his wares.

Not (presumably) for the Stornoway Black Pudding, though.

GOSH

Maybe he goes to the Island of Lewis for the Stornoway Black Pudding.

MYSTERY SOLVED?

Is this why he is sometimes open and sometimes closed? Is it interminable travel all over the British Isles?

He must be permanently knackered.

Fleas my laptop hates me too.

In fact a good deal of modern technological advances seem to despise Mhor Cottage generally.

Hmm, unexplained absences from the village.

Aha! The Robbing Butcher is currently undergoing expensive dentistry at the Smile Clinic in Budapest. This requires several visits. He is reluctant to be seen mid treatment without his full set of gnashers. Once completed, the brilliance of his smile will be enough to light up the village. Unfortunately the dourness of his nature may mean that the new teeth never see the light of day.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 13:28

Did someone mention marijuana tea?

I'm up for it.

Your detective skills are prodigious Mustress Grin

Hope the dental treatment in Budapest provides a smile of sterling (and suitably enchanting) quality. One wouldn't want a crown in one's sausages.

I myself am due a dental visit I've been avoiding for months. They've stopped sending me reminder texts.Blush

IS THE ROBBING BUTCHER DOUR

I am not sure.

The RB's son usually serves me. He disappears to the back of the shop when I request certain things. I always assumed that that was where the RB hung out, so to speak.

He certainly looked dour the day he boasted about the size of his new eggs. (*see posts passim)

What sort of 'eggs'

Not Scotch ones?

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 14:45

No.

Not Scotch Eggs, although they are delicious. A friend of mine used to make them.

Actual hens' eggs, and bigger and better than the previous efforts by the hens, allegedly.

They are very very tasty eggs indeed.

OP posts:
CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 15:00

Oh my local butcher used to do these premium scotch eggs they were divine. It was a real treat I'd skip home with a scotch egg in a little see through plastic bag.

Then I tried ones from Morrisons and ugh no.

I wonder what the hens were eating. Clearly they were happy hens!!

I am jealous of Yolo's chickens. I'd love to keep a couple, fresh organic eggs sound wonderful. The garden is big enough but

  1. can't afford and
  1. You have to think about the neighbours and the noise. I literally have foxes lying down in my garden all the time, so attempted murder would be happening every night and everyone would be fed up of the nervous clucking.

I had a friend whose chickens used to fly over into her neighbours all the time and they had to keep knocking for her to come retrieve them. She refused to trim feathers. God knows what they thought, but they put a smile on it.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 09/03/2020 15:07

Id love my own chickens, mrjeff says no ! 🙁

7Worfs · 09/03/2020 15:10

I grew up with chickens (among other animals), used to find eggs in the most unusual places

Cindersinblue · 09/03/2020 15:29

I have chickens
Just two now

I said to Dh one is not looking too well
Oh she's fine
She's wobbling around the garden like a drunk

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 15:34

Cinders I would love chickens too.

Do you get many eggs from yours?

OP posts:
yolofish · 09/03/2020 15:58

Chickens are fab but they do have their trials.
After many years of chicken keeping we now have: an omlet cube, plastic and easy to clean; attached to a 12' sq wired run with covered roof for shade and weather proofing, with corrugated plastic for weather proofing on the sides; attached to a 16' outside wired run with wire roof. Outside bit has wire roof as antibird flu precaution, and a wire 'skirt' all the way round, weighed down with slabs as antifox device. It is a veritable chicken palace.

As DH says, the most expensive eggs in the world, but it makes me happy and he built most of the stuff anyway.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 16:11

Fresh eggs . That sounds so delicious.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 16:13

Am actually feeling a bit sad. Am having a hospital appointment (Lots of tests) and I have gained almost 16 pounds over two years. That is even worse than I though. I might have to do something about it Sad
