The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

aw hippo have a big hug, and perhaps a scone?! (sorry, flippant, not meant to mock). I could do with losing 16lbs but then I'd have to give up Wine so I'm not doing it.

Cindersinblue · 09/03/2020 17:09

Hope the tests go okay hippo
One egg a day at the moment from our chickens

Now what to have for tea?

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 17:15

Hippo I found I had gained about that just since December.
All that sherry and gin - not to mention chocolates.

Back to the grindstone now.

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

It will be fine < tells myself to stop whining and making a plan >

I have developed some silly heart condition of some kind (being investigated since 6 months). So am forbidden coffee (hence eating more chocolate as little Hippos keep me awake), I can’t exercise (until exercise ECG) and I am doubling the Wine I usually drink. So should probably have expected it, but I guess I had convinced myself my clothes had shrunk... power of self delusion is amazing!

OK, having a large Wine after small Hippos gone to bed tonight and making a plan - which will extend further than locating the weight loss board on MN Grin

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 17:43

LittleHippo tells me I was squashy and cuddly even before my recent weight gain, so I think a plan is in order Grin. Upwards and onwards!!!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 18:15

Ahh Graceful so sorry to hear about your health issue (hugs) I have fibromyalgia and cannot exercise much which was really hard as I had always been vain about my figure. The weight is piling on (and I love food) and nothing fits from last year.

In my case I just eat more but walking in the park helps sometimes. I need the weight loss board too but its complicated as I have severe fatigue and need the energy from food too. Can't win.

yolofish · 09/03/2020 18:36

Clothes do actually shrink in the cupboard, it's a known fact. In the same way that clothes hangers breed like rabbits. Wine

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 19:00

My clothes hangers do not multiply, yolo.

I am very tidy.

My clothes, however, do seem to change size quite often.

I had a blouse which was far too small for ages. Then I went on a diet and coincidentally the blouse got bigger.

Since Christmas, though, it has shrunk again.

V. disappointing.

Hippo hope you are feeling better now. It is a bind when you can't exercise, as losing weight is so much easier when you can get your metabolism going.

I don't think that sounds like a huge amount of weight over two years though, so don't beat yourself up. (Unless of course it'll help you burn off a few calories, just kidding).

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 19:05

Oh and Hippo.

I had an alleged heart condition for eighteen months. I was led to believe that I could drop dead at any moment - seriously.

After extensive tests (which dragged on for months and months) I was told that although there was a minor anomaly, it would not kill me and I need not take any special measures.

I hope the same happens to you. I know how scary it is. Flowers

Flowers for everyone going through health problems

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 20:08

Catherine, thank you, big hug back. So sorry to hear about your fibromyalgia. I have heard that it is awful Flowers. I can relate to the tiredness , needing food and not being able to exercise. I don’t know the solution really Sad.

Thank you fleas, I know it could be worse, I think it is the not fitting in my clothes (or underwear) which is so annoying. Maybe I could hit or pull the clothes? Burn calories and potentially make the clothes bigger?

Mustress, that sounds like a horrible experience, so sorry to hear that. But the ending was good - and promising for me. I so hope they will reach the same conclusion for me < crossing fingers >

LaMarschallin · 09/03/2020 20:46

Also extending sympathy for those with health problems.

It's easy to forget - since people generally post perkily and wittily on this thread - that often these are brave faces.

I offer Flowers, Gin (less fattening than Wine?) and/or Brew. And genuine sympathy.

But also (for those pesky pounds that I for one need to shift, and returning to "silly LaMa") I give you:

The Bossy Church Lady's Dry Scone Diet.*

Just a mere half of one will render you drily spitting out crumbs and begging for liquid (that's where the Gin comes in) and unable to produce enough saliva to eat for some time.**

Or, at least, it did for me after I got home after presiding over teas with her...

*Proudly beaming at own use of Important Capitals.

**Bitchiness is "Not In The Spirit", is it?
Oh dear.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 20:54

Oh, Dry Scone Diet, that is a new one . Now that is a diet I could manage!!!

I do think I could exchange one meal a day for Dry Scones and Gin.... let’s see, breakfast (making the school run more interesting) or lunch (gearing up for the afternoon)? Hmmm.... it cannot be dinner. Mr Hippo would approve of the Gin, but I would never get the Dry Scone past him....

NEW EMOJI REQUIRED

We need an emoji for a bottle of sherry.

7Worfs · 09/03/2020 21:56

Mustress I may know a keyboard warrior online activist who can help you with your petition to MNHQ GrinGrinGrin

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 22:15

Worfs I am aware of this online activist already.

Thank you, though. I am always glad to receive support when I require MNHQ to design emojis for various kinds of alcohol.

When the sherry bottle emoji is on general release I will start my campaign for an emoji for Buckfast.

This will particularly please my male Scottish cohorts.

I love scones (pronounced to rhyme with gone, not cone) but they do always seem to dry your mouth out, hence requirements for masses of tea or lashings of champagne. Also jam and clotted cream - in that order. Unless cheese scones, which are completely different.

In other news, DD1 is 250€ lighter to be told she has sprained her ankle and possibly has ligament damage, and told not to ski for 3 weeks. Insurance will pay though. She is considering a couple of rest days, as has only 6 more weeks in resort and would be a waste not to ski?

DD2's finger is not currently yellow and smelly but it hurts.

She is snotting, as am I. She is longing to self quarantine for at least 14 days. I can see the appeal too actually.

Night all! xx

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/03/2020 22:54

May I suggest you go shopping and fill up your cupboards BEFORE ringing 111 and being told to self isolate?

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 23:03

I wouldn't pay any attention to the codswallop advice doled out by 111.

Their algorithm of symptoms is utterly bizarre.

OP posts:
Cindersinblue · 10/03/2020 06:48

No 111 here
I have a cough but I always have a cough in winter
It makes me feel very uncomfortable if I cough when I’m out

I have scones but no clotted cream

Im trying not to read the news and then read the Coronavirus threads on here which I think may be worse

Stuffs I pad under mattress
And heads to make some very strong coffee

yolofish · 10/03/2020 08:25

Where do we stand on tea vs coffee first thing?

Personally, it has to be tea first and then a couple of coffees.

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 09:18

Tea first, definitely. Used to be a big coffee later, around 10-11, but the decaf stuff just doesn’t give the same hit somehow...Hmm

GracefulHippo · 10/03/2020 09:24

Yolo, Flowers for having sick DDs far away.

Corona virus brrrr. I am not usually bother about illnesses (first year ever with a flu shot, the GP told me I was having it when he reviewed blood pressure and increased my prescription), but this one seems....not nice....
