The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

Catherine

Reminds me of the Bi - Curious posts.

Fags - Curious.

You hit the nail on the head. A series of truly disastrous events (which would make Lemony Snicket pause for thought) brought me to The Fags.

I had been a rabid anti-smoker till then. I mean, really against smoking.

I was surprised by how much it helped. Obviously, it doesn't help at all, but it feels like it does IYSWIM.

Jeez. Thinking about it makes me want a ciggy.

Mustress Flowers

I hope that horrible time is all resolved. Must have been awful for you to feel the need to do a complete 360. My sister is a nurse and sometimes she just needs to smoke for a few weeks. She says it helps with the stress. I've been curious, but having quite severe asthma saved me as I was warned by the asthma nurse I'd be in hospital if I ever dabbled. Saying that I know many people with Asthma that swear it helps with their symptoms. I have no idea.

Anyway do not want to bring back nostalgic cravings! What is for dinner today?

I'm ashamed to say I have nothing cooking on a Sunday! My Jamaican GrandMother is turning in her grave. Sunday dinner is always some big affair served with rice & peas If I tell my mother (she lives round the corner) she'll be flying over with some food whilst cussing me for lack of preparedness and I don't want to stress her out.

All I have is chicken drumsticks and thighs in the fridge...as for Rice&Peas I cannot be asked. Might do a cheat with black eyed peas from the tin. I've not been taking my thyroid medicine and having withdrawal symptoms so zero energy.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/03/2020 13:56

I grew up with a smoking mother (and not in a good way!) so it was inevitable I'd be smoker from early teens. Gave up when I was pregnant (but interestingly, not when ttc), supported by DH who went cold turkey with me, the saint.

I was a proper smoker, loved it, missed it, but never went back to it and now can't be in the vicinity of cigarette smoke without getting a sore throat.

My DM gave up smoking at 84, mainly because I stopped buying them for her. Her dementia meant that she couldn't remember lighting them so had them burning like joss sticks in every room. When she was in the care home she used to pretend smoke an imaginary cigarette, like we used to do as children.

TheMustressMhor · 08/03/2020 15:08

It's okay Catherine - all is well now. It was thirty months of utter hell.

But that was twenty years ago.

Over the years I have given up smoking for (sometimes) six months, then started again. So I am not getting too excited about a mere fourteen weeks.

Still. It's good to have got this far.

Dinner tonight - roast turkey breast with many vegetables, gravy and bread sauce.

Oh I do love roast dinner.

Fleas at the moment Mr. Mhor is still smoking, but only in the kitchen.

I live in hope that he will be moved to stop. I am not hassling him though.

Potatoes? Surely there are potatoes?

Cindersinblue · 08/03/2020 15:44

In sure I wrote,something
No idea where it went

I have cake but no dinner

As dh offered to do some shopping and forgot nearly everything

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 08/03/2020 16:10

As dh offered to do some shopping and forgot nearly everything

That is totally unacceptable Cindersinblue

Serve him cake with gravy for dinner!

TheMustressMhor · 08/03/2020 16:25

"Vegetables" surely includes potatoes?

Anyway. Yes, potatoes are on the menu.

I hope you're close by as we're three hours from Glasgow.

FFS, PIL arrived at 12.30, having been told one-ish. They have Only Just Left. I am a broken woman.

DD2 now in walk in centre in local town, for how long god only knows.

I have to work tonight as promised someone somethng for tomorrow morning and haven't yet done it. It's quite a lot of work... but I have Wine and fags (where's the fag emoticon when you want one??)

Disappointed by this as would rather gossip about the Mountbatten-Windsors.

LaMarschallin · 08/03/2020 18:02

Ah, Mustress, my nose is fine (actually, there was a time I'd have paid good money to have my nose remodeled, but perhaps a little more subtly).

And you're right - these church things can get vicious.
No, 7, I didn't insult the bossy one's scones to her face - I'm not suicidal Smile - but I just glowed with a little extra pride when my flapjacks were wolfed down and her (Saharan) scones weren't Wink.

It's a good thing I go to church to nurture my forgiving and meek spirit 😇

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 08/03/2020 18:30

Glad potatoes are confirmed on the menu.

Poor you yolo but you are very conscientious person. More than me. I'd be ringing said person that work will be available Tuesday. I definitely need more conscientiousness.

Glad your DD got to walk in centre.

yolofish · 08/03/2020 18:58

LaM you are truly a saint on this earth.

DD2 home, finger not broken but dressed wound - nurse said, can you wiggle it, and she could. This doesnt inspire me, because when I broke my ankle very badly, mr. yolo asked if I coud wiggle my toes. Indeed I could, but it was still very badly broken (the fact I actually heard it break may have been a Clue). Running joke in this household is that DH is medically trained - like fuck he is.

catherine I've got to get it done tonight because I actually promised it last Tuesday.... oops!

yolofish · 08/03/2020 20:52

Nurse also told DD2 to expect the dressing to go yellow and smelly. This also does not inspire me, or expect her finger to thrive very much. Will be keeping a close eye.

Hope baby 7 improving and wishing the worfs a night's sleep again.

Right, to work now - bon soir mes amies.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 08/03/2020 21:08

Night Yolo ( don't work too hard) and Night 7worfs. Hope baby worf sleeps through.

Night Mustress, hope your roast went down well.

Lamar I know you'll be rewarded with great sleep tonight as you have been so saintly and good!

Cindersinblue I hope something suitable emerged for tea!

TheMustressMhor · 08/03/2020 21:35

Bonsoir, poissondeyolo.

Aujourd'hui j'ai desiree les cigarettes.

BEAUCOUP.

But I did not give in.

LaMa could you email me a flapjack, please?

worfs hope le bebe sleeps for you.

Catherine - I have sent you a Message Personelle.

Bonsoir la maitresse mhor et toutes mes amies au fil d'ici.

GracefulHippo · 08/03/2020 21:54

This thread is such a lovely read. Thank you all for being so supportive of our silly boiler issues. It really cheers me up!

Yolo and 7 hope your DCs recovers quickly.

I spent almost 3 hours watching LittleBoyHippo play football in the rain today. Together with LittleHippo who wasn’t very impressed and refused to go to her own practice after. LittleBoyHippo had “the best day ever” as his team won the tournament, but I went to bed for an hour after and am now on the wine. Such a cold and wet day!!

LittleHippo and BigGirlHippo both complaining about nausea, headache and tummy ache. Hoping all better tomorrow telling oneself to stop reading Coronavirus threads and children symptoms

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/03/2020 22:29

I've hidden the H&M thread again. I only went back on to delay some fairly essential cleaning I should be doing. My God, there are some miserable fuckers out there in the Sussex camp...

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 07:01

@Myimaginarycathasfleas

Being as this strays into TAAT territory we cannot say that we agree with your sentiments, but if we could say 'we agree with you' we would.

Halo
yolofish · 09/03/2020 08:02

catherine you have a way with words, have you ever considered going into politics?!

Cindersinblue · 09/03/2020 08:48

Tea turned into salad
Followed by scones

Dh is now sulking because ds missed an appointment

And wants be to go shipping with him

Hope everyone thrives today

Yolofish Grin

I'd prefer Spin Doctor. Less accountability.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 09:10

Spin Doctor is less accountability, but slightly more malevolent Grin

yolofish · 09/03/2020 09:17

catherine you're surely not Dominic Cummings in real life?? You are, I claim my £5 Grin
