I agree it was bullshit. His wife knew. So they, him and her, both have made the decision, for reasons yet to be revealed. That it was prudent now for him to come out in this way.

You don't do that unless you're intending on getting with a man publicly or there is another story about to break. You just don't. The interview was done for a reason, it's timing was decided carefully. There was absolutely a reason for it, and it wasn't "I can't live a lie anymore, but don't intend to get with a man and will stay with my wife"

FWIW My gay child just said to me that PS can’t be exclusively gay because he has had a sexual relationship with his wife. He and his wife are separating, so it looks like she didn't know.

Many didn't know Adele had a child.

I am pretty sure most people did. Adele never kept it a secret.

She has kept her son out of the public eye, and didn't reveal his name for quite a while, but she certainly didn't keep it a 'secret' that she was having a baby/had a baby!

I believe his wife knew too. He wouldn't be proud if he only came out recently to his wife, he'd feel ashamed.

So... if Steph went into the marriage, the kids, being his manager with her eyes wide open that's one thing.

If he said 'darling I might be bi-curious do you mind' and she said no, that's another thing.

If he pledged undying love, til death do us part, forsaking all others - that's quite another thing altogether.

Even if you assume she had her suspicions early on, having them confirmed - at whatever stage over the last 27 years - must have been quite shocking.

And for the kids, of course they still love their Dad, but he's a different dad than he was before, how could he not be?

Add in the publicity and you have a big mess.

Shinycat why? Many teens don't watch terrestrial TV so perfectly possible that she doesn't watch TM - or see adverts for We Buy Any Car! And at age 15 the whole broom cupboard and kids TV presenter thing is well before her time.

TBH I wouldn't expect many young teens to know who he is.

It is brave to come out any time, even more so if you’re in the public eye.

My 15 year old daughter knows who he is, and has never watched him on This Morning. There is quite a popular Facebook meme page dedicated to him called Schofe reacts that she likes.

He’s not a different dad. Your sexuality doesn’t define you as a parent.
