As if the BBC would want to sack Phillip!!!! They pay him so much for good reason!

TeaLibrary · 07/02/2020 16:30

I feel very sorry for his wife and children. A lot of talk about his bravery but what about his poor family

CantSayJack · 07/02/2020 16:31

Gay or not, PS is still an insufferable bore, he’s had a lot of bad press lately so all very convenient to come out now...

smotheroffive · 07/02/2020 16:32

Its also insulting to judge someones sexual orientation from the outside based on levels of effeminate behaviours, or butch, for women.

Its nonsense and insulting

TheSandman · 07/02/2020 16:32

My 15 yr old DD (veteran of many Pride marches) just came from school.
"What's the gossip?" I asked her.
"Not much." She said.
"No buzz about Philip Schofield coming out?"
She looked at me blankly.
"Who?"

Gr3yCl3y · 07/02/2020 16:33

His wife sounds like an amazing strong kind and supportive woman. I hope my son has such people in his life.

Frankly appalled at the shitty, gossipy, speculating, judgemental posts on this and other threads.

JaneJeffer · 07/02/2020 16:33

I think Eamon Holmes response to it all was a bit telling
I was dying for him to say "you're a gay man now" a la Catherine Tate.

Urkiddingright · 07/02/2020 16:35

I don’t think he really needed to have a dramatic coming out hugs and kisses on national TV. Why not just quietly divorce his wife and find a male partner if that’s what he wants? There didn’t really need to be this whole singing and dancing circus.

I only feel sorry for her. I’m sure she has known for some time but I don’t think she has known for the duration of their marriage. Not many women would marry and procreate with a homosexual man, she was duped and deceived.

Doyoumind · 07/02/2020 16:36

I think what you perceive as a lack of empathy is based around how he has gone about it. Why not sooner? It has been more acceptable to be gay for a long time. His children have been old enough to cope with this for some time. He definitely knew he was gay years and years ago. The rumours are decades old.

Also, he has made a big song and dance about it. I don't see why it's necessary. He's gay. So what? It's no one else's business but his and his family's. He could have quietly separated and then started seeing men openly. But that wouldn't have got him as much attention.

Urkiddingright · 07/02/2020 16:37

Oh and I’m in no way judgemental about his sexuality, I couldn’t give a toss. I am, however, judgemental of people who lie and deceive.

He married her in the 1990s when he was in his thirties. People know they are gay or not when they reach puberty so he knew and still married her. It wasn’t the 1960s, he wouldn’t have been locked up for being gay.

EmeraldShamrock · 07/02/2020 16:38

@TheSandman Can I ask when she came out or realised she was gay.
DD is 11 the end of the month and is adamant she is gay after pride 2 years ago. I don't mind I am not sure if it was the rainbows and fun or if she'd be fully aware of her sexuality yet.

smotheroffive · 07/02/2020 16:38

He definitely knew he was gay years and years ago

How can anyone apart from ps state this? Did he make a public statement years ago that everyone else has missed?

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 07/02/2020 16:38

Another selfish man, me me me

It is not brave Confused

Dickorydockwhatthe · 07/02/2020 16:38

Well I had no idea completely shocked, funny that Phil vickery and fern announced their divorce too

Gr3yCl3y · 07/02/2020 16:39

Why does it have to be sooner? And it isn’t acceptable to be gay for many. Do you not ever watch the news? Homophobic bullying and language is reall.

ExEUCitizen · 07/02/2020 16:39

Fascinating. You know what, I don't care what adults get up to in their own bedrooms with other consenting adults. Never have, and never seen much need for all the fuss. As long as that's fully informed consent.

Andcake · 07/02/2020 16:40

I really hope his wife has a lot of support. There will be everyone talking about his bravery and she will get shoved aside despite years of deception. She will feel she was never truly loved and question everything.

She will get ignored...and be expected to suck it up.

He is a chicken for pursuing marriage and deceiving her.

Been there seen it done it. It's a very isolating place and confusing for children.

But yes how brave of him to use a woman for 27 years when she could have been with someone who truly loved her

smotheroffive · 07/02/2020 16:41

I also disagree that people know if they're gay or not when they've reached puberty

There's a lot that a pubescent really doesn't know but is trying out, anf working through. Thats what happens in puberty, the brain and body is changing, that, in and of itself causes a lot of confusion and often fear and anxiety

AHintOfStyle · 07/02/2020 16:41

@FreakStar

I think it's you who knows nothing. Have a poke around on t'internet or twitter. Search celebrities with beards or 'beard club' on twitter:

As if the BBC would want to sack Phillip!!!! They pay him so much for good reason!

I don’t think they pay him anything Grin

AHintOfStyle · 07/02/2020 16:42

@Dickorydockwhatthe

I'm also 👀 at that news in the same week!

motherheroic · 07/02/2020 16:43

@Urkiddingright There is no such thing as a 'quiet divorce' or 'quiet dating' in these circles when the press are such vultures.

derxa · 07/02/2020 16:44

I was dying for him to say "you're a gay man now" a la Catherine Tate. Grin

smotheroffive · 07/02/2020 16:45

Many slebs manage perfectly well to keep their dc protected from press invasion, and their marriages too, shock horror.

Many didn't know adele had a child. It all depends on how the slebs act and court attention.

hennyspennys · 07/02/2020 16:46

I believe, but I may be mistaken and if I am I apologise, that these people are/were part of the LGB community.
