This is incredibly sad. Gigi had a promising basketball career ahead of her too Sad

@Aloe6 He was found NOT GUILTY I am heartbroken about Kobe's death and I am in no mood for you. 9 People were killed and it might have been his ENTIRE family. Wife and 4 daughters.

Please go away.

SecretWitch · 26/01/2020 23:01

Sorry for his daughter.

RaininSummer · 26/01/2020 23:02

Not a sports fan so had never heard if him but it is indeed a tragic waste of life and so sad for his family and the families of others also killed.

FordPrefect42 · 26/01/2020 23:04

Guys, hate to backseat admin but if people speculate too much this thread could get deleted 😞

As a PP said he was never found guilty and the legal principle of “innocent until proven guilty” must stand, some of you here are no better than reporters from the Sun.

eomma · 26/01/2020 23:06

madness. his poor wife, too Sad

getupnow · 26/01/2020 23:08

He was found NOT GUILTY

That's not true though. The alleged victim didn't want to proceed to trial & therefore the case was dismissed. A civil case was settled & he even said he acknowledged that the victim viewed the situation differently to him

ssd · 26/01/2020 23:08

So very tragic and sad, RIP everyone on that helicopter and prayers go out for their families.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 26/01/2020 23:10

Weird how people get so worked up and emotional about people they only knew from TV and printed media.

Even more so when he was a rapist.

I'm not sad for a complete stranger who sexually assaulted at least one woman.

www.vaildaily.com/news/bryants-statements-to-detectives-recording-and-transcript-of-interview/
Bryant was using his 'kink' to explain why the allegedly victim had bruising on her neck.
Police interview:
...the strangling thing you have to go talk to this girl (inaudible) Michelle.
Detective Loya: She has a bruise on her neck.
Bryant: Yeah I mean that's you know me and Michelle, that's what we, we do the same thing.
Detective Winters: That's your thing. How many times did you have sex with Michelle?
Bryant: A lot. She'll tell you the same …

Bryant had a 5 month old baby at the time.
Detective Loya: Imagine your daughter being nineteen and she comes home and tells you this, how would you react?
Bryant: I know, I'd be very pissed. I mean I would listen to her side of the story but I would (inaudible) too (inaudible) if she'd do anything like that.

@MustangsDraggedMeAway

He wasn’t found not guilty, the criminal case didn’t reach trial because the woman involved wouldn’t testify at the 11th hour. After being hounded by his legal reps and the press. However Bryant did reach a settlement with her in the civil case she filed against him. Make of that what you will.

You’re heartbroken about a rapist who you’ve never met? Hmm

midwestcharm · 26/01/2020 23:12

@FordPrefect42 I wondered about putting alleged rapist rather than rapist.
I do believe the victim's story however and want my choice of words to reflect this.
I am also very aware of the impact of fame and wealth in circumventing the American justice system.
It is perfectly possible to be guilty of a crime you are not convicted of and given the successful rate of rape cases highly possible in this area.

NancyDrewCrew · 26/01/2020 23:13

alleged not allegedly

There are 166 pages of court transcript in the link above
He did apologise. He was not found guilty in a court of law.
Do your homework. Draw your own conclusions as to the measure of the man.

ssd · 26/01/2020 23:13

Mn at its finest this thread, mn at its fucking finest.

RightEarlobeBreath · 26/01/2020 23:15

Whatever he done in his life, just remember that at their last moments a 13yr old looked to her father to save her and he was helpless to do so!

Christ, how ghoulish. It’s almost like people enjoy wallowing in second hand sadness on threads like these.

RoseAndRose · 26/01/2020 23:15

There is no death penalty for rape, and this is a dreadful incident.

I feel very much for his DD, the rest of his family, and also for his teenage victim.

AmelieTaylor · 26/01/2020 23:16

His poor wife - her husband and one of her daughters 😭. Poor kids, their Dad & Sister, both young & both suddenly just gone Life really is so fragile.

Blueemeraldagain · 26/01/2020 23:17

He was not found not guilty. It never went to trial because the victim was so vilified by the media and public she felt she couldn’t testify.

He wrote a lengthy apology that was read out in court (where he even mentioned that he believed she was not accusing him to get money), settled a civil case and bought his wife a $4 million apology ring.

It’s obviously devastating for his family but I don’t really understand strangers wailing and beating their chests.

MintyMabel · 26/01/2020 23:21

obviously devastating for his family but I don’t really understand strangers wailing and beating their chests.

I don’t understand people wanting to shit on him just hours after his death. Very unnecessary.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 26/01/2020 23:22

It’s almost like people enjoy wallowing in second hand sadness on threads like these.

Grief tourists. All competing to be the most upset and heartbroken, but being very careful to do so over their social media. It's pathetic.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 26/01/2020 23:23

Very unnecessary.

So's rape, but here we are.

kateandme · 26/01/2020 23:24

thankyou to most posters.youve restored my faith after reading some o the shit on twitter.and one especially from youve guessed it Mr Morgan twathead.

Blueemeraldagain · 26/01/2020 23:25

Telling the truth about someone isn’t shitting on them. I haven’t called him names or implied he deserved what happened. If anything I’m shitting on the people who insist on indulging in perfomative grief.

kateandme · 26/01/2020 23:27

BuzzShitbagBobbly thankyou that was the dry boom of a comback i needed to see today after this story. and Grief tourists such a perfect term

DrivingMsCrazy · 26/01/2020 23:32

@MustangsDraggedMeAway he wasn't found not guilty as it never got to court. The victim was named, pictured and harassed so much she couldn't continue and the charges were dropped before the full trial. However there was a civil settlement out of court and Bryant did release a statement admitting they did have sex which he viewed as consensual but "could now see she did not". 🤮

TigerOnATrain · 26/01/2020 23:35

This thread is a disgrace, with some of the things being said about this man who has DIED - along with his daughter.

I hope it's deleted soon. It's vile. And so are some of the comments on it...
