After the old school reading thread, who else loved point horror!?

OP posts:

I think I got through all of the point horror and point crime books that the local library had. Just checked and The Lifeguard is available on kindle! I might have to buy it to check if it was as good as I remember

CornishPorsche · 26/01/2020 11:18

I borrowed most of my teenage books from the library - it was so frustrating having to wait weeks for one from another branch!

I loved this series, I can picture lots of the covers, but can't remember many of the stories.

Oh I loved the Point Horrors! My favourites were The Cheerleader, Mother's Helper and one about a girl who could freeze people if she didn't like them (off to google that one).

ANuggetOfTheFinestGreen · 26/01/2020 11:26

Freeze Tag! Also Camp Horror.

JacquesHammer · 26/01/2020 11:28

Loved them! Got a collection of about 90, a bag and a hoodie Grin

My teen daughter is enjoying them now!

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 26/01/2020 11:28

@strawberrypancakes - yeah she lived by the lake that had a meteorite had crashed into thousands of year before and left some kind of alien bacteria in it. The popular kids had gone swimming there and become infected. Her best friend - and former girlfriend of the popular boy - figures out what they’re doing and that’s why she starts shooting them at the party at the beginning. It’s SO GOOD 😆

loved Point Horror. My favourite was about a girl who moved into a big house and her bedroom was in the turret. A vampire lived in there and could grant her wishes, so she wished to be beautiful and popular. However, the price was that the vampire was sucking the life out of her family. Does anyone remember what that one was called?

Spied · 26/01/2020 11:31

Fab books. I'd totally forgotten about them.
My DC would love them!
My favourite was The Boyfriend.

Starburst8 · 26/01/2020 11:36

I loved these books when I was younger. I still have them in a shoe box.
The accident and Dream Date were my faves.
I remember freeze tag and others that have been mentioned.
I also vaguely remember the boy next door.
Maybe I should dig them out and re-read them.

Livpool · 26/01/2020 12:09

Ah I LOVED these

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/01/2020 12:11

I loved them all especially RL Stine

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/01/2020 12:12

Whart was the one with the girl who became popular and beautiful because of a vampire? Was it just called The Vampire? That was my favourite.

crustycrab · 26/01/2020 12:13

How has nobody mentioned Fun House!!?

JacquesHammer · 26/01/2020 12:17

My favourites were:-

Funhouse
The Diary
Beach House

ChangeInTime · 26/01/2020 12:18

That was The Cheerleader.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 26/01/2020 12:20

Some were bonkers..others actually pretty good. I remember the Babysitter ones. She had a lot of bad luck!
Evil twin..the girl died falling from ski lift! That freaked me out.
The Girlfriend

Also Chris Pike. Loved Remember me! Then there was 2 more books in the series and they were slightly odd...

CandiceSucksCandy · 26/01/2020 12:33

They are all on kindle unlimited!
Thanks to this thread I am rereading them all.

MrsDrSpencerReid · 26/01/2020 12:46

Christopher Pike’s Whisper of Death. That was a weird one.
I’m pretty sure that’s how I found out about abortions!

Loved Point Horror, I used to get one from lucky book club each month. It was the best feeling when it got delivered to your class room!

hlc123 · 26/01/2020 12:53

I loved Point Horror and Christopher Pike Books. Think all mine are in our loft, would love to read-read them. I am sure the book people have mentioned with the girlfriend injecting air bubbles into her diabetic boyfriend is Remember Me by Christopher Pike. Also loved his Chain Letter trilogy.

BertieDrapper · 26/01/2020 13:08

Yeah I used to read these.

Also remember the Forbidden game trilogy, the babysitter etc sure I read a load of them!

Always got some for my birthday and Christmas.

Also like the TV series, whose afraid of the dark...

TinselTortoise · 26/01/2020 13:10

I had completely forgotten about these books. Might have to have a root around on ebay as my 12 yr old would love them!

Patsypie · 26/01/2020 13:16

Oh god I've never heard of these! They look fab, I'm buying them!

scrivette · 26/01/2020 13:28

I bought some in a Charity Shop a few weeks ago to read, I loved them.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 26/01/2020 13:31

I loved these. I can only remember Teacher’s Pet for some reason though. Involved a girl in the woods getting a note that I’m sure said ‘Teacher’s Pet, Teacher’s Pet, you’re going to die...but not just yet’.
