Fancy fish. Maybe salmon

JulietJanuary · 01/02/2020 09:32

Fish tonight here.

DandyAF · 01/02/2020 09:46

Thanks 7Worfs for the 16:8 info Smile So it really works, huh?

Cuttingthegrass · 01/02/2020 09:46

Fish here tonight and a slow beef in ale to sleep w cook overnight for tomorrow

TheMustressMhor · 01/02/2020 09:47

Ha Ha Ha.

The New Patio Calculation Thread is still going strong.

Mr. Mhor is cooking breakfast. I am on the edge of my seat, waiting to find out what consistency the fried egg will be this morning.

The Robbing Butcher nearly tripped me up when I strode past his shop on my way to the chemist's this morning. (His shop is next to the chemist's)

I imagine this was on purpose. Someone has tipped him off that this thread exists and that TheMustressMhor is me.

This is turning into On Saturdays We Eat Fish Grin

TheMustressMhor · 01/02/2020 09:48

Upon reflection, though, this does seem unlikely.

? am I getting paranoid delusions.

(anything is possible)

Ha! Just heard the egg being cracked into the pan. Will update soon.

DandyAF I do 16:8 five nights a week.

Between 10 am - 6 pm I eat a low carb diet.

On Saturdays and Sundays I allow myself some carbs. and eat during the evening - but not much.

It has worked for me.

I have lost six stone as a result.

I am still in bed under a sleeping puppy. She is resting her head on me and snoring and twitching in a deep sleep. It’s so sweet that I don’t want to move and wake her even though I need a wee. And breakfast.

TheMustressMhor · 01/02/2020 09:53

And we are going to have sweet and sour chicken tonight Yum Yum.

I do absolutely no exercise. That's why it's taken me two years to lose six stone.

I am incredibly lazy.

I have updated my username! Time flies.

New month new rule on my eating. I too had taken up the no snacking, 16 : 8 thing before the Christmas feasting. I was also much lower carb but that's a whole boring essay!

The whole month of January I have slipped back into smaller meals but lots more snacking and I can feel and see the bad effects.

For anyone trying the restricted eating window I would say to make it manageable I had to move to eating lower carb, high fat, higher protein. When I had tried to do similar on my normal diet I was far too hangry and lasted half a day!

FelicityFebruary · 01/02/2020 10:00

Mustress, well done on your weight loss. It's some achievement.

7Worfs · 01/02/2020 10:01

DandyAF I think in comparison to other ways of eating it’s relatively easy to do without feeling deprived.
Easy to adjust as well - on days where 16:8 can’t be achieved, it’s still worth doing a shorter fast window.

I also think it has health benefits - humans aren’t meant to be grazing all day.

DandyAF · 01/02/2020 10:03

Thanks for info on 16:8!
I definitely need to reduce snacks, and evening snacking in particular.
I am in awe of 6 stone weight loss Mhor
Love the Feb name FF what a great idea.
When you both say you go low carb, how low are we talking? I’m never quite sure what people mean when they say low carb as it seems to vary.

FelicityFebruary · 01/02/2020 10:05

We are hoping the rain calms a bit before heading out. I'm going to the robbing fishmonger!

7Worfs · 01/02/2020 10:07

Btw if gamification and competition motivates you, I recommend some apps - one for tracking fast hours and one for logging daily weight (I use Happy Scales).

DandyAF · 01/02/2020 10:07

I think even starting with 12:12 would be a good start for me. My natural body clock is to be awake at night and eating then.

DandyAF · 01/02/2020 10:08

Thanks 7Worfs yes gamification & motivation definitely motivates me!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 01/02/2020 10:30

Very impressive Mustress. So you can eat what you want as long as low carb between 10 - 6? With a bit of easing up at weekends.? It sounds deceptively doable. I've found that no diet ever invented has been doable long term, but this sounds more like a way of eating. Is that it?

At the moment I graze 24/7

FelicityFebruary · 01/02/2020 10:32

"Low carb" is so subjective!

For me it was cutting out breakfast cereals including my daily oats, all flour based stuff and just having a tablespoon of rice or potatoes with some meals. Filled up on lots of green veg and other lower carb veg alongside eggs, meat and fish. Still ate some fruit, nuts and cheese. I do love cheese!

I was not fanatical and went out and had sausage and mash in a pub for example. It was lovely but I left half the mash. I did not want to finish it which was unusual! The thing I was stricter on was the eating window and that's what I plan to go back to.

TheMustressMhor · 01/02/2020 10:36

I have found over the years that if I eat bread or potatoes that always sabotages my weight loss.

When I say "low carb" I mean none of the following:

  • Cakes

  • Biscuits

  • Sugar in tea

  • Sweets

  • Chocolate (because once I start I cannot put it down)

and for me:

  • Bread

  • Potatoes

I can and do eat rice.

I abhor pasta anyway.

I sometimes do Slimfast milkshakes as then I know exactly how many calories I am having.

So no - you can't eat what you want. But the 16 hour fast works well for me.

Cuttingthegrass · 01/02/2020 10:40

But how was the egg?????

FelicityFebruary · 01/02/2020 10:42

And I should say I gave myself more leeway at weekends if I really fancied something. I just was no longer eating white carbs all day long.

TheMustressMhor · 01/02/2020 10:48

Jeez.

cuttingthegrass - the egg was its usual hardness.

V. disappointing.

I am beginning to think that I should start a thread about it.
