WendyMoira

I think that single pouring cream is splendid stuff.

I sometimes just add it to a bowl of custard.

I have never heard of bananas and custard. Are the bananas cooked in come way? At school we had chocolate custard.

It's didn't taste like chocolate.

(how dare you declare no custard affiliations. No wonder there are countries tyrannical enough to not stock custard. Violation of human rights)

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 15:43

You mean you ruin cream by adding it to custard?! 😔

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 15:45

LaMarschallin

I will consider your request for someone else's custard a little later.

It may be possible to accommodate you.

As a general rule I make six times more custard than is strictly-speaking necessary, so there should be some over.

No the bananas are not cooked Angry. Just cold sliced bananas with hot custard poured over them. A standard seventies/eighties school dinner pudding. Completely unacceptable.

There are countries tyrannical enough to not stock custard

I am speechless.

Fucksake fleas how did we get from custard to electric blankets?

In the spirit of coziness, which I feel is the emerging theme of this thread, Mustress.Grin
Also I am a fairly recent convert and cannot believe I did not know about the wonder of these things before.

Well, my dissertation entitled Pink Gin - Why? has been published and the follow-up, Bananas & Custard - Why? will soon be available.

If anyone is interested, my publisher is offering both these tracts at a knock-down price (£248.93).

Send cash or cheques to: MustressPublishingHouse, Small Village, Argyll, Scotland.

In other news my dd has airily told me that we need to bake every Sunday now as shop bought cakes and scones taste bitter compared to home made so she doesn't want shop bought anymore. She has autism so very sensitive to flavours and textures. Fine by me but it made me smile because my Mum used to bake all the time but we turned our noses up and yearned for garish shop bought Mr Kipling French fancies and jam tarts. It's only now I realise how lovely her baked stuff is/was. She used to make these massive "eclairs" only they were profiterole shape and huge! They were so good 😋

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 15:51

Old 80s school dinners!!

Mind you I have no idea how they compare to modern school dinners in terms of nutrition.

There were some horrors, and the dinner ladies would force you to finish what you took! I do also remember them being generous portion wise though and there being more variety.

I remember the custard being very waterbased and starting out thick then very quickly turning thin.

Did anyone have coffee cake as afters at school dinners?

I'm not saying I wouldn't take anybody's unwanted* cream off their hands either.

Or cheese.**

*You have no idea how foreign that phrase is to me in reference to cream.

**Not Jaarlsburg. Obvs.
It's not cheese.

Nothing to see here.

I❤jb is fine.

Not gagged and bound at all.

Now, about all those lovely yellow dairy products...

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 16:18

It was gross Mustress It literally tasted like coffee on a base of pastry. Somehow they missed the inclusion of sugar

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 16:29

Austria

There is vanilla sauce but that’s wrong

And the cream well that goes y the name Schlag Obers

GracefulHippo · 28/01/2020 16:45

@Myimaginarycathasfleas does your dislike of custard extend to home made custard?

Because I can maybe see where you are coming from with shop bought custard.... But home made custard with cream, egg yolk and real vanilla pods... that is SO good...

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 17:18

Oh dear should not of started a thread about ds
Just being accused drip feeding

Should stick to custard
And a silly thread

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 17:19

Austria has no custard?

Do they have rice pudding?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 17:21
  • @Myimaginarycathasfleas does your dislike of custard extend to home made custard?*

I think it's too eggy for me. I'm the same about ice cream.

Not that fussed about chocolate either...

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 17:22

I never start threads unless just wanting very basic advice. If people start being accusatory or unpleasant then I hide it immediately. Who can be bothered? 🤷‍♀️

Where is your thread Cindershasoddshoes?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 17:25

Oh dear should not of started a thread about ds Just being accused drip feeding

Do not worry, cinders drip feeding is positively welcomed here.

Ness1234 · 28/01/2020 17:32

Pink custard......yum!!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 17:33

I saw your thread cinders don't worry I think they just meant to be nasty, I think they want all the information at once, people can be a bit goady and impatient can't they? But it does seem like they're trying to offer advice. I'm so sorry you're going through thisFlowers

yolofish · 28/01/2020 17:41

fleas has it, custard is absolutely disgusting! Yay fleas!

DH is a custard lover, as are many of our friends. I worked on the launch of Anchor aerosol custard (like the squirty cream) which I actually LIKED. Gave it to a group of (strange) custard lovers and they all said it was disgusting. Think I liked it because it didnt taste like custard...
