A thread intended for menus, cats and idle chit-chat.

divvy that is why we are all coming to your house.

MN chickens always feed an unlimited number of people for an unspecified period of time.

I’m ok with thread 15. I mainly lurk and try to ignore the worst. Some good discussion occasionally.

I might start watching the nice thread as well. A couple of days ago (? I think, about the time Vienna posted on it) I came across it.... It was speculating about M&H’s sex life, compared PA (or maybe piers Morgan) to excrement and claiming that everyone on thread 14 were nasty racists. It put me off my lunch. If I catch up about it 11am every day, I might be able to once again fit into my jeans whilst continue to enjoy delicious dinners Smile

GracefulHippo · 28/01/2020 13:18

Divvy, I want your dinner. I am making marinated chicken thighs with roasted potatoes and vegetables, but yours sounds much nicer....!

CleansUpDragonPoo · 28/01/2020 13:30

*If anyone's missed the thread for anyone who wants to talk about cats and menus it's

HERE*

Oh thank you Mustress! I was losing the will to live on H&M14, it was handbags at dawn with spikes on their sides like Boudicca's wheels - so great to get back to eggs, cats and gin again.

I'm OK now, hope everyone else is!

Yehdivvy · 28/01/2020 13:31

I rubbed garam masala, coriander, cumin powder, salt pepper, stock cube into the chicken. Then added veg, a bit of water in the slow cooker & put it on low for a few hours. I'll rub garlic butter & transfer it to the oven around 6pm to brown off with extra potatoes.

GracefulHippo · 28/01/2020 13:41

Yum... divvy, those details do not make me want your dinner less...

Mustress , I was thinking about you the other day. I came across Pink Gin Cream at M&S.... I am not sure what it was supposed to be used for, but maybe it is an idea to get through the last of the bottle... with Berry Crumble maybe?

7Worfs · 28/01/2020 14:14

I don’t know why but not seeing H&M in the news for a 2nd day in a row feels really nice.
The less I remember they exist, the better I like them.

Now, about that dinner at divvy and dessert at goldie...

Slow cooker chicken is the best, and I like your additions, Divvy.

I bought one of those Instant Pots in an Amazon flash sale last year. No idea what to do with the thing. Any non meat suggestions gratefully received.Grin

I must say your homes all sound lovely and cosy. This thread feels like a nice place to be. I can definitely feel the warmth from an Aga or similar...

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 14:43

So this is where you are all hiding! I was wondering if you were all ok, but then it seems it was pointless because you're all clearly thriving!Grin

I do envy all those of you with these lovely pets! I'd really love a couple of cats grew up with cat's in the house, we never not had one. But now I'm allergic to nearly all things with fur, however I'm lucky in that we live in a fairly green part of london and have a lot of wildlife in the garden, squirrels, robins, tits, the odd parakeet or woodpecker and tons of Foxes so it makes up for it a little.

I too am up for dinner at @Yehdivvy and afters at @goldierocks! I took diced turkey out of the freezer last night but am not enthusiastic. But I do have a hot banana and coconut cake just baked!Smile

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 14:46

My kitchens freezing now the oven's of @TheMustressMhor. Radiators are so ineffective. Nothing beats a real fire...I'd LOVE a real wood burner, but I have 1960's council flat with no chimney.

CleansUpDragonPoo · 28/01/2020 14:47

Ooooo hot banana and coconut cake - served as is, or with custard? Either way, would go down well with a glass of Amarula.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 28/01/2020 14:49

Please send cake my way... I've been helping dh clear the loft , 20 years of rubbish! The things I've found! Very nostalgic and still 3 quarters left to do ☹️

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 14:50

Either way, would go down well with a glass of Amarula

And a sweet cream sherry to keep it company.

So you have resurfaced, CatherineOfAragon. I was wondering where you were.

Shame too early for a tipple! Could do with one 😃

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 14:54

Musthress

He is simply staying out
Actually using a crisis center and avoiding work
I do not know what to do
He has had mh problems and
Has always been a bit different

Sorry to offload

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 14:55

Am making soup and dumplings in my slow cooker
But no one will be in

Silly me

ilovejeffgoldblum · 28/01/2020 14:57

Cinder I'm sorry , I'll join you in spirit , I love dumplings Thanks

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 14:58

Hi cinders that sounds very difficult for you.

I do think that you would be better off starting a thread about this. That way, everyone on MN will have a chance to read about your DS and offer advice and support.

On this thread, no matter how supportive we are, there will only be a limited number of people seeing what you write.

OP posts:
ilovejeffgoldblum · 28/01/2020 15:01

TheMustressMhor that's what I like about mn and these threads it's like having friends you can drop in and out on , when you need.

I bought one of those Instant Pots in an Amazon flash sale last year. No idea what to do with the thing. Any non meat suggestions gratefully received.grin

Sticking around for answers to this as I too have a recently acquired Instant Pot.
So far I've cooked beef (sorry Michf) chilli to test its slow cooker function (tick VG) and am planning on beef (sorry Michf*) stew and dumplings tonight.

Re cheese: don't forget that it's Vacherin season.
Had a brilliant bargain at the local deli as the usual lady is on holiday and the locum does not know cheese.

She put the Vacherin on at half price because it's getting runny and strongly smelling_!

"Yes", I said, "and...?".

She wouldn't have it so I came away with my precious .

Note: this is not cheese for people who like eg Jaarlsburg.

Jaarlsburg is cheese for people who don't like cheese.

*Other meats and sources of protein are available.

**Is it wrong that I now see your name as "Mischief"?

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 28/01/2020 15:06

Ooooo hot banana and coconut cake - served as is, or with custard?

Bloody genius @CleansUpDragonPoo. Never before thought about having custard alongside the cake. Never. Vanilla ice cream occasionally.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 28/01/2020 15:08

@CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate ha ha , tempting but it's taken dh 2 years to persuade me to help with loft! , might do it for custard though Wink

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 15:10

I love custard
I have a wood burner but it also keeps the central heating going so is rather hard work
And as it is a range type one you can cook on it

You just get even hotter

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 15:13

I love your cheese story LaMarschallin!

I have one too. Years ago when I worked for a small estate agent we had a client who regularly popped over to France for the weekend. One day I jokingly said "Don't forget to bring us back some cheese!" and bless her heart, she did. Bags of it. So smelly that we had to open the back door of the office and hang it on the handle till the end of the day, when it was divvied up between us and taken home. The smell lingered for days but the cheese was sublime.
