A thread intended for menus, cats and idle chit-chat.

I too have noticed something- my cat's most active time is now even earlier due to the brighter mornings. Lovely.

Thankfully I'm working from home today and can slob around in my pj's for a bit longer.

Hope everyone and their pets are ok today, live long and thriveSmile

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 08:56

Are you on the bus or waiting for it, BabyShark?

OP posts:
OVienna · 28/01/2020 09:04

Re okay or not: will check in with you later....

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 09:11

Hmmm.

Sounds v. mysterious.

Well I’m ok-ish so far.
I think the highlight of my day will be going to the bakery.

Dinner will be something with chickpeas.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 10:03

I feel a lasagne coming on. Any good vegetarian suggestions? HF-W has some tempting ones in his Veg book.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 10:08

I've always wondered how Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was related to the barrister of the 1930s.

7Worfs

The highlight of anyone's day ought to be going to the bakery.

It should be enshrined in statute.

7Worfs · 28/01/2020 10:33

Am I allowed to eat hot cross buns outside of Easter? What the etiquette?

goldierocks · 28/01/2020 10:37

I like making cakes; even more so after having my kitchen re-done.

These are my Easter cupcakes from last year.

I'm currently working making Easter characters from felt to make some kind of decoration. Not got very far yet.

I've got a very technical job, it's nice to have a creative escape sometimes.

@7Worfs

It is correct to eat any kind of cake whenever you want to. This includes hot cross buns.

I myself eat Welsh cakes when not in Wales, for example - although there isn't (as far as I know) a specific time of year when Welsh cakes are generally consumed.

@goldierocks

Do you ever donate your Home Baking to bazaars and Coffee Mornings? Asking for a friend.

OP posts:
goldierocks · 28/01/2020 11:27

Hi Mustress - that's why I make them, either for charity fundraisers or if asked by family. I made my best friends wedding cake as my gift to him & his lovely wife.

There is one particular meeting at work once a month which always runs over lunchtime - I bring a batch of cupcakes to keep folks alertSmile

I was very, very lucky to get my Granny's numerous cake and gravy recipes before she died.

Hhhmmmm.....I think I'm going to have to halt production of felt friends and head to the kitchen.... my DS will be pleased when he comes home!

Cindershasoddshoes · 28/01/2020 11:43

They are amazing cupcakes
I have too been to the bakery but also the dentist and a cafe
Am now trying not to worry about ds as he keeps running away
I should start a thread about him
I guess no one has a teenager on this thread

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 11:57

Granny's numerous gravy recipes

I need to know more about the numerous gravy recipes.

Cinders I have four ex-teenagers. What is yours doing? You sound worried.

OP posts:
Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 11:58

I have had three teenagers, cinders, all safely grown now but one which very nearly finished me off. He's still challenging in adulthood but we have a much better relationship now and there have been times when he really has come up trumps, bless him. It will get better if you can just get through this phase!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/01/2020 12:36

So glad Thread 14 ended on a positive note. Serial threads are great when they create a community as these did for a long time.

If something happens, as Mustress rightly says, someone will start a thread about it and people who want to can reconvene.

Yehdivvy · 28/01/2020 12:45

Hello I'm working from home today so I've put a chicken in the slow cooker on really low. I'll slather it with garlic butter and shove it in the oven for an hour to crisp up the skin. I'm also making a rhubarb crumble & a dozen fairy cakes for the tin
to bribe my boss with tomorrow when she notices I've not been so productive

The cat is asleep in her bed by the sunlight and all is well in the divvy household.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 12:53

Noooooooooooooooooo

Someone has started Thread 15.

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 12:55

Greetings divvy.

We need to see proof of the cat.

We will also all be round t dinner time to help the divvy household eat the chicken.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 12:56

There's also a "Camilla and Charles Lovechild" thread going ATM.

DH is defrosting some of the virtual lake of soup he made before Christmas.

How can I tell him I don't really like it?

OP posts:
yolofish · 28/01/2020 13:04

Got up this morning to 2 piles of cat sick on the hall floor - barely survived that, it's less bad than dog sick though.

However have now had lunch and its sunny and going to take the dog out = thriving!

Yehdivvy · 28/01/2020 13:06

Hello @TheMustressMhor thank you for welcoming me. Here is the Divvy cat & the magical mn chicken dinner that feeds the 5000 is served at 6:30pm.
