Presumably, it's called an "intelligence test" as a catch all for meaning it's assessing a variety of different types of skills and thought processes, rather than simply IQ?

I don't think it's biased against people with eg autism, then, who might score lower on those things related to "what emotion is this face showing" (though equally might not) - because it's assessing a wide variety of skills and abilities in different areas. Or maybe not - off to have a go at it now! I predict that I'll do terribly on the spatial awareness type things PP have mentioned Grin

Can't help wondering why they decided on the morning of New Year's Day to release the quiz when at least half the people doing the test today will have a hangover...

IfThingsComeInThreesWhyThisNow · 01/01/2020 13:29

My lack of spatial intelligence does not surprise me. Verbal reasoning however Sad although verbal comprehension high. The mental rotation is a crock - I just found a loophole rather than doing it properly.

Really quite shocked at how badly I did on the faces.

I think it was a really interesting test.

When I was looking at the faces I looked for key points so eyebrows raised, mouth open, eyes wide to match the faces. I wasn’t for example thinking that person looks happy and that one cross - that would have been harder as the the people seemed to be posing an emotion rather than showing natural emotions.

During the rotation test I also wasn’t looking at the whole picture I just pinpointed on a single area and matches that or could see without thinking.

lemonjumper · 01/01/2020 13:33

It wasn't released today, as I did it a few days ago.

I misunderstood the instructions for the Tower of London part and it took me a while to realise what I was doing wrong Blush Blush Blush

@SpartacusAutisticus

Ours look fairly similar, might I be autistic too? I've often wondered.....

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/01/2020 13:36

Crashed on the verbal reasoning section which is annoying.

I have some issues with the methodology of the faces part. Emotions aren't neat categories, are they? I said some were different when they were showing gradations of the same thing, that's clearly not what they wanted. I expect I'd have done better if I hadn't had a three-year-old bellowing in my ear about needing a poo halfway through the numbers round too...

I thought the emotional one was weird, I'd say I am pretty emotionally intelligent but I did badly on this bit because I was overthinking it. Once I just looked at what faces I thought they'd been asked to pull it was better. It's like someone else said, it's not the emotions it's what poses they've been asked to pull. I think emotions are more complicated than this in reality

TheGinGenie · 01/01/2020 13:44

Agree @WeshMaGueule

sparkle90 · 01/01/2020 13:47

Pleasantly surprised... definitely could have been worse!

I just tried it but don’t even understand the instructions! Despite my first class degree and postgraduate qualifications...

TwentyViginti · 01/01/2020 13:52

I just tried it but don’t even understand the instructions!

I didn't understand some of the tasks - mostly bottom 50% but top 30 for verbal comprehension or summat Grin

Elieza · 01/01/2020 13:56

Well after half an hour it says it’s got my results and the pace is totally blank. You gotta be fucking kidding me.

I don’t think it’s designed for completion in a phone either. Had to keep turning the screen to get a better view depending how small the stupid writing was. Perhaps that’s part of the test! Saved my progress so perhaps they will email me my chart. Dammed if im doing it again if it’s not worked though!

KnowBetterDoBetter · 01/01/2020 13:59

Fun! Thought I'd do much worse than I did, as I have aphantasia (no minds eye), ADHD, and a 4yo interrupting my vibe! Grin not great mobile capability either. If I tried to scroll up or down it would say I'd given an incorrect answer.

Not sure how I managed to get such a good score for the spatial working memory with aphantasia, tbh.

DropZoneOne · 01/01/2020 14:01

My memory is shocking! Up to 4 numbers / patterns were fine but over that and it had gone. It crashed on me during the verbal memory though, and doesn't look like it's recorded a score at all (i wasn't that bad!).

I didn't understand the target detection, was waiting for the target to change so lost a few seconds at the start on that one.

I did it on my phone, wonder if it would be easier on a larger screen?

And with the picture ...

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 01/01/2020 14:03

I'm in top 20% for some of them and bottom 50% for others. Strange.

Ilovesausages · 01/01/2020 14:05

I got all the way through and it crashed arrrggggg!

Will have a go on my laptop later.

I quite enjoyed it! #geek

FrederickSinclair · 01/01/2020 14:06

Well this has given me a much needed boost! I estimated I would be below average in intelligence but I didn't do too badly.

Great British Intelligence test
Carolemia · 01/01/2020 14:07

Scored between top 20% and top 30% apart from the one where you have to click on the blocks in order - was in bottom 50% for that one. Quite pleased with the results!

Ilovesausages · 01/01/2020 14:07

Sparkle90 yours is so beautifully uniform!
