Run/jog/walk a mile a day in 2020. Join the bandwagon early

I have completed couch to 5k in the past
I have given up on running in the past
I have tried and failed in the past

But I have a plan for 2020

I am going to run/jog a mile a day for the year.

I know some days I will be knackered and fail but if I do I will do more the next day to make up for it.

Anyone like to join me ?

Walked/hobbled 4 miles with my pulled calf muscle. I probably should be resting it...

donttellmetwice · 16/01/2020 21:08

Still going strong! I have surprised myself with how long I've kept it up! Might not be long to some people but I never stick at anything.

KnightandDay · 17/01/2020 08:23

Only did 1.5km walk at lunch time yesterday, Thursdays are hectic.
Will try get a good walk in tonight.

Ah ha! Found a 1 mile route round the roads near school with decent paths so cheap car buggy isn't shaking toddler too much!
Finally stopped pouring in time to do it today.

Egghead68 · 17/01/2020 20:32

Walked 1.9 miles. No running for me till my muscle’s healed (maybe tomorrow).

Egghead68 · 17/01/2020 20:33

Oh that should be 2.9 miles.

Egghead68 · 17/01/2020 20:34

P.s. I am definitely fitter from these mini-runs. Am overtaking everyone when running for the train!

Egghead68 · 18/01/2020 10:23

Did a hilly, cold and very slippery park run so 5km mostly jogged and another mile walked to get there and back.

WeirdPookah · 18/01/2020 10:34

2.5 mile walk today.
I know I won't be able to get out tomorrow. Inlaws visiting and it takes up most of the day.

Egghead68 · 18/01/2020 14:32

@Newyearnewarse how are you doing with your daily miles?

ExpletiveDelighted · 18/01/2020 15:21

2.5 mile jog for me today, 17.4miles YTD.

autumnhare · 18/01/2020 15:46

Managed to get in a 1.7 mile jog this morning. Will go for another jog and a long walk tomorrow to try and catch up with the few miles I've missed this week. Determined to get back to a daily mile next week.

Well done everyone else!

KnightandDay · 18/01/2020 22:19

Did a 2.5km walk today, not very long but happy to get it done.

Egghead68 · 19/01/2020 16:34

Walked 2.5 miles today.

autumnhare · 19/01/2020 18:33

Jogged/walked a total of 4 miles today so fully caught up on my miles - very achey now though! Going to try and keep to one mile a day this week instead of lots in one go🚶‍♀️ this week isn't so crazy for me so should be doable!

Egghead68 · 19/01/2020 22:10

My quads ache too after jogging up the hills yesterday. I’m trying to view it as a sign I am building muscle.

WeirdPookah · 20/01/2020 15:52

1 mile walked instead of sitting in the car again. Feels productive.

Egghead68 · 20/01/2020 16:32

Good on you. Going to try a treadmill 5km run without stopping tonight.

Egghead68 · 20/01/2020 20:04

I think it’s going to have to be tomorrow because I’m only just in from work and am exhausted.
Walked 1.9 miles.

What2Offer · 20/01/2020 21:36

Didn't get out yesterday, so happy to get out today. Did a slow but steady 3.5km walk.

Egghead68 · 21/01/2020 20:23

Walked 1.9km and did an exercise class but still haven’t run the 5km I planned for yesterday. That is a lesson to me to stick to small goals - I’m going back to planning to run a mile not 5km.

autumnhare · 21/01/2020 21:34

Walked to and from an appointment today which totalled 1 mile. Planning on jogging tomorrow if it's not too slippy/frosty first thing.

WeirdPookah · 21/01/2020 21:42

Well I was going to walk when waiting for school pick up, but a crazy sea mist rolled in and it was really nastily damp. I can't justify dragging a 1 year old out in that. Hoping it will be clear tomorrow.

autumnhare · 22/01/2020 10:04

@WeirdPookah I don't blame you! I've missed lots lately due to the weather 👎🏼 it's frustrating.

1.4 mile jog this morning. Much less frosty here today so could actually get out.

WeirdPookah · 22/01/2020 12:56

@autumnhare it was still misty today, but we went out, poor baby ended up with her fine hair all soggy, but we saw lots of wet dogs, so she was happy!

3 miles walked today.
