Run/jog/walk a mile a day in 2020. Join the bandwagon early

I have completed couch to 5k in the past
I have given up on running in the past
I have tried and failed in the past

But I have a plan for 2020

I am going to run/jog a mile a day for the year.

I know some days I will be knackered and fail but if I do I will do more the next day to make up for it.

Anyone like to join me ?

Walked nearly 2 miles this afternoon. Don't normally like going out in afternoon would rather go in the morning but we did it!

KnightandDay · 12/01/2020 18:24

I've had a very busy few days too. Only managed 1km on Thursday, nothing on Friday or Saturday, but did do 2.86km today. Need to get back into the swing of just getting out!

WeirdPookah · 13/01/2020 10:37

2.4 miles done this morning. The wind was bitter cold. Neither mine nor my toddlers hands are warm yet.

Went for a 2 mile jog yesterday. Not been out yet today, it's absolutely pouring down here and I'm trying to get up the motivation to get out with the DC.

Newyearnewarse · 13/01/2020 16:36

3 miles done today . I nearly didnt go as I was tired after work but i am so pleased i did.
I never regret getting out there!

Managed 3.36km today after Storm Brendan passed 🌧🌪

Egghead68 · 13/01/2020 22:32

Walked 3.5 miles.

girlofthenorth · 13/01/2020 23:32

Have been walking dog 1-3 miles each day depending on weather , 2-3 miles is my norm , but I'm still feeling really tired after chest infection . Feel like I should be pushing myself but not sure how much to push myself after being ill.
Any ideas? I guess as long as I don't feel worse .

ipreferaflan · 14/01/2020 10:30

1.4 miles done with couch to 5k. Didn't end up going yesterday due to stormy weather and kicking myself but onwards and upwards!

WeirdPookah · 14/01/2020 12:41

The weather is vile here, icy cold winds and rain. I feel disappointed I have been out every day so far this year, and looks like I won't today.

KnightandDay · 14/01/2020 13:47

WeirdPookah don't let it get you down, Just pick up again when you can!

I did 2km at lunch time today, and hope to get out again this evening depending on weather.

ExpletiveDelighted · 14/01/2020 14:08

I've not been out since Sunday, yesterday I was at work all day and it was chucking it down/stormy morning and evening, today is the same. I've decided I'm not going to beat myself up about it but catch up whenever the weather is good enough.

WeirdPookah · 14/01/2020 16:01

Thanks @KnightandDay the weather is supposed to break overnight and be sunny tomorrow so might walk into town and catch up the miles.

Egghead68 · 14/01/2020 17:52

Apparently I’ve walked 2.2 miles today but I can’t remember doing it - must have been in corridors at work.

circleorsquare · 14/01/2020 21:59

I've not managed today. Weather so windy and not feeling too great. Will do double tomorrow

WeirdPookah · 15/01/2020 12:42

Sun is shining... winds of something like 30mph though made pushing the buggy into town along the prom REALLY hard work. But I managed, got few bits I needed and convinced myself to walk home saying at least the wind was pushing me!

So over 4 miles walked today! Made up for yesterday.

Egghead68 · 15/01/2020 13:18

Just did a 3 mile walk and plan a couple of miles running on the treadmill tonight.

KnightandDay · 15/01/2020 19:48

Well done WeirdPookah that's great!

I didn't get out yesterday evening but did manage 3km this evening while waiting for eldest to finish training 🚶‍♀️😊

Egghead68 · 15/01/2020 20:10

Pulled a calf muscle on the way to the gym so it was very painful but managed 2km run at 9.3kph (some on a 0.5 incline) and 2km walk at 6.2kph on a 2-4 incline.

Did I win?

Myles

Oh there is Myles Newton John what a great name.
Myles Ellis Bextor wins sportman of the year 2041.
And here is the news from Myles Fearnley-Whittingstall
Judge Myles Jessica Parker threw the case out of court.

It is the best name ever. It goes with every surname too doesnt it.

3luckystars · 15/01/2020 20:31

Sorry wrong thread. I meant to post on baby names.
But well done for all of your Myles too Wink

Finding it really hard to keep up at the moment. Haven't been out the last few days partly due to weather and partly down to life being a bit hectic!

(I'm a regular on the thread but have had a name change)

WeirdPookah · 16/01/2020 16:17

I managed a mile walk again instead of sitting in the car at school pick up. Less angry toddler and getting exercise. It's a win.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/01/2020 16:27

I'm just about hanging on in. The weather is foul again this afternoon but I managed a 1.5 mile jog this morning while it was dry. I'm on 14.9 miles for the year so far. Hopefully we will all catch up when the weather improves.
