1 day after flu jab I had aching joints/feeling shivery, swollen glands but not a sore throat.

OP posts:
ScribblyGum · 21/12/2019 06:40

Mildly sore arm for a day.

gamerwidow · 21/12/2019 07:16

The nasal spray is live, does that have more side effects ?
Not if my 9 yo is any measure, no side effects at all.

GoGoLego · 21/12/2019 09:55

Just the usual sore slightly swollen arm the day after.

No effects and I also had a shingles jab at the same time.

OddBoots · 21/12/2019 09:59

I had it as did dh, both our (adult) children, both my parents and my brother. We all had nothing but a slightly sore arm for a couple of days.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 21/12/2019 10:03

Mild flu symptoms for 48hours after. Enough to reduce stuff down to only what i have to do. I'd like to think its not the flu jab, but i get the same thing every bloody year.

Still had bug after bug. Including one that floored me for 4 days that seems suspiciously like a mild flu

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 21/12/2019 10:04

I felt a bit achey the next day but I was getting over a cold at the time I had the flu jab (I checked and was told it would be fine to have the jab).

BettysLeftTentacle · 21/12/2019 10:09

I had quite a nasty localised reaction this year. Come October next year, I will be keeping everything crossed that they’ll be happy enough to give it to me again because if there’s one thing I know for sure, I can’t rely on the majority of the population to have theirs to help me out with herd immunity.

Sounds like you have a cold OP. Hope you feel better soon.

ProfYaffle · 21/12/2019 10:15

I had it through work. Had a few episodes of 'mini flu' - shivery and sneezy for about 10 mins then it stopped!

TheFormidableMrsC · 21/12/2019 10:17

Both me and my 8 year old DS have it. No side effects at all.

CoatTails · 21/12/2019 10:20

No side effects at all.

FuckOffBoris · 21/12/2019 10:25

Have it every year. Never had any effects, not even a sore arm. And touch wood, I have never had flu. This year I was really confused when I got undressed at the end of the day to see the little round plaster, because I had genuinely completely forgotten I had had it that morning!

Katisha · 21/12/2019 10:27

Had it for the first time in 20 years a couple of weeks ago. Just sore arm although that has lasted 2 weeks, intermittently

icannotremember · 21/12/2019 10:31

Me
A bit of an achy arm for a few days. Nothing else.

MakeLemonade · 21/12/2019 11:02

Another one with no side effects here, had it about a month ago. DH and DDs all side effect free too.

feelingsinister · 21/12/2019 11:05

I had an achy arm but that was it. I've had worse side effects in previous years but am always glad I've had it,

feelingsinister · 21/12/2019 11:06

If you're showing symptoms then it's far more likely that you'd already picked up an infection than it being anything to do with your flu jab.

Bunbunbunny · 21/12/2019 11:06

Nothing this year

Portulaca · 21/12/2019 11:09

Yes. No after effects at all this year. Not even a sore arm, which I normally get with slight headache & snuffle.

MitziK · 21/12/2019 11:30

I've had it.

Side effects: I didn't catch the flu. Considering I was dealing with an awful lot of people who did - every day at work - I think that's the most important side effect to take into account.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/12/2019 11:37

There is a difference between flu and a bad cold.

If you have flu you can’t get out of bed. I have had a particularly nasty type of flu years ago (it was the strain that killed many people) and I actually thought I too was going to die. It took me a good 3 weeks to actually be strong enough to leave the house unaided

However seems too much of a coincidence that the only other times I have felt anywhere near this ill was a few days after I had the flu jabs a couple of years apart.

Having not actually mixed with anyone who had even a sniffle

Seethesleepybunnies · 21/12/2019 11:42

I had it about 5 weeks ago.

Zero side effects. I’m pregnant so that’s why I chose to have it.

SageRosemary · 21/12/2019 11:44

Sore arm as in previous years, otherwise all okay.

TheClausSeason · 21/12/2019 11:45

Sore arm

Caramel78 · 21/12/2019 11:45

I haven’t had it but my mum has and she was really ill with (ironically) a flu like illness for about 10 days after it. Shivering, fever, constant cough, no appetite, exhaustion, bed ridden etc. Not sure if it was the flu jab or just a coincidence that she fell ill at the same time
