...what their favourite Christmas present was, that they received as a child?
I asked mine this evening after reading a couple of threads from people who are struggling with Christmas.
Dd1 27 said her most favourite presents was mousetrap.
Dd2 22 said her favourite gift was a nail dryer shaped like a dog.
Neither of these were expensive and they actually can't remember most of their "main gifts".
So I was just wondering what was your child's favourite gift?

Mine were a wooden sledge and some red liquorice the packet of which my parents had put snow on, added to the magic.

My xylophone and my girls world head where you could pull her hair through to make it longer and wind it in to make it shorter

My Sindy house, mainly because I remember building it with my dad Smile

My eldest will be 21 at Christmas, and he has said his absolute favourite present was his Woody from Toy Story outfit, his brother had Buzz, I was a single Mum to them at the time, working full time with not much money but Christmas day we would go to the park and they would act out the film dressed in their outfits, with me being Emperor Zurg and chasing them! We would get muddy, someone would always fall over, but my lad said after that the excitement of Christmas became even bigger, and now he can't wait to do the same with his own kids. :-)
Made me cry tbh. I always worried I was never doing enough for them. xx

DD's favourite present to eclipse all others was this one - Cordelia, now 15.

My child is still a toddler so can't ask her, but I cannot remember any Christmas gifts I recieved. I remember having a Gameboy, but I don't know if I got it for my birthday or Christmas or if I saved up to buy it second hand.

awesomeness · 27/11/2019 18:18

I can't remember any apart from the Sega mega drive I got one year, that I had to share with my sister (yes I am still bitter about that)

Celestine70 · 27/11/2019 18:24

I can't even remember mine. I think kids remember being with family and experience more.

ysmaem · 27/11/2019 18:27

My favourite gift was a talk back dear diary it was amazeballs.

Tunnocks34 · 27/11/2019 18:30

Mine was a cabbage patch doll and a velvet smock which was identical the one my mum had. We both wore them Christmas Day. That was when I was 9. The following Christmas I got a fountain pen and a calligraphy book off my grandad and I used it everyday until the pen broke - at least 2 years later!

A Sindy horse, I have always loved horses and couldn’t afford one of my own until adulthood when I am mature enough to realise it’s too expensive and hard work, I may as well pay to ride when it suits me. The Sindy horse was the most amazing thing ever with its plastic saddle and bridle that could you take off.

PompeyBez · 27/11/2019 18:46

Mine was the Donkey Kong game and Watch. Played it for years!! Also, fashion wheel and spirograph!! I asked for Mr Frosty every year and never got itGrin we also got the blockbuster board game one year, which we all loved. My mum still has that

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 27/11/2019 18:46

The Sindy house with lift [xgrin]

Dad stayed up nearly all night putting it together (he wasn't impressed).
It was well used for years.

My children got Guitar Hero when they were early teens. It was such a big hit but very loud in a small house.

dottiedodah · 27/11/2019 18:51

DS favourite gift was a Scalextric from Santa .DH spent all morning assembling it .And I had to go looking for a Chemist that was open . DS had come down with a bug and fell asleep in his Christmas lunch . DD loved the dolly with the light up hairband ,cant remember her name (dolly that is not DD)!

SpeckledyHen · 27/11/2019 18:54

Great thread . Look forward to asking my 2 ‘boys’ 22 &24 .

My favourite present was from a neighbour after Christmas. I had been given a second hand sewing machine by my parents and she gave me a HUGE bag of fabric off - cuts . She was a dress maker by trade and I was overjoyed 😁.

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 27/11/2019 18:55

A scooter and Playmobile

Sweetchicken · 27/11/2019 19:00

I got a sewing machine when I was 12, a girl at school laughed at me, showing off she'd got the latest gameboy (or similar).

I'm 38, and still use that sewing machine. Bet my right arm she doesn't still use that game boy 😂😂

catwithflowers · 27/11/2019 19:05

Just asked my eldest son, now aged 24, and he said his favourite Christmas gift was Roboraptor, a mechanical dinosaur. I’m pleased as it cost a small fortune at the time 🤣

Whatamesshaslunch · 27/11/2019 19:06

I also asked for Mr Frosty and Diver Dan every year but never got them. One day I found both at a jumble sale and I think mr frosty may have been the biggest disappointment of my life!

Knittingnanny · 27/11/2019 19:11

I’ve just WhatsApped all mine, but due to time differences replies will come in staggered!
I’m a child of the 50’s/60’s and always really wanted a tiny tears and a Sindy but my mother thought both were common so I never got either. Had a different doll with hair that pulled out longer called Tressy and a lovely black doll that I loved for years. Not sure why Tressy was not common and Sindy was though! Strangely I received a Sindy wardrobe one year though. My mother’s criteria for “ common “ was always unfathomable!
I also remember a dolls pram but that might have been a birthday present.
I think my favourite present was a pair of roller skates.

Jue01 · 27/11/2019 19:16

Mine was my Girl's World - I was so happy
