...what their favourite Christmas present was, that they received as a child?
I asked mine this evening after reading a couple of threads from people who are struggling with Christmas.
Dd1 27 said her most favourite presents was mousetrap.
Dd2 22 said her favourite gift was a nail dryer shaped like a dog.
Neither of these were expensive and they actually can't remember most of their "main gifts".
So I was just wondering what was your child's favourite gift?

Here is the big present my friend would have nominated, and she told me back at school how it was presented to her, and I really envied her for this: after opening her smaller presents, her parents told her to put on her coat. She was then blindfolded and taken on a short car journey (back to her house), and when her eyes were uncovered, she found that she was inside a playhouse, with the door closed. When she opened the door and the shutters over the windows, she then found that she was in her own garden, and the playhouse was for her!

I had a walky talky doll too. My mother apparently had to send away for it as we lived in ireland. It had short blonde hair and you put little records in its back and she sang/talked. Walking was done by holding her shoulders I think, she didn’t actually walk unaided! I think her name was Pamela..
Anyone else have her?

@ArthurMorgan I always wanted a Mr Frosty, never got one not sure why and Sylvanian Families, I never got them either but my DD’s have asked for Sylvanian Families this year, I almost burst with excitement Grin

My parents were really bad at gifts, but they did get us Home Alone on VHS. I remember it more because they told the story of how they got the last one in the shop (the box was broken) and the carnage there was in fighting for it. It made me happy because my dad worked away it was a rare story of my parents doing something together and they seemed happy telling the story, and it felt like they'd really made an effort to get something my sister and I really wanted... AND we all watched it together after presents were opened. So it was what it meant rather than the thing itself (although I do still love Home Alone, although now I enjoy watching it more to point out the many child safeguarding concerns and thinking about how the 90's were a very different time...)

@NoSkinOffMyNose - that is a blast from the past! I wish there was an English word for that sensation of something rushing back into your conscious memory!

Mine were a set of Colin Dann books which I loved and read over and over again, and when I was slightly older a pair of platform trainers Blush

This is a gr at thread!

I never got a Mr Frosty even though I asked every year.

But this Annie doll with a removable Sandy is one that stands out in my mind. As well as a brown baby doll (I'm in Ireland and they weren't common there) I called it Candy.

Then I discovered my cousin had one the same with the same clothes and all and a little bit of the shine wore off her, but I am mid 40s now and still remember her and the Annie doll.

I got a yellow and orange Keyper, my sister got a fluffy one with a diamond on her side.
