Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

Also had the OH arriving home senario...Heard the gate creek open and bang shut, the dog barked as usual, then I heard OH putting his bike away in the shed, we call it a shed but it's basically a huge outdoor cupboard, the noise it makes is so loud as it echos under the stairs, the noise is really unmistakable for anything else, dog still barking at this point, went outside to let the dog out, he usually stops barking once he sees who it is but OH isn't there, called out his name, nothing. He gets home 5mins later on his bike, so definitely wasn't him making the noise...I would have thought it was just me imagining things if the dog hadn't of been barking Confused

@CantRememberHoliday that's awful, I'm sorry that happened to you!

As a child i had a recurring dream about a green velvet coin purse i was given. I dreamt that I had 2 and that one was always going missing and would turn up under the sofa. When it came time to move we ripped up the carpet from the living room that predated my birth and found a floorboard that lifted up. Inside the gap was 2 marbles, a stone with a hole in it and a green velvet purse, just like the one i had as a child.

I met OH whilst walking a friend's dog in a field by her house, 50 odd miles from my childhood home. We got chatting and ended up walking to a pub together. Tied dogs up outside and as i bent to put water bowl out for dogs, saw a stone on the floor with a hole in it, identical to the one from the floorboard. Picked it up and was about to put it in my pocket when OH said he once found a stone just like it in a floorboard in his childhood house. He moved the same year we did and had always dreamt about a stone being under the house.
Been together 7 years now and we've got a vase full of stones with holes in.

Forgot to add on first planned date with OH we stopped in a little vintage shop and found a green velvet coin purse he was immediately drawn to. Bought it for me without saying and gave me it when we got to date location. Only when we got there did we find a marble in it

This didnt happen to me but to my DM and her friend who were travelling home from London by train about 15 years ago. There was a woman sitting behind them who answered her mobile phone and loudly exclaimed that John Major had died. As in John Major the former PM! Both DM and her friend heard it.

DM came home and told us that John Major had died and had we heard, so we put on the news and there was no mention of it. I also looked on line and there was no mention there either. Of course as we all know, JM is very much still alive!

The most obvious explanation is that it was another John Major, but its hardly a common name is it.

I agree some stuff just sounds so far fetched on this thread.
But I know I'm no billy bull shitter with what happened to me.

I hope your hearts fall out of your arses when some freaky shit happens to you Grinthen you'll know the feeling

TanselleTooTall · 28/08/2019 18:05

I'm sorry if it's mentioned already but I subscribe to a few YouTube channels and they take (serious answers only) stories/comments from Reddit threads and upload them into one convenient video. There's loads of creepy Glitch in the Matrix videos - makes for really entertaining reading.

Quartz2208 · 28/08/2019 18:07

Just now weirdly - yesterday I was tidying up with a quiz show on in the background and heard a question and I remember thinking I wonder what the answer is and then and finished my chores.

Today I actually watched it and the exact same question was on it. I checked it has not been repeated (at least not since I heard it yesterday).

The irony is I was freaked out so did not notice the answer so I still dont know!

SciFiScream · 28/08/2019 18:09

@ComtesseDeSpair I've seen that image all over the internet - was it really yours or did you just space it and pretend it's yours?

I got a flat tyre once on a country road in the middle of nowhere with the youngest DC in the car. Got out and popped him to the side of the car while I jacked it up and switched to the spare. I stood back for a second (car still jacked up at this point) and knew without a doubt DS and I needed to move away from it, shoved him in front of me as quickly as I could and couldn't breathe, I was so panicked (and I'm the least likely person to panic in any situation - I'm known for being the calmest in terrible situations). Three or four seconds later a car came flying around a corner overtaking the car in front of it, clearly not realising that mine was parked up on the opposite side of the road til it was too late to stop. It smashed into my car and wrote it off entirely, with my car ending on it's side in the exact spot we'd been stood.

The drivers all got out and we were all fine, albeit shaken, and in my head I knew beyond all doubt that the scene in front of me was going to happen before it did. No explanation, no idea how, but the matrix must have been glitching that day.

littletinybubbles · 28/08/2019 18:25

These oscillate between utterly made up and completely explainable...

John major died is the funniest...there’s nothing remotely interesting about hearing a stranger say something incorrect....

OhioOhioOhio · 28/08/2019 18:38

Comtesse

Omg!

AdelaideK · 28/08/2019 18:42

I don't have anything to add as I'm not a believer in woo stuff but there's a street in Liverpool that is famous for time slips.

There are plenty of stories but alas nothing has ever happened to me there.

Weston14 · 28/08/2019 18:46

I'm a bit on the fence about woo stuff but I do get strange deja vu/"psychic" moments if you want to call it that and I'd love a rational explanation to them.

It comes up a lot with TV, films and music. I'll be thinking of a relatively obscure song (I'm a bit of a music buff, it's always my best round on a pub quiz) and suddenly I'll hear it in a cafe. Or I'll see a repeat of a show on TV and I think "I bet it's the episode where _ happens", and it is. The first time I noticed it was years ago with a TV show which has hundreds of episodes, and I come across the phenomenon (if you want to call it that!) a lot.

I'm also very good at guessing when someone is going to text. This happens with people who text me a lot - I know what you'll say, "you know it's them because you're expecting them", but I have I'd say about 10 people I'm in regular, semi-constant communication with (i.e. a few times a week) and I know just when I feel my phone buzz that it'll be one friend rather than another, or my OH rather than my mum, things like that. Conversely, I also get it with people I've not heard from in ages. I was thinking about an old friend I've not heard from in a long time yesterday morning and got a text from her yesterday afternoon. There must be a rational explanation for this; I think it has something to do with the fact that when you're close enough to someone you learn to pick up on their "texting timetable", if you like, so you know when they get out of work, when they'll be having their lunch and will reply to a few texts, or how long it takes in someone's head to think "I've not spoken to Weston in a while, I must get in touch."

Unfortunately the feeling also manifested once when visiting a relative; something was just digging into the back of my head that this would be the last time I saw them and it turned out to be true Sad. I do think there must be some kind of extra-sensory perceptions in humans where we unconsciously get very good at picking up on other people. I imagine that's the way psychics work.

There was a bottle collector who would go into our work dumpster to find bottles and cans. He had an old bicycle that he would carefully ride with a huge garbage bag full of cans on either side of it. I befriended him and would save my cans for him (I used to drink a lot of Diet Pepsi at the time).

Over the years, I got to know him pretty well - he was a lovely man. He carried on coming over for some years and then, without a word, he stopped. I didn't see him for a year and was really worried about him.

One lunchtime, I was taking a walk when, suddenly, there he was smiling at me and sitting on his bike at the side of the road. I went over and asked him how he was - the whole time it seemed very surreal, you know, where everything goes so quiet you don't even hear the traffic anymore - he didn't talk much, just said he was good. I told him to go to my work and ask my coworker for the bag of cans. He knew her so it wouldn't have been a problem. He said ok and left. He never went arrived. I was disappointed but I thought he had something better to do. A year later I was on my lunchtime walk and the same thing happened. There he was at the side of the road smiling at me from his bike. It was the exact same spot as the year before. I approached him and asked how he was - I got the same answer, that he was okay. I tried to talk more to him but really didn't get any answers so I said I had saved the bag from before and it was waiting for him at my work. He nodded and left on his bike. He didn't arrive at my work and, sadly, I never saw him again.

I told a friend about this and she thought he had died and had come back to say goodbye. Maybe. I wish I was more sensitive to that because I would like to have told him how much I enjoyed our talks and his friendship.

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 19:03

How come most of the photos of glitches in the matrix are on trains or buses?!

nononever · 28/08/2019 19:11

The only weird thing that happened to me was when reading a book I'd never read before. There was a whole section in the middle that I had definitely read in the past, it was very strange.

It didn't happen to me but a work colleague went to view a property she was interested in buying which wasn't that far from where I lived. When the owner opened the door my colleague got such a shock as it was 'me', she was even wearing an outfit that I wore to work on occasion and she had the same name, albeit my maiden name.

Remembered another one. I was in my 20's and on a girl's holiday in Ibiza. When I returned to work my colleagues had kept an article in a newspaper and said I had been photographed on the beach. The article was about a tour company setting up on a beach and the photograph was of 'me' in a black bikini chatting to them, only it wasn't me. Even I had a double take, it was my spitting image but definitely wasn't me. Seems like I have a couple of doppelgängers Grin.

OpheliaTodd · 28/08/2019 19:13

Yeah I’ve seen the picture of the similar looking guys on the train before.

gotmychocolateimgood · 28/08/2019 19:42

I had a terrible day at work a few months ago. Decided to go out with some friends for drinks as it was Friday. I walked into the pub to find the person (customer if you like) who had caused the problems at work that day, queueing in the pub. Not in my work area at all. Later that night I was dancing at another venue when a random stranger gave me a brand new pack of tippex. He said it was to erase my mistakes. It fell out of my handbag the next day and freaked me out.

FilledSoda · 28/08/2019 19:50

Happygolucy123 those are hag stones

Happygolucy123 · 28/08/2019 20:32

@FilledSoda Just looked them up they're linked with fertility and we found more during my first pregnancy than the whole time we've been collecting them

vinergartom · 28/08/2019 20:41

@ComtesseDeSpair that’s not your photo

nononever · 28/08/2019 20:47

those are hag stones

I didn't know that, just googled them. I have one I found on a beach when on holiday a couple of years ago.
