Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

@BiggusBummus @littletinybubbles, I used to get this all the time as a child, good to know it is an actual thing and not me going bonkers

Oliversmumsarmy · 01/09/2019 10:47

Not necessarily a glitch in the Matrix but I do believe that houses and land hold a certain power.

It wouldn't matter how competitively priced a property is if it is next to a church or has been built at some point on what was Church land then I run in the opposite direction.

There was a big Victorian house in quite an affluent area and during the 60s the owners because they were short of money sold off part of the garden to a developer.

The owner of the Victorian house and the developer both went bankrupt.
The Victorian house was sold to another developer who also went bankrupt and then it was sold again to another developer who struggled to get finances to do anything and it lay empty for many years.

The land was then sold to a guy who had a very successful business. He built his dream house. But before he moved in he got a huge tax bill which virtually bankrupted him. It was when tax went up to 97.5% for top earners and there was the tax on savings etc.

He fled abroad never spending one night in the finished house.

My family bought the modern house and despite living with extended family who all worked and even with 6 wages coming in the house we struggled to make ends meet. We put the house up for sale for the same price as we paid which was a bargain in the first place and it took 4 years to sell.

We sold to a guy who had his mortgage through a bank that went bankrupt and the mortgage was recalled prompting him going bankrupt.

When we moved the change in our finances was incredible. In 2 years we more than quadrupled our net worth. Bills were not coming in at such a rate and our family business suddenly took off. It was like everything just went our way.

We did some research in the library about the area and the Victorian house was built on the site of an old church and the land the house was built on we think could have been the graveyard. I have lived in many old and creepy looking houses but nothing has ever crept me out more than that brand new modern house I was terrified of every room in that house.

I often think I have seen a person I know on foot or in a car then realise it isn’t them and then soon after I see that person. Usually people I haven’t seen in years or don’t often come across

A very strange coincidence once. I decide to phone an old friend I hadn't spoken to for at least 9 months - it was way past the time for a catch up. I picked up the phone (landline) and there was no dial tone, but just my friend on the other end saying 'hello?'
Despite living miles apart/not spoken for months, we had decided to call each other at the exact same moment. She had obviously just dialled and I picked up the phone before it could actually ring. I don't know if this counts as a blip in the matrix, but it was very odd.

When I was 18 weeks pregnant I started to bleed heavily. I was taken to hospital and scanned and told that I was losing the baby. Because the bleeding was so heavy I was kept overnight and prepared for what would happen. I was devastated and distraught.

I had a private room but couldn't sleep because of the cramps and the crying of newborn babies throughout the ward next door, it was incredibly difficult to listen to.
At some point I got up to use the toilet. I looked at the new mums on the ward with their babies. As I walked up the corridor to the toilet a woman was being wheeled in a chair holding her newborn, she had just given birth and the midwife took her to a private room. I was stunned, in the dim light the woman appeared to look just like me, it was like seeing myself, same hair, build, facial features, it was strange and I felt like I was seeing myself! The midwife with her noticed me and checked I was ok, she said I seemed dazed and put her arm around me. I went toilet and back to my room. I would estimate I was out of the room ten minutes, fifteen at most.
Seeing the woman and her baby made me feel a sense of strength, I suddenly flipped and decided that I would be strong and return and have my baby, I felt amazingly positive.

When I got back to my room a different midwife was waiting to do my observations and asked where I had been. She said she had been looking for me for the last three quarters of an hour and was worried I had collapsed somewhere. There was no way I had been gone that long... I asked the time and she said it was around 2am. I told her I felt strong and positive and she was kind but seemed bemused.

Over the next few hours the bleeding ceased, they never found the cause and the pregnancy continued with intermittent bleeding.

Eventually I was induced early because of the complications. I was back on the same ward and went down to the labour room and gave birth to a healthy baby. After a midwife came to take me up to the ward, not only was it the same midwife I had seen wheeling the woman up months before, but she had moved me to a private room, the same room the woman I had seen taken to. As we went up I checked the time, 2am!

Could be lots of coincidences but I felt like I saw myself in the future that night and something was trying to tell me it would be ok. Either way, it gave me strength and I am grateful for it and my baby.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread to comment but this is the first thing that I thought of. I’m gonna sound mad.

My Nan died and 4 years later I was asleep but not a deep sleep, the part just before you wake up. I hadn’t been dreaming either. I heard my Nan call my Mum’s name out three times and the tone sounded like she was really concerned about my Mum, as if she was trying to get through. I woke up and tried to shake it off that I must of had a dream and not known. My Mum hadn’t been feeling well for a few months and shortly after I heard my Nan, my Mum was diagnosed with cancer.

SeaSandandSun · 01/09/2019 14:02

I’ve told this one before but quite a while ago.

DD starts school at 7.30 and the gates open at 7.15. It gets super busy outside school by 7.15 so I always aimed to be there for 7.10 and waited until 7.15 to walk her to the gates. We used to practice spellings, reading etc in the time we waited.

This particular day we parked up as normal and I looked at the digital clock on my dash. It said 7.06 which seemed a little early. I said to DD, “how strange it’s only 6 minutes past!” We both we’re looking at the clock and it changed to 7.07 then immediately to 7.08 with DD commenting “it’s now 7.07, now it’s 7.08...” it carried on changing up every few seconds and stopped at 7.12. Whilst this was happening I grabbed my phone to check the real time and the time on that was changing with the car clock and stopped at 7.12. Both then kept time perfectly. It was really really odd. The car clock and my phone can be in no way connected. We were marvelling at it still when we got out at 7.15 which was most definitely 7.15 as the gates were being opened Confused

duffyluth · 01/09/2019 14:11

@SeaSandandSun

I don't get it? You got there a bit earlier and counted down the time?

Wauden · 01/09/2019 14:33

I once had a strong feeling that the father of a friend of a friend had passed away suddenly. I didn't know the father at all and had only met the woman twice, briefly.
Shortly after, I was out walking with my friend and we bumped into the woman.
She told that her father had died suddenly despite being well.
I had to stop myself from saying "I know already".
It was a bit spooky!

SeaSandandSun · 01/09/2019 15:17

@duffyluth the minutes were going up every 2 seconds or so not in minutes like it should.
Had it just been the car clock I would think it was just a glitch with the car clock. It was both my phone and the car clock.
Either 6 minutes passed by in under 30 seconds or something weird happened with both clocks.

duffyluth · 01/09/2019 15:19

Ah sorry, I didn't pick that up properly at all Blush

I saw the preview for the film Ladybird. I recognised the film and just knew I'd already seen it. I told my sister and she told me I was being ridiculous and that I couldn't possibly have seen it as it wasn't even released yet. When it was actually released I watched it (again) and had indeed "seen" the film before.

graziemille567 · 01/09/2019 17:04

I used to have strange dreams as a teenager- once I dreamt that a little orange car was in a crash, the next day my neighbours who had an orange Daewoo type car crashed on the way to work.

Earlier this year I felt incredibly anxious about a flight we were due to take in a couple of weeks. I was almost hysterical about it, couldn't sleep and kept imagining plunging out of the sky - I was on the verge of a panic attack. The next day the Ethiopian Boeing Max plane crashed. I am a nervous flyer but I've never had that kind of reaction in the build Up to going on a plane before. But then the amount of people that have a fear of flying means statistically it's very likely someone will have a moment like mine above that coincidentally happens before a newsworthy plane crash.

Orangepearl · 01/09/2019 18:17

This is one of mine ( true not taken from any inter web thing!)

While I was pregnant with my 1st child I had a dream that really disturbed me. I was in a city I felt was my home area (In the dream not my actual city) but there was nothing there except broken rubble, broken pipes sticking out and more rubble.

Everything in the dream had this thick layer of what looked like chalk dust. I woke up not understanding the dream and found the feeling in the dream very disturbing.

The next day I was due my 1st scan no one in the family were interested as the whole world was talking about 9 11 that had just happened late that morning.

Mamapuddlefluff · 01/09/2019 21:21

As a child we grew up in a pretty quiet suburb, nothing exciting and little to no crime. I had a recurring dream that as an adult someone called Mo was killed in a horrible way outside the shop. The dream bothered me so much that I refused to walk past that shop for years.
Last year, a young lad named Mo
was murdered by some lads in the exact spot from my dream.

When I was 15 my aunt was in a hospice with terminal cancer. My mum had gone to visit her and rang me at lunchtime to say she was in good spirits and doing okay. At about 3.25 I got this god awful shivery feeling and felt the worst sense of doom come over me. My mum rang about 4pm saying my aunt had passed at 3.25.

When I was 17 I was out for dinner with my boyfriend and his family. My Dad rang me but my boyfriend told me his parents didn't approve of answering phones during a meal and thought it rude. I let it ring out but was annoyed and said flippantly to my boyfriend but what if he never rings me again? I woke up at 4am that night feeling really sick and shivery but put it down to drinking. My mum woke me in the morning to tell me my grandma was on her way. My dad had been found dead that morning and they think he died between 3 and 5am. He was 42, healthy and he choked to death so there was absolutely no way I could have predicted or expected it.

StillMedusa · 01/09/2019 21:37

Slightly different..but odd..
My Dad died very unexpectedly of heart failure.
About a month later my brother..a 32 yr old London banker not given to flights of fancy, woke up in a terrible state, because he had had the most vivid dream.. he'd been in their old local, and Dad appeared pint in hand. Brother asked him how he could be there as he was dead, and Dad was really surprised.. didn't realise he was dead but did think everything looked a bit odd.
Fast forward 8 months and suddenly I was having the most vivid dream... I was suddenly at the same pub and Dad appeared by my side (I don't go to pubs) Dad smiled at me and suggested we went outside. Everything was in technicolour..such blue sky and such green grass. We sat on the grass, and suddenly I noticed how well he looked... not arthritic and unable to walk easily..but much much younger..maybe 40 ((I was 47)
I asked if I could take a photo to prove I'd seen him and he replied he didn't think that would work what with him being dead and all, but I could try!

When I woke I rang my brother and said I felt like he was showing us he was ok now, well and was moving on.

I have NO woo tendencies but felt very much at peace after that :)

Stillmedusa and Boobindoop, I have had a similar dream where I met up with my Grandma in her front parlour and chatted with her, knowing that she was dead, but enjoying the visit.

Caramagoo · 01/09/2019 22:37

About 14 years ago, I was just dishing out dinner and singing Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. As I sat down at the table with my DH and DD I leaned over to switch the radio on. Not only was Don't Stop Me Now playing, but it was EXACTLY the bit I was singing, I mean completely in sync. My DH nearly spat out his water.

tinkering · 01/09/2019 23:31

Not glitchy, maybe not even woo, but as a child I was sure I could see spirits and spirit life. I don’t necessarily believe in that sort of thing as an adult but I definitely believe that children and animals are able to see spirits based on what I saw as a little girl - orbs, auras, spirits, faces - the lot.

Anyway. When I was about seven we moved house. The new house was adapted because the previous owner was an old disabled woman (and I am also disabled). One of the rooms downstairs was converted into a bedroom and an extension was built so she had a wet room inside this downstairs bedroom. Think like a hospital style bathroom. She had a shower but there was a seat attached and handles. I can vividly remember sitting in the shower one day. The shower was on and with the door shut and the shower running it was impossible to hear anyone else speaking e.g. in the kitchen or anything like that. But I can vividly recall a voice, loud and clear, telling me the story of how this old woman died because she was in the shower, the seat gave way beneath her and she fell and was left there, she had also hit her head on the handles. I always had the sensation that it was the old woman warning me. It was so vivid I refused to use the shower seat and even now years later if I’m in the shower I always remember the story and feel so uneasy showering if there’s nobody in the house. I’ve talked to my parents about it but aside from knowing that the woman did die in the house (in the bedroom area so close to the bathroom) we don’t actually know if there’s any merit to the story!

I do have doubts now, I sort of think I was feeling anxious about the seat (it was very obviously old and wobbled when I sat on it - the one we have now is new and modern!) so maybe to an anxious seven year old, it manifested in a story like that...

Dowser · 01/09/2019 23:33

Wow...nothing spooky at all but mum bought a very specific suit from Evans for my daughters wedding in Florida
Just a top and skirt with huge pink peopnies
Very pretty
She gave it a trial run at Ascot...There were no fewer than a dozen women all sporting the same outfit
It was distinctive you couldn’t miss it
She had her photo taken with about 5 of them

MadameOvary · 01/09/2019 23:33

I have one.
One is that I was at work and had a sudden strong urge to go see a friend of mine that I'd been trying to get in touch with. I asked if I could have an early lunch and went straight there. Friend was there with a mutual friend but was only there that day and had just arrived - she'd fled to another city as she was having a bad time and was just there to grab some things and go.

Al2O3 · 02/09/2019 02:22

@SeaSandandSun

Did you drive through an area where an undercover police/army presence could have been taking place, eg central London or other city? Some equipment can block ‘clocks’ which later reset. Not sure whether they can override smart phones though!

angell84 · 02/09/2019 02:41

The weirdest thing that happened to me was when I was in Spain and I had just gotten off a train. After you get off the train, You have to press your ticket to be scanned at a turnstile to be able to move through. I pressed my ticket and it wouldn't work. Next thing , a woman in front of me said "oh don't worry , I will go through and you just walk quickly behind me. I did, said thanks and walked off. She wouldn't let me go, she followed and insisted walking beside me to where I got a new ticket. And then she still wouldn't leave me alone. I would describe her as a woman who looked a bit like a man, and maybe South American. I walked off to get my next train and she walked with me right to the platform of the next train and stood beside me. She said " where are you from", I said " England", and she said - and I will never forget it , " Oh yes I heaed that you were from England". I looked at her
It was such a strange thing to say and as I looked at her I felt such a strong desire to get away so I walked to the other end of the platform and wedged in with people there and finally she left me alone.

Who was she? How did she "hear that I was from England"

It gave me the creeps.
