Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

I have really enjoyed this thread!

OrangeSunsets · 30/08/2019 15:45

@MB34 now that is freaky! I was north of Doncaster heading towards Sheffield when it happened too!!!

MummyofTw0 · 30/08/2019 15:57

This has been so interesting

@EcocabbyRickShaw it was 15.51 when I read your message! Weird!

EcocabbyRickShaw · 30/08/2019 16:02

Bloody hell Grin

Morgan12 · 30/08/2019 16:07

The ones about losing time are mental!

Is there a link for the digital spy forum stories?

OrangeSunsets · 30/08/2019 16:14

@Morgan12 the people or the stories are mental? Grin

MB34 · 30/08/2019 16:16

@OrangeSunsets oh my gosh! Maybe it's something about that area, like the Bermuda Triangle of North England.

Fairyhill · 30/08/2019 16:44

We were only talking about this three days ago.
For the reason - boring but freaky too me.
I said the lock on the down stairs loo never worked in the 4 years we ve lived here as it’s been painting over by previous people,
My husband said - yes I but the lock above works ?*
I said what lock ? - ( no lock there I swear )
He said - the lock I put on 3 years ago?.. .
I went straight to the toilet and there’s a bloody lock on the door! I swear it was not there earlier and he’s tell me honestly that he did it three years ago.

Freaky part of it is it’s definitely not been there because others have commented they have to sing when they use the down stairs loo??

Husband says 100% he put it on there 3 years ago for a party and I even remember him buying it and getting the tools out to fit it!!

Creeped us both out!

That’s my glitch!! Toilet lock!! 🤣

QuestionableMouse · 30/08/2019 16:46

Doncaster isn't the north of England 😂

My lost time happened near Sunderland though.

SymphonyofShadows · 30/08/2019 17:09

I’m on my phone and I don’t know how to link from Digital Spy but it’s called ‘what’s the creepiest thing that ever happened to you?’ It’s a massive thread that took me weeks to read, but there are some chilling things on it. Look for the posts by someone called Doll Legs or Doll Feet.

I found the thread via a thread about urban myths on here. That was also good but I can’t find it.

Would be grateful if anyone could find the urban myths one though! I love things like that

I've remembered another. I was out at an event in London with a friend who was over from the US and I had my new camera with me - this was about 1997 or 98 so it was just a film camera. I took several photos over the course of the morning, put my camera away and later discovered that I'd lost it. I retraced my steps, asked stallholders, checked that it hadn't been handed in - nobody had seen it and I was gutted. Thought it was gone for ever. Went back to my hotel room that evening and there was my camera sitting on my bed. I genuinely thought I had somehow fabricated the memory of using it that morning, until I had the film developed and the morning photos I'd taken were all there. The hotel room was a good 15 minutes' walk from the event, my friend had been with me all day and there was nobody else with us who could have known where we were staying or got into our room, as I had the key.

TartanTexan · 30/08/2019 17:31

@Spiderlight - I had exactly the same thing with a distinctive bracelet I lost in 2008 in the UK. 2015, living in a different country, I find it on the middle of my duvet, sparking...

MedalMedalMedal · 30/08/2019 17:44

Cheeseoncrumpets - Does anyone else have days that seem to really drag for no reason? Like everything seems to be going slower? I've always thought that was part of the same phenomena

Yes I think I know what you mean. Ive thought this often before. For no discernible reason some days just feel more difficult, heavy and clogged. They’re more effort. Other days zip along free and clear. It’s not an emotional thing or depression..something else not of my making or from me, like walking against a virtual gale.

I sound barmy now 🤣

MedalMedalMedal · 30/08/2019 17:52

Spider and TartanTexan 😳😳 There is no explanation for either story. How fascinating and creepy.

Mmmmdanone · 30/08/2019 18:06

I live in a large city. I used to live in the west side of it. A man walked past my house quite often. Obviously lived on the area. A few years later I move to the south of the city, quite a distance. One day I saw the same man walking past my house. I'm 100% sure he's not stalking me as never seen him again but it was weird!

desperatehousewife21 · 30/08/2019 18:25

This thread is fab I love it! Find these sorts of stories more interesting than the ‘woo/ creepy’ ones as they freak me out loads but these are just fascinating!

I’m now going to spend days reading the digital spy thread but will keep coming back here to read more!

Badbilly · 30/08/2019 18:47

This happened when I was a teenager, probably late 80's. I was watching tv, I was the only one in the room at the time. A news report came on and it interrupted whatever was on. It said it was from the future. I thought it was odd but interesting. I wasn't scared. As it was so long ago I can't remember what was said unfortunately. I mentioned it to others the next day and since and no one else saw it or remembers it. Really weird.
I’ve quoted your whole post because EXACTLY the same thing happened to me.

I can’t remember the exact year, but by working out where I was living, and who with, I would say about 1989. The programme was The South Bank show, with Melvin Blagg (spelling?) and it was a programme about Jimi Hendrix. It happened right at the beginning of the programme and said something like “This is a message from the future” and basically said everything will be ok.

FenellaVelour · 30/08/2019 18:50

Not a blip in the matrix, but my parents allowed me to watch Nightmare on Elm Street when I was quite young and it freaked me out.
When I was about 11, I was lying awake in bed looking at my bedroom window, which was cracked open as it was a hot night.
I thought to myself “Any minute now, all the lights will go out and Freddy Krueger will come in through the window and get me.”
Not 30 seconds later, power cut.
I screamed until I felt sick, and my mum was totally confused about why I was making such a fuss.

FenellaVelour · 30/08/2019 19:01

Something that does fascinate me: on a previous Mumsnet thread, someone wrote that their father had seen a newsflash on TV about the Flixborough disaster before it had happened. Someone else posted that a celebrity (I can’t recall who) had told the same story.
On googling, it appears that at least two other people report the same thing happening.
Very odd.

HarrySnotter · 30/08/2019 19:47

We moved house when I was 9, and I subsequently moved all over the place as an adult. I ended up working for a time around the area I was originally brought in and my sister, coincidentally, was working in the same area for a week so we met for lunch. We were reminiscing about the town and how it had changed from how we remembered it (we were both in our 40s by that time). My sister mentioned the woman who lived next door to my nan who used to babysit for us sometimes. As we were getting ready to pay our bill, she walked into the tea room we were in. She must have been very elderly by this point but hardly looked any different. More bizzarely, she recognised both of us. Freaked us both out for weeks!

Whatsyournameagain · 30/08/2019 20:12

Just yesterday I fell down a bit of an internet wormhole regarding the Mandela effect, I think because of reading this thread. One of the stories I remembered reading a couple of years ago was about people seeing a report/newsflash about a disaster, before it actually happened, but yesterday when I was googling I could not find anything about this disaster anywhere, I googled all sorts trying to find it but decided I must have imagined it. Now thanks to @FenellaVelour’s comment I have it, thanks!
