Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

On a night out once, I bought a homeless woman a kebab and we got chatting about her life story.

She had the same name as me, she grew in the same area as me, she went to the same university as me and studied the same course. She told me that in her second year at university she got in with a rough crowd on local men who got her hooked on drugs, he started trafficking for them, she got into prostitution, she was in and out of prison and now on the streets.

The mirrors between our early lives were freaky. I felt as though she was a future version of me warning me against what might happen at university.

What made it more weird was that I worked just around the corner from where I met her. I'd never seen her before and I never saw her since.

No, I haven’t, but I love these stories so blatantly coming to placemark!

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 27/08/2019 12:04

I appear to be living in a country where an unelected Prime Minister is suggesting suspending our sovereign parliament in order to force through a suicidal policy to enable a far right takeover that the majority do not agree with, and there is a considerable amount of people who seem to consider this a good idea!

I think the whole matrix has glitched!

Driving along a motorway, I've been overtaken by the same car 3 times in the same journey in the space of 5 minutes. In between junctions ?

Shetlandponyranger · 27/08/2019 13:57

I used to have an uncommon car in a very usual colour. I as driving down a county road when the same car in the same colour was coming towards me, then from a side road, appeared a third car- same make, same colour!
Myself and the second car passed each other in front of the third car and in all honestly I thought for a moment I was dead or dreaming. No other cars on the road. Never saw that make of car in that colour ever again.

celebrating my birthday i went to several different locations in london all involving a long trek on the tube.I see the same person in the crowds at every location

Kalim8 · 27/08/2019 19:03

Years ago at uni, a friend dropped by and started telling me about an earlier conversation.
I interrupted (tut!) with "oh yeah and X said such and such a thing".
Friend asked how I knew.
I said I'd been there.
"no you weren't" he replied.

I had a feeling like in a dream when you can't recall how you got somewhere (& maybe someone else had already told me and I hadn't remembered).

MrsEricBana · 27/08/2019 19:09

Once when I was at uni I had a dream that the grill exploded. I told my flatmate about stupid dream. That evening when I was grilling something, flames shot horizontally across the kitchen and when we checked afterwards two of the elements of the grill had melted and fused together.

Atlasta · 27/08/2019 19:13

At work today I heard a conversation between 3 co-workers that I heard yesterday. I felt very strange. They were stood in exactly the same position and had on the same clothes. A client walked past at exactly the same point in this conversation and was greeted in the same manner.
I've felt unnerved all day and it feels unnerving finding this thread.

DarlingNikita · 27/08/2019 19:17

Yes, loads, but all small enough that I don't remember them to recount them (and they'd be boring Grin

But things like seeing the same cat twice as I walk down the road and stuff like that.

Cheeseoncrumpets · 27/08/2019 19:28

I had a similar experience to ResidentialBlackSeaBand, when driving along the North Wales expressway or A55 from Chester. The junction where I was supposed to leave was closed due to road works, it was late and dark and pretty quiet, and I over took the same car with an elderly couple in the front seats about three times.

I rememeber on the last occasion it registered with me that I'd already passed them several times and freaking out, it really scared me and I was already a bit unnerved due to having to take a different route home.

Does anyone else have days that seem to really drag for no reason? Like everything seems to be going slower? I've always thought that was part of the same phenomena.

QuestionableMouse · 27/08/2019 19:46

I've had the slow time thing. Coming back from Edinburgh a few months ago took almost 6 hours despite driving at a reasonable speed, quiet roads and no long stops. It took two and a bit going. Was so strange because it felt like we just weren't getting anywhere but there was no reason for it!

hardyloveit · 27/08/2019 20:30

Years ago my family were watching strictly and I said oh this is the one where the professional gets the yellow tassels tangled! This then happened about 4 minutes later and my family all looked at me as if I was mad! I didn't understand and was sure I'd seen it in the week at the rehearsals then my family told me it was live - it was a bit unnerving but I was convinced I'd seen the whole thing already!

BelulahBlanca · 27/08/2019 20:32

@Atlasta That’s creepy. Was the client due in both days?

TravellingSpoon · 27/08/2019 20:35

Not quite the same, but I 100% remember my friend telling me that a person we both know by sight only works at X.

Friend completely sure she never said it because it isn't information she knew.

About 2 years later I go to X, and there is acquaintance, she runs the place and is the only employee.

BethanyGilbert · 27/08/2019 20:35

I’ve read before about people losing hours of time walking relatively short and familiar distances. Very interesting.

I get deja vu frequently when I can predict what someone is about to say or what is going to happen

Wonderland18 · 27/08/2019 20:53

Fantastic thread, I had a dream last week about my LO learning to climb the couch and she did it on Friday first time.. dunno if that counts but I’d told my partner about the dream so was strange.

My mum once had a car double flash her on the backroads to Glasgow from Edinburgh, she thought they were trying to get her to pull over so she sped up, they kept following. It was a quiet country road and she was panicked, there were no other cars and looked back again and they had gone, no way they could have turned without her seeing. She came home so shaken

littletinybubbles · 27/08/2019 21:08

@Wonderland18 surely the car had just stopped

Most of these are pretty explainable

origamiunicorn · 27/08/2019 21:21

I do but feel silly writing it down, but what the hell, no one knows me on here.

Walking on my lunch hour through town, sunny day. A car passed me, a red 80s looking boxy sports car. Didn't clock the make or model. It was blaring Duran Duran's Reflex and honestly, when it went past me all I remember thinking was how bright and colourful everything seemed for a few seconds. It seemed like time stopped as well and that I was the only person on the street, I can't describe it, it sounds so stupid. As soon as the car disappeared everything dulled again and it felt like the people and sound came back.

It sounds like I'm making it up but honestly, has anyone else had something like this?

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 27/08/2019 21:27

Such an interesting thread! Nothing major to add aside from the usual deja vu.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 27/08/2019 21:28

There was a journey I'd walk regularly when at university. If I left twenty minutes for it I'd do it in under ten. If I left 15 it took me more than 20. That was without deliberately altering my pace. I used to find that strange.

Schwibble · 27/08/2019 21:33

Apparently there are now 20 minutes less an hour than there were 30 years ago. I can believe it.
