Do you think duke of Cambridge's flybe flight was already booked?

Or only booked after prince Harry's controversial Private jet trip?

I reckon when Harry said "we will have no more than two kids for the environment" he was making a virtue out of a possible necessity.

Meghan is in her late 30s and has only relatively recently produced a child. Two children for the Sussexes may be a realistic rather than an environmental choice.

Freddiefox · 22/08/2019 23:09

I think they try to live as normally as they can most of the time. Kate is seen in Kensington Park with the kids. Not trying to keep the proles at arms length..

It interesting take on the same event as in the other thread there was a comment on how the playground is closed for Kate and George’s sole use and they are surrounded by security who stop you taking photos. But yet that’s not commented on in the press. Can you imagine the reports if it was MM and Archie stopping the locals using the park.

Wills also made a rather ill timed speech about population control, a tad hypocrital I think but seems to have got away with it relatively unharmed.

PeculiarBerries · 22/08/2019 23:13

It did make me chuckle and part of me for second wondered if when the pics broke of M&H, Wills shouting to Kate from the study "fancy a quick trip to see Granny in Balmoral?? 73 quid with Flybe!"

You can just picture Harry's face when the pics were released. I suspect FFS was uttered

Impeccable timing

Although Kate and Wills also fly private, as well as scheduled. How did they get to Mustique?

Meghan and Harry just need to keep their mouths shut in the interests of self-preservation and that of the RF's.

I don't think William is nasty at all. I think he is probably in despair about the way his brother and Meghan are being portrayed in the press and trying to mitigate the negativity by toeing the line himself. I think he really loves his brother and feels burdened by responsibility to keep the ship on an even keel.

This! Harry and Meghan really need to reign it in. They're not celebs, they're royalty. You're embarrassing yourselves and the RF.

PeculiarBerries · 22/08/2019 23:17

They're, not you're

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2019 23:21

I’n assuming this is how they usually travel from Anmer to Balmoral- and the Press is doing it’s usual thing?

Katzia · 22/08/2019 23:29

I do think Wills and Kate have played a blinder! They have now made it impossible for Harry & Meghan to travel to Balmoral any other way than by a similar low key flight with no fuss, sitting with ordinary people or else by train in an equally fuss free way. If they do go by private jet with all that cloak and dagger hide the baby, get in blacked out cars stuff, they'll be crucified in the press.

lavenderandthyme · 22/08/2019 23:40

Yes but I doubt they were trying to make things more difficult for W and K . Just trying to dial down the negative press that H and M have created.

lavenderandthyme · 22/08/2019 23:40

Sorry I meant more difficult for H and M

PeculiarBerries · 22/08/2019 23:54

Unless there's a valid reason why H & M are avoiding commercial flights?

jollybird · 23/08/2019 04:25

If Prince William has made comments and voiced concerns publicly about the environment then a lot of people as well as the media need to call him out on this, not just Harry and Meghan.
There is a glaring double standard here even though many will swear blind that there isn't.
Most of the Royal Family have used private jets including William and his Family.

nononever · 23/08/2019 06:34

I’n assuming this is how they usually travel from Anmer to Balmoral- and the Press is doing it’s usual thing?

Probably, just to fuel the rumours of friction between the couples.

jlgsy94 · 23/08/2019 06:42

What good has their low cost flight actually done in the grand scheme of things, from a cost perspective at least? An insane amount is spent on security, private school tuition, trips abroad and domestic, fancy designer clothes, staff, other lavish things etc etc.

Some, or maybe most people, might say they do a lot of good for the country, but in my opinion to which I am fully entitled to, so shoot me down!, is that unless all those expenses are covered by their OWN business avenues and not the public purse, then they are by far the biggest scroungers, it's ridiculous.

LifeOfBox · 23/08/2019 06:43

It’s the easiest and quickest way to get to Scotland though. I used to live a few miles from sandringhan. Norwich airport is really convenient and easy to travel from from there. Of course I don’t have the private jet option.

What do I know but Kate seems very grounded. I wouldn’t wish their kids lives on anyone but if anyone can do fairly normal given their circumstances I reckon Kate and her family will manage that.

MangoFeverDream · 23/08/2019 06:50

If Prince William has made comments and voiced concerns publicly about the environment then a lot of people as well as the media need to call him out on this, not just Harry and Meghan

I saw critical headlines in the DM about William flying private to a conference (Davos iirc) to participate in a panel talk about climate change, so he definitely has been called out for it.

Lucky for him, no airheaded celeb tried to defend his actions.

Of course K&M @ fly private, they are just sneakier about it, and I fully expect that they did the pap stroll to dig the boot in.

Wills would never actively try to damage Harry’s reputation. My guess is also RF damage limitation or just chance if he often takes commercial flights

Who knows? But we do know that Charles and Diana played out their dysfunction in the media, it might have set a bad example for their sons.

bevelino · 23/08/2019 07:13

It seems obvious that it was a last minute decision as Kate and Wills use private planes all the time. They don’t get criticised for anything they do and DM love them. On the other hand DM hate Meghan and have made it their business to generate as much hate against her as they can.

Somersetlady · 23/08/2019 07:16

Megan and Harry could easily get a helicopter from the grounds of Frogmore to Balmoral.

No one would ever know.

@BertrandRussell start with harrys vogue interview for the preaching.

lavenderandthyme · 23/08/2019 08:09

The issue is that Harry and Meghan are making a point of speaking up about climate change in a very obvious way. They are admonishing the public to be more thoughtful/aware. If they themselves don’t change their own contribution to global warming, it’s all just empty talk.
William and Kate are not seen to be taking to social media to tell people who have never flown in a private jet on their lives how to love.

LifeOfBox · 23/08/2019 08:30

Quite right, it’s the regular preaching that makes the difference. They aren’t doing anything Princess Margaret didn’t do but she wasn’t preaching about it.

I do think the Cambridge’s try to live a relatively normal family life. “Normal” for a wealthy family of their sort. No one bats an eyelid at them locally in Norfolk.

Of course their normal isn’t most people’s normal because PW is heir to the throne (should there still be a monarchy by then).

Perhaps they were due to fly by helicopter which was grounded by low cloud and the Norwich flight was easy - who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️.

BertrandRussell · 23/08/2019 08:34

“BertrandRussell start with harrys vogue interview for the preaching.”

What- the interview with the well known environmentalist Jane Goodall? What we’re they supposed to talk about- wine tasting?

FenellaMaxwell · 23/08/2019 08:42

@joyfullittlehippo can you provide any evidence for any of that...? A quick google, for example, shows that in the past 9 years she’s missed the Irish Guards a grand total of once.

Freddiefox · 23/08/2019 08:44

At least with H and M they have a few interest and passion about them, a bit of personality.
W and K doesn’t seem to have any true passion of interest. They dabbled with mental health for a bit and that went dry very quickly.
They both seem a little void
