What clothes would put you off a potential partner?

Inspired by the ‘What three items would you never wear?’ thread in AIBU - is there an item or style of clothing that would put you off if you were looking at someone as a potential partner?

I've just walked past a man who was wearing a ‘If found, please return to the pub’ T-shirt. This and all similar variants (‘In case of emergency please insert beer’ with an arrow pointing upwards etc.) would kill any lust for me. I’m sure there would be people who think it horribly judgemental, but I just know this would be the type of man who’d enjoy prank shows, Unilad and ‘epic bantz’.

Anyone else?

3/4 length trousers. Velcro trainers. Vests. Topless. Football shirts. ‘Funny’ ties or socks. Short sleeved shirts with a tie. Proper pyjamas. Baseball caps especially, but not limited to, backwards. Long ties.
Didn’t realise I had so many.

Jewellery except for a watch and wedding ring.

snowgirl1 · 05/08/2019 18:29

Smart suit jackets with jeans - no it doesn't look 'smart casual' it just looks like two different people, who didn't consult each other, dressed you.

Ditto smart work shoes with jeans.

Plus load of other things already mentioned on this thread.

Jewellery beyond wedding ring and watch
Camping trousers when not camping
Double denim
Tracksuits

Anything else I can cope with... I think...

Purpletigers · 05/08/2019 18:40

Baseball caps, unless playing baseball. I also distinguish between awful baseball caps with a vertical front and soft peaked caps which i like.

Earlobe spreaders. Thank goodness they appear to be dying out.

The same red trousers Mummy bought you on leaving School, which you think you still fit into, with a vast shirt spread over the belly above and strainingly tucked in.

Rugby shirts. I have never seen anyone look good in them and that includes 1970s pocket hottie Gareth Edwards. You ain't no classic Welsh player, bruv.

Hillaria · 05/08/2019 19:31

chipsandgin, no that is certainly not me, thank you very much. I am blonde.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/08/2019 19:44

Crocs
Short sleeved shirts

So I thought but once in lust I am quite forgiving (in regards to short sleeve shirts)

amusedbush · 06/08/2019 13:04

Anything bought just for the name, like Superdry.

The male Geography teacher look!

Damntheman · 06/08/2019 14:02

I quite like humerous tees :D

Put offs would be joggers, skinny skinny jeans, trousers that hang half way down the arse to expose underwear, football shirts, overly baggy clothing.

PandaToTheMasses · 06/08/2019 14:48

Yes deck shoes are a dealbreaker.
Socks with holes in the toe. Clip your toenails ffs.
Bright trainers.
Super skinny jeans.
Anything that doesn't fit or is not tailored properly. Especially business suits.

AuntieMarys · 06/08/2019 14:51

Shapeless trousers
Sportswear worn by unsporty people
BASEBALL CAPS
Jewellery
Cargo pants

escapade1234 · 06/08/2019 14:53

Why don’t people like deck shoes?

PandaToTheMasses · 06/08/2019 15:33

Why don’t people like deck shoes?

Because my ex wears them, therefore I don't like any men who wear them of course. They remind me of a middle aged guy who wears a suit all week then for their weekend wear reverts back to the same clothes they wore in the 90s. Yes I am projecting.

thisnamechanger · 06/08/2019 15:35

Skinny jeans
Band t shirt

Haha this is my 50 y.o DP every day. He's hot Grin

Smart shoes with no socks...can't help but imagine how sweaty their feet are!

ballsdeep · 06/08/2019 15:42

A t shirt saying
The party starts here

And an arrow pointing downwards 🙄 that and crocs

Iamthewombat · 06/08/2019 16:15

Those long cargo shorts shout, “I am quite a big unit” even when the wearer is thin. Why have none of them realised this??

Also, why choose such hideous colours? Rust or pale brown, why, why??

evilharpy · 06/08/2019 16:20

I once dumped a guy for wearing a leather waistcoat. Was a long time ago but I stand by that decision.

LellyM · 06/08/2019 16:27

When I met DH he had a "favourite" ratty zip up cardi with the pocket half off. If this didn't put me off then nothing would! (Needless to say, it took 3 months before that little gem was in the floor rag pile).

For me it is quite the opposite. I couldn't contemplate any man who spent longer infront of a mirror than I do or who spent hours getting ready. I am a definite low maintenance woman!
