What clothes would put you off a potential partner?

Inspired by the ‘What three items would you never wear?’ thread in AIBU - is there an item or style of clothing that would put you off if you were looking at someone as a potential partner?

I've just walked past a man who was wearing a ‘If found, please return to the pub’ T-shirt. This and all similar variants (‘In case of emergency please insert beer’ with an arrow pointing upwards etc.) would kill any lust for me. I’m sure there would be people who think it horribly judgemental, but I just know this would be the type of man who’d enjoy prank shows, Unilad and ‘epic bantz’.

Anyone else?

White socks
Bleurgh

Bravelurker · 05/08/2019 00:41

@Soola, you are funny Grin.
I will probably get thrown off the thread but I really hate seeing men in pink shirts /ties /hair gel, who tend work in recruitment /Estate agents. Before they get within 2 meters of me, I'm terrified their strong smelling cologne is going to make me sneeze like a Lush store Blush.

Trainers with trainer socks so it looks like they’re not wearing socks. They are but I still imagine the sweaty insoles.

Deck shoes or flip flops only with shorts.

Trainers are acceptable with shorts if they’re off to do sport. In which case wear sport socks!

Wow, I had no idea that there was an area in which I am so laid back. Very little in the way of clothing would put me off the right man.

Any jewellery other than watch or wedding ring

sprite25 · 05/08/2019 15:49

Jeans and smart shoes
Jeans that are too long and have worn out at the back/bottom where your heel is (me and DH call them sharkbaits as it looks like they've had a shark bite a chunk out of them)
Suits/shirts or tshirts that are too tight (usually worn by muscly men to show off how muscly and manly they are)
Crocs/sandals/sliders (especially with socks)
Same as many PP about wearing sports clothing as everyday clothes (you can always see their junk sticking out in joggers 🤢)

amusedbush · 05/08/2019 16:00

Ankle grazer trousers and shoes with no socks Envy

Sportswear as normal clothes

Deep v-neck tshirts - too Geordie Shore for my taste

Any jewellery. Can't stand chains and rings on men. Signet rings are just the worst!

Grown men in comic book/video game tshirts.

Those fleeces with pictures of wolves on them??

jackernanna · 05/08/2019 16:02

Trainers (unless participating in some sort of sporting activity).
Track suit trousers if you reall, really must wear them then please wear appropriate underwear so that I don't have to look at your genitals

OldAndWornOut · 05/08/2019 16:09

Leather trousers, cardigans, matching tracky tops and bottoms, skinny jeans with their bum on show.

SushiTime · 05/08/2019 16:13

Anything football related
Cargo pants
Baggy ill fitting jeans
Rock t shirts
Cartoon anything
Anything "funny"
Court suits for work
I could probably go on...

CottonSock · 05/08/2019 16:18

A lot of the above!
When I met dh his jeans were inches too short. Our relationship was touch and go on this basis. However, I told him and went shopping. Together 12 years now.

midsomermurderess · 05/08/2019 16:21

Baseball caps are unforgivable, and band/logo t shirts,

buttyblahblah · 05/08/2019 17:25

@FaFoutis that's mine too!

Anyone who wears their collar up always seems to be a complete dick.

bebeboeuf · 05/08/2019 17:28

@MayFayner I came
On to say the same Grin

bebeboeuf · 05/08/2019 17:28

Where can you even buy fleeces with wolves on?!?

EskewedBeef · 05/08/2019 17:34

Weird Fish and Old Guys Rule style t-shirts.
Work shirts with a coloured body and white collar and cuffs.
Jogging bottoms.
Cropped trousers.
Shark tooth necklaces.

leckford · 05/08/2019 17:37

Dirty clothes, tattoos. Long, scruffy hair, beards.

Brittanyspears · 05/08/2019 17:58

3/4 length utility/cargo/toggle shorts with a superdry / fat face etc t shirt to finish.
