Had to go wedding dress shopping alone- come and tell me what you think!

Went wedding dress shopping yesterday on a spur of the moment, it was getting to difficult to get my mum and close cousins to join as we all live in different parts of the country.

I ordered this dress from Phase eight which I think is the one, I just need a few more eyes to tell me if I'm missing anything glaringly obvious and some second opinions.

I will pay for it to be taken up when I am set on shoes. And apologies the only heels I have in the house at the moment are black boots as the rest are in storage for moving house!

I'm getting married in the scottish highlands with a party to follow in my home city. Will wear a tasteful tartan shawl outside for travelling to photos/inclement weather.

The material is gorgeous and I love the owl mascots Grin. I'm afraid I do agree with others though, that it's not totally flattering shape-wise. The way it is nipped in below the hips, a bit like a fishtail skirt, is a really tough shape to wear unless you have super model skinny hips. You will look great in it, but another shape might flatter you even more.

The important thing, though, is how you feel in it.

Yes. Serape is like a wrap but T Shaped. You wear it pinned up with a brooch pin.
I had a moonsoon dress with lots of sparkly beads and it looked fantastic. (I also had unicorn wellies and two MNetters I'd never met before as witnesses but that's another thread).

Beautiful dress, I think you look lovely. Congratulations!

Op it's a beautiful dress and I think the size you have it perfect for you especially if your planning on toning up etc.

goldpendant · 28/06/2019 09:32

Absolutely stunning but I'd be tempted to try a size up and then pay to have it nipped in if need be, I think it's meant to be on the looser side than tight fitting. But it's gorgeous and really suits your shape and skin tone! Congrats!

You look lovely. I think that is definitely the shape for you. I felt the same when choosing my wedding dress and ended up with something from the high street as well. I too got married in the Highlands but I live here so you’d expect that Grin nosily desperate to know where you’re getting married be lovely just your close family although I’m always hoping someone elopes to the highlands and puts out a shout for witnesses on here.

I think it's a little tight. The next size up will be perfect. I saw the owl too, straight away.

It looks beautiful, and you look beautiful in it. I'd maybe ask about having the shoulder straps taken up a little bit - this will lift the whole bodice so the waistline hits at a slightly higher level, making it (even) more flattering. Enjoy your gorgeous dress and have a wonderful day celebrating your marriage!
